  1. You could with some special drop shot hooks. But have you ever seen a Palomar knot? Its really just and overhand knot like tying a shoe and is twice as strong as a trilene knot. Anyway here's the hook that will work
  2. That's terrible, I can't imagine. I will pray for you and your family man. Idk what you may or may not believe in but I have faith that just as Christ died and was raised to life again, so too the believers who have died will be raised as well.
  3. I could name brands but pretty much any ribbon tail worms. I have many, but trick worms and all the new designs like the ultravibe have taken there place. Zara spook used to be the only walking bait I threw. The sexy dawg just works so effortlessly and has much better hardware. I still have some spooks but they don't get wet.
  4. I do when I remember to think about it. I put it in a easily accessible compartment
  5. I bought one off a member on here for around $40. It was worth it, if you use that color a lot it should be worth it but I don't know what it retails at.
  6. Idk if you saw it or not but just before Christmas they had a "winning ways" episode that showed how 6 of the top finishers won their round. They showed the technique, bait and pattern on a similar lake. It was interesting to watch
  7. I'm also a fan of MLF. If you have the ability to pause live TV, do so when they show the lake map and where all the anglers are. Now its way zoomed out but it does have contour lines. If you look at it, even from a broad view you can tell they are fishing structure. They also study the lake maps just before launch and then have to quickly decide and evaluate the structure and cover situations on there 15 min ride around. Its not a good show to try to copy because as you said everything is rushed and there is a lot of stuff not shown. The pros are also probably a little too stressed to explain things how we might like them too
  8. That's what I needed to know.thanks a lot man
  9. I decided to start tying up my own jigs for some custom colors and had a few questions. I watched a video already by a member on here named smalljaw so I've got a basis. I Bought a bunch of skirt material but wanted to use some rubber along with silicon. My question is what is the difference between round and flat rubber? What is living rubber? Are there any other kinds I should know about before I buy? Thanks
  10. Seems reasonable price if its in as good a shape as picture (they can be deceiving)
  11. Sounds like a sweet spot Catt. Not only does it hold big bass but most people will never find it if it ain't on a screen showing em.
  12. I don't normally get that lucky but it was academy sports?
  13. Story of my life. I just paid $99 last week for mine
  14. Spooks and poppers. Worked a little quicker than normal
  15. Having just done my own and taking on a couple older ambassadeur reels for a friend I have to say that 20 bucks is a great price! I had 2 and a half hours in just one of those ambassadeurs.
  16. I guess it just depends on the body of water. The only concerns I know of around here is the mercury content. I fish the Chattahoochee river and about 3 hours north of me around Atlanta the people wont eat anything out of it. well I'm just down river and eat fish all the time.
  17. Good summary, and yes it seems I must read his book to see what all the fuss is about. Hard to make time since I'm currently on a theology kick but maybe once its on the coffee table ill find time to read through. If this threads wrapping up I guess ill get to reading the some others, last few days I got on here just to check this one out. Thanks for starting this Catt, and all the others who participated. It was a great discussion!
  18. I understand both points y'all are making. Team9 keep it simple and Paul asking why. Both are good points and I don't think team9 is saying don't ever question the details but I wanted to add that asking "why" every time I catch a fish has probably helped me more than anything else when it comes to finding and catching fish. Its how I started to learn how to develop a pattern and in my opinion is KEY to consistently catching fish.
  19. fish can be right on it or suspended above it. In most cases if they're right on it they are active, if they're suspended above it they're usually inactive. I like to make contact with the bottom most of the time.
  20. I use them all the time on swim jigs which is about the same thing. The tail flaps like crazy
  21. I run all baitcasters except for one spinning setup and it is used for weightless plastics and other light lures. There are baitcasters and rods designed to throw the light lures but I don't own any. It takes a special setup that goes beyond just line choice. I reccomend using the baitcaster for 1/4 and up lures and use spinning for the rest. Even 1/4 oz give me trouble at times especially the small pop-r's that you mentioned. They seem lighter than a 1/4 and don't cast well for me on baitcaster. I use spinning for them too.
  22. my eye immediately went to some pinch points like the market street point and the other long point on the opposite side of channel. there are many old roadbeds right there as well. Then just south a hump labeled "Indian mound". also where sugar and bald eagle points meet. Just a few I noticed quickly
  23. Seems "ditches" come into play in a lot of tournaments or its at least a popular term used by the pros to describe a break? I can't really say for sure that I've ever found but one true ditch and it was a man made ditch next to a submerged road.
  24. Go to webapp.navionics.com Find your lake and zoom in on it, then post the link on here. I couldn't find it myself but that doesn't mean its not there.
