I don't know about you guys but after 40 years of Bass fishing this is one area I have not mastered. I have had them all, I have filled them up to weigh about as much as Rosey Odonol, then I say too much so i down size, after that I'm inevitably caught on the water without a bait thats would be working so I start filling them again and buy a larger one.

I currently have a soft sided BPS with plastic inserts, I'm starting to not like the zippered poach s that pour plastic worm bags all over the deck when I open them. Plus no spinner bait compartment.

Anyone feel my pain.

Yes.

So much so that I now use a gym bag.

I also use a carpenter's tool box when pond fishing.

My tackle boxes and bags are in the attic.  ;D

I have one large Rubbermaid pro series tackle box that I keep everything in that sits in my basement. I have several smaller tackle boxes that I fill with items from the large Rubbermaid box depending on what I am fishing for that day. I like to travel light, taking only what I need for the day instead of my whole collection.

My favorite box is my Flambeau 1 tray with the little tool racks on the sides. The rack holds my pliers, forceps, scissors and knife so they are always in easy reach. Best invention ever!

Just one gym bag?

I use the Plano plastic boxes for everything except plastics. They are labeled for size and season. I rotate them in and out of my boat due to season and conditions. All plastics are kept in original packages and hung on particle board in my garage. That way it is easy to keep a count on the ones that need to be restocked. As for a bag to carry them in it is usually a BPS plastic bag that a purchase came in. I just throw it in the boat and dig out the package I need.

I did the gym bag years ago, it got insanely heavy, i don't know I'm going to look at some others. What I need to do is weed out some colors I never use, but you know what will happen then.

I have the large green Okochobee fats bag from Wal Mart.  It has a lot of storage space in it.  I fill the main compartment with Falcon boxes and use the end compartments for plastics.  Tools and my scale go in the front pouch.  This thing is too heavy to pack around so it usually stays in my truck when bank fishing.

When I am bank fishing I carry a Plano 1350 Magnum Satchel.  This holds enough stuff for a good day of fishing and if I need something else I can go back to the truck and get it.

The bag is a good deal, it comes with a bunch of utility boxes but they are not very good.  There was another thread about this bag a few days ago you may want to check out.

Mostly fishing from the bank multiplies this problem by at least a factor of 10. Made do with a little 2 tray box (you wouldn't believe how much I crammed in it) until about 3 yrs ago. Went up to a whopping 3 tray Flambeau :-[ and now it is probably pushing 50lbs. ! Just don't think I'd like one of the soft bags and folks are using backpacks now but that would be awkward IMHO. Sure hope someone comes up with something before I get shipped off to the Nervous Hospital ;D...

I use a cabelas advanced angler backpack. Its very convienient for me as I do a lot of shore fishing. I can tie a lure on and move constantly quickly without the fuss.

My Christmas list this year will be a Falcon V12 speedbag (with all the boxes included) probably from Cabelas.  One of the members of our club has one and LOVES it.  Keeps raving about it; I took a look a few weeks ago and agree.  Great bag and those boxes keep everything organized.

Nothing beats a boat for holding all the tackle you need.  

And beleive me, anyone who owns a boat has stuffed it full.

Brad the problem with that is when you go to fish a tournament in your buddy's boat, never fails something you need is left behind.

i have this problem too, i think my next try will be the falcon V4 speedbag with two of the 2" storage boxes, one of the jig boxes and one of the crankbait boxes.  i think it will be what i am looking for, but who knows.

I know what you guys mean.  I hate fishing out of someone else's boat and having to take only part of the arsenal.  

I just use a duffle style tackle bag and put together baits in utilitty boxes that I know I will use at that lake at that time.

Okeechobe Fats. I am not sure I spelled that right.

I have a red Okeechobee Fats bag.  Had it for 3 years and still in near perfect shape.  Holds 6 decent size boxes in the main compartment, the 2 side compartments are good for smaller boxes of sinkers/ hooks/ small baits .  The front compartment has a nice zippered pocket for my maps/ license, 2 more small boxes, tape measure, flashlight, etc, etc.  It gets a little hefty when fully loaded but it's got plenty of space for my needs (river fishing mostly) and it has a shoulder strap so carrying it around isn't too straining.

I'm convinced there is no perfect do-it-all box. For one thing, acquiring lures is dynamic and ongoing while any individual tackle box is static. Therefore while your organizer remains the same, your needs change continually.

Enough philosophy. My personal solution is currently Plano 360 boxes in a commercial milk crate. Easy to transport and load, easy to rearrange inside the Planos. Throw in a CD wallet for spinnerbaits and I'm pretty well covered. Of course in a year I'll have modified it even further. ;D

I bought one of the Okachobee Fats bags this spring, the big green one. Man, you can get a ton of stuff in there!! I did switch out one of the boxes in it and substituted a Falcon spinnerbait box.
