  1. Jig Man, you took the words right out of my mouth, er, fingers. www.lowrance.com has an excellent turorial for both sonars and GPS units.
  2. You have a NEW boat with LEATHER seats that are tearing? I would take it back to the dealership you bought it from. The dealership should replace/repair them at no cost to you. You must have a very high quality boat. I've never heard of leather seats in a fishing boat. All the seats I've ever seen are vinyl. ;D
  3. Redsyn, I have an SE-9. The best way to save money is to buy the boat without the floorboards or the motor-mount support board. If memory serves, SeaEagle wants over $200 for the boards. I built them myself for about $40. All you need is a saber saw, some hardware and paint. PM me with your e-mail address and I will send you photos and drawings for the boards at no charge BTW here's my SE-9. As you can see, I've made a few mods to it, including the wheels and the swivel seat.
  4. Dom, you are watching the wrong channels. 95% of my viewing time is spent on the History, Discovery or Science channel. This eliminates a WHOLE lot of BS.
  5. Well, he said it was a little humor - very little. ;D
  6. Both LSU and OU will be playing teams that they will probably stomp today. I'm not sure how a win by either team will affect the BCS rankings, but you never know what the BCS computers will spit out.
  7. I suffer from amenesiphobia (fear of amnesia,) but I can't remember why. Also, judging by the balance in my checking account, I seem to be suffering from chrometophobia (fear of money.)
  8. Avid, thanks for the link. Looks like a great knot! With my shakey hands, I should easily be able to tie that knot in an hour or so.
  9. Surfer, I used a red bucket for my test. If you want me to perform further tetsing on your behalf, the price will be $75 per hour, three hour minimum, payable in advance. ;D ;D ;D
  10. d**n, I hate being so new to bass fishing. :-[ All this time I thought Bitsy Bugs were those critters that infested the hairy areas below the belt line. It never occured to me that you could catch bass with them. Avid, how do you get them to stay on your hook?
  11. I'm not a doctor, but I watched an actor who played one on TV. Have you considered slashing your Carotid arteries to remove the blood pressure in your cranial veins?
  12. Several months ago I brought this same subject up and was told that my braid was a smaller diameter than my flouro and was cutting into the flouro. Either double up the braid when tying your knots, or increase the size of your flouro. I switched to 30# braid with a 20# flouro and have had no problems since. I tried doubling the braid, but I have a tremor conditions and it was just too much for me.
  13. I used to use braid with a fluorocarbon leader. Nowadays Berkeley has a new Fireline braid called Crystal. It's snow white. I placed a short length of both fluoro and Crystal in a gallon bucket of water and could see very little difference in line visibility. Bear in mind that I was above the water, not in it, so the test was hardly scientific. Anywho, I've spooled up a couple of my reels with crystal, just to see if it performs better than the fluoro. I'm sold on braid, but having to use a leader has always made me uneasy. One more know to worry about.
  14. I have the H2O and love it - but I wish I had bought the H2Oc. The H2O will do everything you want it to do and more, but jeez that screen is hard to read in bright sunlight. The color version would be much better. In the short year that I've had my H2O, I've become so enamored with the advantages of GPS that next week I will be replacing my depth finder with a Lowrance 522C combo unit.
  15. I would recommend to any and all that you start using a gasoline additive called StarTron with every fill-up. It's an enzyme-based product that continually eats away at the bad stuff in your tanks and carbs. Plus, it keeps your gas stable for a year or more. I was introduced to it by a friend, and it seems as if my motor runs better every time I take it on the water.
  16. For what it's worth, I've heard the Bounce sheets are a good insect repellent also.

Very nice looking boat, Avid, but I can't figure out where you store all of your dynamite er, lures.
  18. To DEb and Wayne - Great info folks! Much appreciated.
  19. Well, er, I assume that you have a GPS unit into which you can insert the chip. If you do, then just insert the chip into the unit. Everything else will happen automatically. After the chip uploads, the added detail on lakes and inland saltwater features will be amazing.
  20. If you're lucky, it's simply a part of life. To ease a loved one's final days, just by being there, is both a burden and a privilege. The burden is the painful loss. The privilige is being there to hold a dying hand and to know, deep down, that you were loved, and that your presence helped ease the passing.
  21. LSU pulled everything out of its ample arsenal of stupidity in a valiant attempt to lose to Bama, but thankfully, they screwed that up too.
  22. Avid, since you refuse to post pics, I will put my SeaEagle9 up against yours at any/time place. My boat is equipped with Lowrance GPS and depthfinder electronics, a 54 lb TM, and a 50cal machine gun on the bow. ;D
  23. How close are the chalets and cabins to the main hotel complex? What I'm getting at is what kind of hike is required to reach the main gathering area. Also, do we have to import our own booze? Thanks, Mike
