  1. Probably flex a little more than wood. I didn't use the decking. Just got some 2 x 4's. Cuts, glues and staples just like wood. Just be sure to countersink your bolts because you can't pull them into the board like you can wood. I put carpet on it. Just Home Depot indoor / outdoor, but should have gotten a little better quality, as it is starting to wear through.
  2. I put synthetic wood on my bunks on my old Tracker about 8 years ago. It is heavier but will never rot or break. A little more expensive but I think it is well worth it.
  3. I saw these on another forum (I know) and had to get them. These pictures do not give them justice but they are bad arse! front deck front rod box and storage back storage Two blue strips on the front and the back deck. All storage, rod lockers and battery area are done in white. No problem finding my boat at an early launch or late load up.
  4. Just keep up on Tom Redington's reports. I've always found them to be spot on with very little 'guide talk'. I talked to him one morning while he was waiting for his clients and he was extreamly helpful with telling me where to fish and confirmed my pattern I was on.
  5. These counties are located in what state? Not to be a smart --- but if you put your location in your profile it will help more if you have some questions. There are a bunch of knowledgable people on this forum. Again
  6. Go to www.tackleunderground.com to learn everything there is to know about pouring and then some. I purchase most of my stuff from lurecraft, or Bears baits but there are plenty of other sources. Good luck!
  7. First of all, there are quite a few pesticides that are labeled (legal) for control of aquatic vegitation. (unless you are in kalifornia) Secondly, as a golf course superintendent and manager, I would check with the course superintendent about fishing. He is the first one at the facility every morning and would be the best person to see about fishing. He can let you know if and when you can fish. HINT: Have a garbage bag hanging out of your pocket when you ask and tell him you would pick up any beer cans, candy wrappers, etc. around the pond. Every golf course I have worked at has had great bass fishing.
  8. http://www.iowadnr.gov/fish/fishing/miss/pool19.html This isn't great, but it might help. Each section can be enlarged.
  9. I agree, but also I've observed that a bass will sometimes follow the original lure a while before he hits it. On a missed strike I'll throw a senko or other plastic right back where he hit it. If nothing, I'll work my way back to where I thought he came from. I've caught quit a few on the fourth or fifth cast with the soft plastic after the original miss.
  10. I drink way too much beer when I play golf or play pool. When I am fishing however, I never drink if I am on water where I can get it up on plane. I want my reaction time to be as good as possible for self defense against the ones that are drinking or not paying attention. If I am on small water I might throw two in the cooler along with a bunch of water.

  12. I'm at work, rarely get on at home. 8-)
  13. A week ago my wife and I were in the rockies around the beginning of the Rio Grande River. We had frost every morning except one. Just thought I'd share a few pics. A couple of cow moose some big horns our cabin a little snow drift at Engineer Pass
  14. Three boats. Three trolling motors. Five depth finders. Seven batteries. I do transfer the life jackets and some tackle.
  15. I have the I-finder H20 from Lowrance. I put the Map Creat chip in it for driving/hiking and the Navionics chip for lakes. I would spend the extra hundred for the color one. The only drawbacks are that the screen is small for old eyes and if you are hiking, the batteries only last about 4 hours.
  16. 2000 Triton, TR186, 150 Merc. XR6, cash. I put 200 to 400 dollars a month in a savings, then CD, then cash it out when I want a new(er) boat or vehicle. I guess I make payments, but they are pre payments to myself. 8-)
  17. Another one bites the dust.
  18. Most temp. is measured slightly below the surface with the depth finder puck. Others have probes to measure temps at different depths. I don't get too hung up on the exact temperature but look for a degree or two of change. In the spring, I'll look for anything that is slightly warmer than the rest of the lake. Right now, I'll look for something a little cooler.
  19. Lake Fork in east Texas. Everyone should fish it at least once. There are many 'professional' guides to choose from and many more weekenders. Go to www.lakeforkmarina.com to get a fairly complete list of guides. Do your research, make some phone calls and talk to some of them and let them know what you expect. Without trying to slight any of the pro guides, here are some of the best IMHO: Tom Redington, Lance Vick, Bryan Douplechain (sp.), John Tanner, Mark Mitchell, Johnny Glass. There are many other great guides and I know I missed some. But that will give you a start. Most of the really good ones will be booking up for spring in the next couple of months. Make google your friend and type in lake fork guides.

  21. If you're talking summertime, then I would look into Table Rock, LOZ, or any of the other Ozark lakes. If you are waiting till Oct. / Nov. then Fork.
  22. Yep, watch the licenseing. A friend of mine made me this for Christmas last year.
  23. Lee Travino once said, "The more I practice, the luckier I get." I think this applies to golf, bass fishing, pool, and about any other skilled activity. JMHO 8-)
  24. I make about 90% of the plastics I use but have very few homemade cranks.
