  1. Maybe try the flea market on this site. I'm sure some of the guys on here will give away or sell you some stuff really cheap.
  2. Tfo garys signature series 7' medium light is rated down to 1/8oz. I have this rod and I love it. They retail for $100 or you can get the tactical series for $150
  3. Go on ebay and get a lews lfs speed spool for $80. Great reel for a beginner. Go on ebay and get a lews lfs speed spool for $80. Great reel for a beginner.
  4. It depends on the rods action. I use medium power moderate action rods for cranks. I use medium power fast action rods for Texas rigs and jigs. I also use medium power extra fast action rods for topwaters/jerkbaits/drop shot. That combo sounds like an all around setup with the exception of cranks.
  5. I prefer baitcasting gear just because of the way they fit my hands. Personally spinning gear is uncomfortable and I'm not very accurate with spinning gear.
  6. I know the feeling. I fish in lakes and rivers full of snags. Some days I might lose one jig, others days I can't make a cast before getting snagged. Thank goodness I found a few boxes full of jigs at a garage sale, 3 plano's slammed full of nice jigs for $20
  7. In this situation I go straight braid even if the water is clear.
  8. Spinning reels: Pflueger and lew's Casting reels: Lew's, abu garcia, shimano, daiwa Rods: lews, abu garcia, Fenwick, BPS, field and stream tec spec black,
  9. I use ambassadors for trolling for stripers. I would recommend the 4600 size for most bass fishing. They are good reels but depending on what you want to use it for I would look into the shakespeare skp round reels. I usually use them for catfish but I use one for heavy carolina rigs and swimbaits, the reel cast amazing.
  10. I would save the money amd get a pflueger supreme so that way you can afford a nicer rod to pair with it.
  11. P line fluoroclear is the only one I have used but I want to try McCoy X-tra clear/mean green.
  12. I have not found a swimbait hook that will fit the 3 incher. I like them on a scrounger head
  13. I just leave on what I already had on it. But I do cut off treble hook lures and when I'm about to leave I put rod and reel covers on. Sometimes I will cut leaders off if I need to.
  14. I have three favorite finesse rigs. 1. 3 or 4 inch keitech easy shiner on a split shot rig. 2. Charlie brewer slider head with a Charlie brewer 3in bass grub 3. Wacky rigged senko on a mojo rig. All these are fished on 10lb braid with fluorocarbon leader on medium light spinning gear. I also fish finesse jigs a lot but that is a step out of finesse fishing for me.
  15. Glad to hear it worked out for you. I wish every company had customer service like shimano and lew's. Hard to find that nowadays
  16. How much smaller is the tatula ct compared to the regular tatula?
  17. I use a bass pro shops crankin stick 7' medium heavy for crankbaits along with chatterbaits and spinnerbaits. Works great with 10-12lb sufix siege
  18. I also don't think that this braid exists. A lot of braids have those attributes but no braid fits all of those categories
  19. The daiwa tatula has a large following on here and the reviews are over all very good. The citica and curado also have a huge following on this site and you will probably hear from many people saying why their favorite brand's reel is better than the other reel. I have only fished the curado and I can say that it is a very nice reel for just about anything you would need it for.
  20. That reel looks amazing!!
  21. This^^. They flat out catch fish whether it be largemouth, smallmouth, stripers, hybrid stripers, perch, crappie and sunfish of all shapes and sizes
  22. I love the shell cracker for skipping docks on a rage rig. It is very easy to skip on a spinning rod and one of the few baits i can actually skip on a baitcaster. The bait swings back and forth on the drop and the fish can't stand watching it slowly descend until it is right in front of their faces. For hooks i use a eagle claw weighted swimbait hook with a spring lock on it. I like to use a 1/16oz to make the bait fall faster than it would weightless but not too fast so the fish can get a good look at it while it is falling. They are also a good bait to put on a punch rig because of the shape of the bait.
  23. I love the bill lewis 1/8oz rat-l-trap for multispecies action in both ponds and lakes. I also like the smallest red eye shad and the silent red eye shad for ripping through the weeds. The red eye shad double tap is a much more subtle bait than all the others and it has a thumping action that the fish can hear from a long distance and the smallmouth in my river can't stand the tungsten 2 tap in the natural shad pattern.
  24. When flipping and punching for bass you want a reel with a good strong drag and you have to lock the drag down. It may seem extreme but when flipping in the thick stuff you need that stopping power to stop and control the fish.
