  1. I personally love ASR rods. I haven't used all the rods you listed , but I have Mojo's, Carbonlites, and other rods in the 100 to 150 dollar price range and I like the feel of the ASR best of all. I own 4 of them.
  2. Wonder if this would apply to the STX, every one says its such a great reel but I don't think mine is right. My Curado's will out cast the crap out of it, no matter how its set. I use it, but don't enjoy it.
  3. For me its about being with someone I enjoy being with, weather its my wife,my son, my brother or a good friend. That's what makes fishing the best for me. I fish by myself many days and its just not the same...
  4. My brother likes Pline cxx and I tried it on his recommendation. Went back to Yo-zuri.
  5. I have Curado's, Citica's and an STX. I prefer the Curado and Citica over my STX. But thats me.
  6. I use a net on Pike and Pickerel , much safer getting my hooks out.
  7. I loosen mine periodically in the summer and for storage in the winter, now, if I could just remember to tighten them next time out..... ;D
  8. I try a different line every once in awhile on peoples recommendations and always come back to Yo-Zuri. I stay with 10# either soft or regular.
  9. I use the rubber soled gloves from Walmart or lowes. Use them for everything. Waterproof and cheap. Fairly warm but I cant fish with gloves. Cheap enough to try a pair. http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=14667911&findingMethod=rr
  10. Bought two new Allstar ASR rods for $100, half price. Took them out of packaging and one has a crook to the right. Is there a way to leave left tension on it for awhile and maybe straiten it out? Don't know if it is a defect or if it was the packaging.
  11. I may send it in to you for cleaning and tune up in the next month or so. Thanks for the reply.
  12. I have a older green Curado CU-200 I got used. Hasn't had much use as the guy owned it thought there was something wrong with it and come to find out, there were no brakes set and he didn't know it had any. But anyway, it doesn't cast nearly as far as my newer Curados, even after cleaning and lubing. Do you think that is normal? Have Curado's advanced that much?
  13. My goal is to enjoy what life I have left and fish as much as possible with friends and family. A new boat wouldn't hurt either.
  14. Wind is why I'm saving my pennies for a Power Pole ! I fish mostly shallow and it would be awesome to be able to stop and fish a spot without fighting with the trolling motor.
  15. Dude, they ended the closed season for bass in NY 3-4 yrs ago. Dec 1st - 3rd Sat in June is now catch and release, artificial lures only. You're welcome! PS- Good to see a fellow Binghamtonian on the board! Not all of New York is catch and release all year, my county being one of them. It sucks !
  16. Depends on what the fish are doing for me. Some days they just lay there and chew on it and you have to use the FORCE to even tell your getting a bite. ;D Other days they slam it and there's no doubt. On the days they slam it I give them about a second and stick them.
  17. If you put another split ring on the back, make sure the hooks are far enough apart so they don't foul each other. It happens a lot on some poppers anyway.
  18. That looks like a dandy but a little pricey for me. I bought a Rapala Lock-n-Grip at a discount house for 20 bucks. It seems to work when it wants to but its good enough for me, I just add a few ounces! ;D
  19. I have the 2010 model and I MUCH prefer a Curado. I cant say its bad, its just not what I like. My Citicas out cast it by the way. I'm hoping I got a lemon and they are not all that way. Also the finish doesn't seem real durable. Just my 2 cents, take it for what its worth.
  20. I try many lines on recommendations from people on this board and others and always end up coming back to Yo-Zuri hybred. Works for me.
  21. I enjoy fishing with soft plastics, period. That includes Senco's (or knock offs) flukes, creatures ect.I almost always have a Senco tied on one off the 5 or 6 poles in the boat. I have given countless hooks and Senco's to kids that were fishing at the boat launch and not catching diddly until they were shown the Senco's power. Same with adults, have taken lots of people fishing that have only used live bait and shown them how to catch fish on plastics. Not just Sencos but plastics in general. They are great as someone said, for newbies, but I suspect more people use them than they care to admit. Just my thoughts.
  22. I grabbed a pack of there flukes in a dark green and fished them awhile today. No takers but the bite had all but quit. There built a little heavier than Zooms and have a recessed belly for the hook. They should catch fish, just not today. :'(
  23. MaxumBass replied to MMan16's topic in Fishing Tackle
I use a 4 or 5 and prefer the Owner screw locks.
  24. Maybe it's my imagination, but the black color Senco's do not seem as durable. Lately its my go to color and they seem to tear in half where the hook goes in after one or two fish. I also fish the green pumpkin and they seem to be twice as durable. Any one else notice this or is it just me?
