  1. AT LAST! A KINDRED SPIRIT!!! I can't wait to meet him!
  2. Sorry, pal, but if you are betting real money, have invested 30 grand, and have earned only $400, I would have to say that you need to get another hobby. That is one crappy return on investment. If you bought a $30,000 CD paying only three percent, you would have made $900. Your post may have been made in jest, but if it wasn't, I perceive it as a cry for help. There are a few of us regulars here who can give you sound advice, but alas, I'm not one of them. Hopefully they will chime in.
  3. Welcome home, and thanks for your service to our country. You said that you moved to BFE in Missouri, but you have a mall and a BPS close at hand. It sounds to me that you left BFE in July and landed in paradise. ;D
  4. Hey Muddy, what's goin' on here? Before I ordered my MOOK T-Shirt you told me that a Mook was a term used for the elite of Society! Because I am glamorous and beautiful, I naturally ordered one of the shirts. Only now, after I have been wearing the shirt proudly for the last several weeks, do I learn the awful truth. I am shocked, chagrined and mortified! All this time I thought people were pointing at me and whispering to each other because they recognized that an Adonis walked among them. I can only guess what the people were saying to each other, but I suspect it was something like "There goes another stupid Mook. You don't often see them this far South." Muddy, how could you do this to me? :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :
  5. I quit drinking the stuff. I enjoy it so much it makes me forget my name.
  6. I agree with Frogtog. No problems whatsoever. Attaboy, Glenn!
  7. Please remove my name from the list of candidates. I am not worthy. Besides, I'm too much of an old grouch. Avid gets my vote, despite all his faults, or maybe, because of them. ;D
  8. I can't believe no one has mentioned Tolkein's "Lord of the Rings." I read the trilogy three times, at least ten years before it ever appeared on screen.
  9. Been there, done that. I agree with George. Go to a canvas shop with your boat cover. The shop will recognize the type of material it is made from and will recommend the appropriate sealer. Sealers are not cheap. Expect to pay no less than $40 a gallon. One gallon should easily take care of your 17' boat. One tip I received from the canvas shop was to pressure-wash the cover and let it dry before applying the sealer.
  10. The female will be wearing lipstick.
  11. For those of you with the scroll bar problem, change your screen resolution to at least 1024X768 pixels. This should correct your problem. Glenn, a VERY nice job.
  12. Robert, were you trying to learn something from your post, (e.g. data gathering) or were you trying to make some sort of point? With all due respect, this sort of post achieves nothing. Tomorrow, I'm going to post that the Farmers Almanac predicts that the world will end on January 12, 2008. I may or may not receive a response, but I hope all responses quote Shakespeare to me "... A tale told by an idiot. Full of sound and fury, signifying nothing." There is an old adage. If the shoe fits, wear it. I think the shoe will fit both of us tomorrow.
  13. Ain't gonna happen. Remember the Oklahoma ice storm? Five days without power. Got it back last night. The only thing left to do is to get the tree off my truck and out of the driveway. The wife and I can go back to work, and I can mail the package. I figure that will happen sometime Monday afternoon, if I'm lucky.
  14. Jeremy, as you know, I've been freezing my azz off for the last five days. The very last thing I wanted to do this evening was to take a stroll with my dog when I finally have heat in my home. Besides, it's pouring rain, so I doubt that I would have seen any meteors. That said, I wish I could have been there. I never tire of watching meteor showers.
  15. True or not, geez, that was a knee slapper! I haven't laughed so hard in a long time.
  16. Uh, er, Russ, Australia is generally called "Down Under," not the "Outback." The "Outback" of Australia is the arid, inland region. There are very few boats in the Outback.
  17. I couldn't get the link to work either. I did something wrong or it's that piece of crap Vista on my computer. Since the pictures won't show up, I will tell you that a tree fell across both my Suburban and my boat. Luckily, no major damage was done to either. About $2000 to the truck. The boat will need a new trolling motor and jack. BTW, when the power went out so did my internet access. They both came back up this evening. I've been "Jonesing" for a BR fix. ;D
  18. Most of you are aware that Oklahoma just suffered its worst ice storm in recorded history. Initially, over 700,000 homes were without power. Living in Tulsa, I got caught right in the middle of it. After five days, my power came back on this evening. Luckily, I have a generator, so we were able to power the fridge, some lighting, and a couple of small space heaters. Using the heaters and the fireplace the temperature in the living area never fell below 62. One the other hand, I don't believe the temperature in the bedrooms ever got above 40, but that's what comforters are for. All in all, we made do. I had only two small problems - my truck and my boat.
  19. Now that was knee slappin' funny! Laughed my butt off!
  20. This is great! I was looking for a place to dump my Loomis GLX. ;D ;D ;D
  21. I tried it for about thirty seconds. That one is for the young and dexterous, not for the old and arthritic. :'(
  22. Frogtog, I want to be the first to invite you and your pot of stew to the Guntersville BR get-together next March. I'm sure you are a very nice guy, but if you can't make it, can you send the pot of stew? ;D ;D ;D
  23. Redneckriot, that one cracked me up. Despite your support, this thread has as much of a chance of becoming a sticky as snowballs have in hell.
