  1. Ive caught Perch and even a Walleye on an Ila. One of my favorite baits!
  2. My bottle also worked great the first time I used it and was dried up a week later. I now use my soldering gun to melt them back together. I throw all used baits in a zip lock bag until I have enough to fool with. I have the same problem with super glue, its always bad the second time you want to use it.
  3. 1. Black Senko 2. Green pumpkin creature bait 3. Green pumpkin Fluke 4. Green pumpkin Fat Ika 5.Hula poppers 6. Buzz baits 7. Jig & pig 8. Rattle traps 9. Suspending jerk baits 10. Jig head with finesse worm Find myself in a soft plastic rut this year. :-/
  4. I have an STX that I can't seem to get adjusted to throwing light stuff also. I have one centrifugal brake on and the mag brake in the middle or wear ever I can put in without over running. I have a couple Curado's , a Citica all with the same line and basically the same rods and all will out perform the STX. I have a 60 dollar browning the can throw stuff farther. Maybe I got a bad one.
  5. I have a new STX and so far I am not happy with its performance. Just can't tune it to cast as far as my Shimano's without back lashing. May be me or I got a bad one. Not bashing ABU, just my experience.
  6. They are one of my go to baits! I just can't imagine NOT catching a bass on one. They seem very senko like as far as bites.
  7. I like the Allstar ASR series rods the best with St. Crois Mojo coming in a close second. The ASR feels better in my hand but its a personal preference thing. I feel the split grips make me LOOK like I know what I'm doing , even if I don't! ;D Max
  8. I think I have two so far, but I've only been fishing since April....... ;D
  9. Given a choice of which species to fish for, smallies wins every time in my book! I love how they fight when they see the boat. No quit in em' That said , I like shallow water fishing better, which means more Bigmouths. So in other words, I guess I like BOTH! ;D
  10. I think its good to have both, but I don't believe either puts fish in the boat. You can have all the confidence in the world, but if you don't know where the fish are, and don't present the right bait the right way, you are not going to catch squat! JimK
  11. I prefer the single blade. The double takes a lot more to reel in and it tires me out a lot quicker than the single. Have had good luck with Buzzbaits this year!
  12. Zoom Flukes have been one of my go to lures over the years. This year Cabellas Aguaglow "Hootchi Chootchi" jerk baits took over the favorite position. Impregnated with Garlic. Jim
  13. I returned a Rick Clunn and bought a Citica, couldn't be happier! I could get no distance from the R/C and pretty much tried everything. Maybe there was something wrong with it, as it gets great reviews, but the one I had SUCKED! The guy at the counter at BPS talked me out of exchanging and getting the Citica, haven't looked back! Jim
  14. Line conditioner seems to help me control over runs also . Try some, think you'll like it! Jim
  15. I kinda do the same thing. I throw the Ika on top of the slop and slowly drag it to the holes and let it sink. They must think its a frog or something. You get the best of both worlds, topwater and dead sticking with one bait! Caught a lot of them on a slow retrieve, the Ika stays right on top. Kinda use it as a search bait. JimK
  16. Well, if anyone finds one that holds everything, I'll take TWO! ;D
  17. THATS why my thumb is all rough and ragged after I've had a good day! ;D
  18. Try a product called Navel Jelly, Nothing to do with your belly button ;D). I have used it on various rusted items. Good luck
  19. I have been having good luck with these in white and shad color with a 5/0 hook. Just ordered 40.00 bucks worth! http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/product/standard-item.jsp?_DARGS=/cabelas/en/common/catalog/item-link.jsp_A&_DAV=MainCatcat20166-cat600387&id=0037412121242a&navCount=2&podId=0037412&parentId=cat600387&masterpathid=&navAction=push&catalogCode=8IS&rid=&parentType=index&indexId=cat600387&hasJS=true
  20. Well, they got the Prettty down for sure...
  21. I have an allstar ASR series that I love! Lightest rod I own. It was 99.00 at Cabellas. I think they have two topwater models in the ASR series. Maxum
  22. I have been using mostly hybrid lines, co-poly, and braid. After a professional birds nest on my Curado 200 (wind related) :, I had to cut the line off that night. All I had with me was some Stren 10# test mono that has been in my bag since Hector was a pup. Let me say that I was pleasantly surprised. The line seemed to cast farther, possibly do to more stretch? Even without conditioner it seemed to have no memory. I think I will leave it on for top water stuff as it seems to float more. Maxum
  23. It is over a year old but never used. It was the first bait caster I bought when I got back into fishing. I just thought it was me and just didn't use the thing. I still have receipt, and box, do you think BPS would warranty it?
  24. There has been a lot of talk about drags lately which brings up a question. How many people back there drags off when they are done fishing? I have heard its a good habit to get into but I very seldom think to do it. I DO try to back them off for winter storage tho..... Max
  25. I believe the Curados only have ten pounds of drag so you might be able to pull some with it locked up. Only had my Shimonos a few months but never tested the way you have. Someone here will know if thats normal. Max
