  1. I'm no expert by any means but the slowee ratio is mainly reccomended for deep diving cranks. It has to do with the dive angle and keeping your bait in the right depth. When your cranking the first third of the cast it diving the middle is the desired depth and the last third the bait is ascending up to the boat. The slower real is suppose to make it easier to keep the bait in that middle depth for as long as possible. This can be done with any ratio but is easier with a slower gear.
  2. Jacob Wheeler has been doin some real damage, if he keeps up his pace he will be a household name in bass fishing
  3. Really a decision only you can make @Senko loverlover For me I didn't have many options and the national guard really jump started my life. Gave me a job skill and something to put on a resume. I didn't take advantage of the full time college but did take an online course and they paid the bill in full. I also recieved a VA home loan which helped me buy my first house. I've done some pretty cool disaster relief but went inactive just before my unit got called to deploy so never been overseas. The military isn't for everybody and most will agree that it comes with its share of BS but it also gives many benefits. It all depends on what you have in mind for yourself. Do your research and decide if its for you. The biggest advice I can give is if you do decide to join, try your best to get a sign on bonus and be weary of recruiters. I missed out on 20 grand because my recruiter pushed me through in a big hurry looking out for himself. Good luck with whatever you decide and if you have any more questions about the national guard feel free to message me.
  4. Its on my bucket list for sure. Sounds awesome. Scrounger heads sure are popular down there for catching big UN's. Thanks for sharing
  5. I've ruined plenty of barbs on accident trying to bend out my hollow body frog hooks so I can attest to it being easy
  6. There really is no right answer here. With limited space you will have to change what you bring each trip depending on your gameplan, aka where you plan to fish/time of year/and local conditions. Basically bring what you plan to use and as much other stuff as possible. The good thing is that your fishing on your sons boat so I doubt he will mind giving you any tackle you didn't bring.
  7. What kind of hooks you got on that RES? They did their job on that double
  8. Anyone else tired of lake of the Ozarks? They had about 8 episodes in a row there
  9. One is more than enough for me. Especially since she has very long hair. I have to cut it out of the roller on the vacuum cleaner and the shower is another story.
  10. Pretty cool how they compare, I'm drawn to the eyes on them. I worry about the weighted bill tho. Seems if its not placed perfectly the baitt wouldn't run true meaning a lot of so-so or duds. Depending if you could compensate with adjustments to line tie
  11. Been wanting to ask you about them. Get em wet yet?
  12. Super cool
  13. This is exactly what makes me feel it will be weakened. I don't know how many cast I make in a day of fishing but it seems like more than enough to hurt the knot constantly rubbing against the guides. I can see this is my issue and may not hold any sand but you gotta do what makes you confident, even if I'm the only one lol
  14. Sounds like a good reason to get into airbrushing your own cranks.
  15. Welcome ken. Glad to have you man
  16. I think this could be useful for some situations but I can't get ovee how the leader knot goes through micro guides easily.it seems after a day of fishing the knot would be severely weakend. I know Darren said it works and I have no reason not to believe him but for me its too much of a gamble to possibly lose a new PB.
  17. I have a helix 5 but have never ran into this problem. Maybe try to do a reset to default settings to see if it goes back.
  18. I've been running quicksilver synthetic in my 97 since it came out and I noticed it was the same price. No real difference noticed, maybe a little less smoke but smoke is normally due to over mixing your oil. I also use champions but only because that's what my engine calls for. Nothing wrong with NGK or any other brand for that matter although I have had issues with Bosch plugs.
  19. Im sure it will catch a fish but I don't see any need coming up with a new name for every slight modification to hook placement. (Statement not intended at OP) I guess from now on when I don't rig a swimbait perfectly straight and I catch some fish I'll tell people I was using the "Alabama twister rig"
  20. I've done this but never had it last 2 hrs. That kinda day will ruin you.
  21. I've never seen one but don't really understand the point. They don't dive themselves so how does it run?
  22. I've never tried it either but I've seen it in the bass pro magazine. I think its called the buzzfrog Agreed. I've been in a lot of creeks like that and struck out completely, it looked like in the end it had some decent water flow coming out of it so maybe that was the difference
  23. Yea ive noticed the whopper gets thrown a lot in MLF recently. Of course Ott and mark rose had plenty of bites on buzzbaits too so maybe that was just the pattern of the day
  24. I know many on here enjoy watching MLF like I do so mind as well have a topic for it. First up, you gotta give Ott Defoe credit today. Not only did he make a gutsy move but caught a 4 pounder. I was rooting for him in the end but never would of guessed he would catch one like that in that skinny little creek. Congrats to him
