  1. I have some luck with the deep diving X rap at Egypt bend in about 13 feet of water. Here there is a lot of timber under the water and I like to jerk the bait into the wood so that it bounces off of it. But when doing this I don't use a typical jerk bait rod, I use a medium heavy rod so I can get that fish away from the timber. I learned the hard way by losing a few jerkbaits to bass running down into the timber and breaking off PS, There is nothing like a smallie destroying a jerkbait right after it deflects of the timber
  2. Keitechs are good baits as are the lake fort tackle magic shad
  3. I use a bunch of lines,but usually either 10lb braid or 4-8lb fluorocarbon
  4. I would recommend stepping down to a 30 or 35 size supreme. I have a 30 and I love it
  5. I have heard nothing but good reviews about the dobyns champion glass crank bait rods.
  6. For cranking I would get a david fritts perfect crank speed stick and a lfs speed spool in the low gear ratio I am a huge lew's fan and I have used most of their stuff under $150. Very good product and amazing customer service
  7. I was thinking of getting a couple but they are only sold at academy and there are none near me and I like being to handle rods before I buy them.
  8. That sounds good to me . No experience with all star rods but the ratings sound good.
  9. I am also thinking of getting one to see how I like the new super low profile design bit I'm still a little iffy about the reel being graphite. The green will look good on the rod I'm thinking about putting it on.
  10. For Texas rigged senkos I like 10-15lb fluorocarbon. For wacky rig I like 20lb braid with a 7lb fluoro leader
  11. I would try maxima ultra green and Sufix seige, two of the toughest mono lines out there
  12. IMO the loop knot is worth learning because of the freedom it gives the lure. I really like it on walking baits like the sexy dawg and super spook.
  13. A better fluoro braid would be nice. The spider wire wasn't good at all. I know YGK makes a sinking braid but I haven't used it yet. The Sufix nano braid is not new, they are just making it in a new color
  14. Maybe try the flea market on this site.
  15. Yes. That would be good for topwaters around cover so that you can get the fish away from the cover
  16. I'm excited for the storm arashi spin to get my foot wet into spybaiting. Also going to get a pflueger president xt casting reel . The new live target swim baits look good. Also might try the new seaguar lines.
  17. When I first started fishing I Invented a rig that is probably the dumbest thing ever. It consisted of a half ounce egg sinker above a three way swivel with 2 10 lb leaders tied on and wacky rigged senkos on the end of each leader. So I guess you could call it the double wacky Senko carolina rig.
  18. I would recommend the Powell inferno and Abu Garcia veritas. Also the Berkley lighting rod shock is a very good rod for cheap.
  19. You will be alright. Just don't try to throw say a 10xd and you'll be fine
  20. Ouch! Last year while crappie fishing I got every single hook point of a pointer 65 stuck in my hand.
