Fish what's comfortable. I'm a righty. I by right handed reels (baitcasting and spinning). I cast with two hands, one on the reel and the other on the butt of the reel. I can switch hands if needed depending on the angle of the cast I need to make.

Can't go wrong with these, great lures for the price. The 40 size is great and can be thrown on conventional rods.

There's a launch right in waltham that has some good fishing. You can go either way a couple of miles before reaching a dam or bridge in your Kayak.

I Ike the PVC idea but I'd like to store them with the reels on and have something on the end that can encompass the reels and be lockable

Has anyone found (or even better...made) some sort of tube to store rods on top of their car/truck? I know their are options out there (rod vault, Rod Pod etc.) but I'm not looking to drop half a grand on some pipes. Just curious to see what anyone has come up with.

It's a great frog rod. I love mine and it's got plenty of power. Best part is its very light so walking a frog is not tiring.

Yea, the "Im just looking for something to throw swaver 168s and mini slammers" quickly turns into "which custom rod builder has the best rod suited to 9oz glide baits?". I'm not there yet but there's no stopping it once it starts.

Tuna steaks are sooooo good, I usually just sear the outsides a bit.

The last couple days were bad for me (well...good for me, bad for my bank account). I have a fishing Instagram to follow lure makers, companies and general fishing. So when some sale happens or someone releases a batch of something... I usually know about it. I have a small mental list of "buy now, think later" lures (mostly swimbaits) where if I see them up for sale I just get them cause they go so fast. I had like three or four baits from that list drop the last two days. Gonna be a fun week of getting packages but a painful week of paying off the card lol.

Yea I almost considered just grabbing one for the 10 dollar price but like I said, the swimbait monkey the last couple days was relentless.

I went toe to toe with the bait monkey and won! I was at the field and stream in Harrisburg PA and they had Teckel Sprinkers marked down from 17 to 10....AND a buy 5 get 5 deal. 10 Sprinkers for 50 bucks is a heeeelllll of a price. But I figured I don't need 10 of them lol. Unfortunately my victory against the bait monkey was only possible due to a recent run in with the swimbait monkey who did far more damage lol.

I only just got into it the last couple years. It's definitely fun tossing even a 200 swaver on an 8ft rod. Makes my other gear feel tiny when I switch back lol.

I hate wishing away parts of the year and there's other stuff I enjoy doing in the summer, but it's been brutal for me fishing wise... Bring on fall.

I don't even own glides other than the 168 and 200 Swaver, but when I think big glide baits I think Deps 250 size baits or bigger. Unfortunately 100 to 200 or more for a new bait is not uncommon and the custom baits are the majority of your choices. And in that category you NEED dedicated gear whereas with Swavers and the bait in the OP you can get away with conventional gear or entry level swinbait gear. And those bigger glides there are few budget options, and the ones that are (baitsanity for example) are only "budget" for the category, they're still like 70 bucks.

@Mr. Aquarium You getting out for any night fishing? That's my last hope at this point lol. Pretty sure my biggest fish this year came at night back in the spring.

Looks decent. There are definitely affordable options for smaller glide baits. It's the big glides that the wallet unfortunately has to come out.

For me when I go out it's to catch average size fish or better. To me a dink is about a lb or less. Not gonna complain about catching one but if I go out and catch only drinks I don't consider it a successful outing. Doesn't mean I didn't have fun but again, mission failed so to speak.

Good to know I'm not alone. Went out again today for about 5 hours at Whitehall...not a fish, not a bite. Tried frogs and punching the thick stuff, worms big and small, shallow and deep, around cover and on deeper structure. Tried big and small swimbaits on top and cranked down ticking the tops of weedbeds. Easily the most frustrating outing of the year. I'm at a loss this summer. I've been able to downsize (significantly) and get numbers the last couple months but they're average to dink size. Like you said, hopefully fall brings some change of pace. I think I'm gonna take a break the next few weekends and take the chance to do some other outdoor stuff and refocus a bit.

Back in town for the weekend and hit quinsig today. Got a bit a of a late start (7:30ish) and with the wind and clouds I was hoping for a change of pace but nope, still slow going. My dad fished his usual stuff (jigs, spinnerbaits, paddle tails) and I decided to stick it out with some swimbaits. I ended up getting two of the three bass of the day. Both were probably 1.5lbs and decided they were gonna try and swallow a 9" slammer. Well they got the front hook and that's all that counts haha. It's kind of sad when ice fishing for a couple months this past winter was more productive for bass than open water has been all year...Is anyone else having a slow year or is my head just not in the game?

Not to nitpick but does the lid have to stay open like that when in use or is it detachable? For me at least it would be a huge pain to have a wall next to my foot like that.

They do destroy them more than the other types but I've found the others will just slide off without glue.

It's been a while since I've made a major fishing purchase... Bait monkey has been awfully quiet. I'm suspicious.

I don't pour but I definitely prefer jogheads with wire keepers.
