Bass Pro Shop made their own S-Waver
Yeah these are obviously made by the same people that make the S Waver for R2S. I bet they have identical actions. I wish they had an 8", I might try it. I think this will allow more people to get into the big bait game, which is bad because I don't want fish getting conditioned to these things

Lure Review: RS Bass Candy
Here's my unbiased, honest initial review of the Reaction Strike Bass Candy swimbaits. I got two 7 inchers for $9 each and two 8 inchers for $10 each at overstock bait. Part 1.First impressions: not great. I got 2 8" and 2 7". It appears that there have been 2 versions of the bait. You can see that the 8" in the minnow color has a lot more range of movement in the joints. That one also came in a box while the other 3 came in clam packaging. The ones in the clam packaging have the bass harasser info on it - pretty embarrassing. I will admit that the paint jobs look quite nice. The hooks look cheap and are dull, though. Part 2: Swim Test This went better than expected. The 7" bait fell slowly and perfectly horizontal - to my surprise. It stands up on the hooks on the bottom. I could swim it slow or fast. The action is somewhere between a glide bait and a bull shad type swimbait. The 8" had 2 different types even though they didn't specify that when ordering. I think they changed the design at some point and one of mine is old stock. Essentially one was a fast sink and one was a moderate sink. These don't sink slowly like the 7" did. They kinda flop over on the bottom. However, the swim isn't bad. But you can't swim them slowly or it just goes straight. All of them have a bit of helicoptering on the cast. I haven't been able to actually fish them yet to see if they'll get bit but I bet they will. Overall they're not great baits but for the money (about $40 total for 2 7" and 2 8") they perform much better than expected. Additional details: the different version of the 8" has really cool eyes - they remind me of the eyes on a Hudd. But the other 3 baits have cheap sticker eyes. The 8" baits have "Bass Candy 9" printed on them even though they measure 8". Also it looks like the tail is held on by 2 pins. I bet I could pop them out and replace the tail with a soft plastic one..

They're just swimbaits, man. Expensive ones at that. Don't do it.

Frog rod logistics
A lot of people seem to be overlooking this guy's problem. He's short and therefore accidentally hits the water when jerking the rod downward. Not hard to understand. I'm 6'4", I have 13 more inches of room between me and the water to point my rod downwards and work a frog without unintentionally hitting the water with the rod tip.

Faster Bait Cast Reel Gear Ratios : The New Norm ?
This is a good point that is almost always overlooked. They should be advertising IPT instead of gear ratio for that reason, but that isn't as cool sounding... Something else worth pointing out is that when working plastics, especially weightless, high speed reels can cause you to work the lure too fast, especially for beginners who are impatient

The latest sale thread
I picked up some Lucky Crafts on sale at Cabela's today: a Sammy 128, a G Splash popper, and a 12 foot diving crankbait for $6 each. Is the Sammy 128 any good? I know people like the smaller ones a lot. If they're good I'm gonna go back and get more

Ultra-light Lures
@Bluebasser86 those Rebels are cool, and Rapala has a fairly new line of ultra light lures too. I like the tiny rippin raps

Ultra-light Lures
^ what he said. It wouldn't surprise me if you doubled your distance. You should never use 8lb line on an ultralight spinning rig

They work but so do your current baits. If you don't think it's worth it then it's not!

Impossible, especially on a youtube video. Edwin Evers won the last classic on BPS rods and reels

Finding a pattern
One's luck, two's a pattern Meaning: the first fish you catch in an area isn't necessarily enough to establish a pattern and stick with it. If you catch 2 or more in the same area in similar structure & cover then you found a pattern. But the exact area isn't as important as the details. An example would be: I caught one on the outside edge of the hay grass off a point in 6' of water earlier, I've tried other things since then that didn't work, and I just caught another (even if it was in a different spot) on the outside edge of hay grass off a point in 6' of water... That's the pattern. So you need to hop from spot to spot fishing the outside edge of hay grass off points in roughly 6' of water. It doesn't have to be that specific, that was just an example. It could be that you're catching them in 6-8ft or near grass or near timber, or a combination of those things you see what I'm getting at? Every fish you catch is a clue to help you put together a pattern.

What Would You Consider a BFS Lure?
Yeah, the weight criteria is whatever your BFS rod is rated for also, it's Baitcast Finesse System
