  1. It helps me to have both. I don't really have 2 rods just for this but will often have 2 rods rigged with plastics if that's what there biting that day. To me wacky rig is the best follow up bait and if I ever get hung up on a really good lay down or brush pile and I believe there to be fish there, I will pick up the other rod and continue to fish it instead of ruining the spot trying to retrieve lure right away.
  2. I see what you mean. The one I picked up was a 7ft MH fast. When I look online they don't list it but my wife took picture of it so she would pick the right one. I see what you mean. 3. When you say they use them, do you know how they like em? Is the allstar very similar? If it is, what hurts it in the grass?
  4. I've read these, along with every other topic in the sticky. Guess I need to read again. Thanks
  5. Wanted to post an update about what I saw at the lake Thursday. Was fishing down the bank of main lake about 50 yards from a decent sized cove and and had a few thousand shad schooled up around me just under the surface. It seemed they were making circles but slowly moving north up the lake. Nothing chasing or feeding. THEY WERE NOT IN THE CREEKS. So either this kinda shatters some of what I believed happens in fall or it has just yet to happen on my lake. What do y'all think? If they are still migrating to the creeks I might have taken my vacation early. Was hoping to catch the time when bass were feeding the heaviest. Opinions?
  6. Was walking the isles at academy yesterday and came across the H20 xpress bone daddy rods. I think its marketed as a saltwater rod but picked one up and it felt pretty good in my hands. Anyone have this rod? I don't own a single rod over $60 but been wanting a more sensitive jig rod and thought about getting the wife to pick this up for Xmas. Thanks
  7. 30 # braid is all I use for jigs. Gives me the best feel plus strength. I can't stand fluro
  8. Please quote or tag me when you post the link
  9. The river ledge is just as you say. The edge of the river or sides. On the map it will be where the contour lines are closest together. Now for your other question about a good summer ledge. This will more than likely be different for every body of water but I seem to find the most fish on Creek ledges right next to a flat and not too far away from main river channel. Hope this helps
  10. Same here with only 1, too big to pass had to have surgery. No one can understand unless you've had one. Sorry pal
  11. Hard to give answers with such a small amount of information. So best I can do is give a vague answer The bass should be feeding up for winter so they are wherever the bait is. And just a guess but my bet is around the hydrilla
  12. I'm guessing you forgot to post the pic?
  13. Haha I clicked on this topic thinking I was guna see something like the rig A-jay posted awhile back so I could get jealous. No need to worry. All serious tho nice little back up. Just threw me off guard
  14. Well I fished Thursday and friday. The fished have moved so I spent most of the day searching. I did get to see something else pretty cool. I followed a few thousand shad schooled up just under the surface. Nothing was chasing them so no fishing but was cool to watch. They moved slowly for about 50 yards. It seemed as tho they made circles and made slow progression but were moving in a direction. They were not in a creek so that disproved some of the typical fall stories. Maybe its not time yet or maybe this group just stays out but we were in about 20 FOW moving along a ledge about 40 yards away from main river bank. Water surface temp was low 70's
  15. That's pretty cool, I've never been in a situation to watch bass on a regular basis. Especially not some big girls. Good story
  16. Nope I can't either
  17. When im out fishing any baits that I change get tossed in the corner of my storage compartment. I only put them back in the plano boxes at the end of the day or even the next day so they are totally dry then. I don't really do this for rust more of just laziness while on the water but it works
  18. I tried a few different things but will be going again Thursday to see if I can figure it out. Will be paying more attention this time to how I reacted
  19. Another vote for bomber model A
  20. Wow That's a lot of boats for that lake. Well congrats, you got one down. I don't have experience in this but I bet they get easier from here.
  21. I understand the point of this topic but I would stand up for all that are effected by cancer. It seems we all know someone who has had to deal with it. God bless you all.
  22. We'll the good thing is that there's no rain in sight so conditions will stay the same and I've got another week vacation coming up. Should be able to make the adjustments. Thanks everyone
  23. @"hamma" Makes alot of sense. Its like getting the shakes when a buck walks out in the woods. I don't remember how I reacted that day but I will pay more attention next time. Its seems its easier to catch fish you can't see.
  24. Been doing a lot of fishing the past few weeks and the waters around me are clearer than I've ever seen. So I'm getting to see things like I never have. The main thing I'm seeing especially yesterday is bass following my lures and not biting. I tried a lot of different baits and the bass showed interest but wouldn't strike. Jigs, worms, flukes, cranks they turned em all down. At one point I dug out a jerkbait and that really made em come out of cover but they would get right up at it and just stop and watch it for a min. Nothing I did seem to make a strike. I did catch a few but missed many more. I'm trying to figure out why. There was bait everywhere and I wonder with so much real food around were my lures just not good real enough in the clear water? This also makes me question how often this has happened before and I never knew since I can't normally see. Anyone else experience this?
  25. I use lakemaster. I've never had navionics on a finder but I do use there website to scope out places on computer since you can use it for free. I have a helix 5 and I really like my lake master chip. Great coverage in my area and 1ft contours. The thing that always screws me up between the two is that navionics shades the deepest water white and shallow water blue. Lake master is the opposite. Dark blue should be deep, that's just how my mind works
