  1. Might also want to tell them there is an upgraded transducer you can get for that unit and if you get it swapped when its new you save a good bit of money. I believe its called XHS 9 HDSI 180 T. This has better detail due to different imaging crystals. The unit comes with transducer and mount for unit along with all hardware needed
  2. Yes it has both
  3. That is also personal preference. I like to navigate and search from the console but I also need to be able to see something when I'm fishing on deck. You could get one finder with 2 mounts and 2 transducers so you can move the finder to wherever you are at. Buying a swizel mount is ok but when using the gps it confuses me looking backwards at a map. I prefer 2 separate units but I can't afford the ones that link up so I am forced to make double waypoints which is a drag but saves me a lot of dough
  4. anyone using these? Just saw them today for the first time but it seems like it would work great. I haven't really been drop shotting for that long but these hooks should save line, rigging time and make changing leader size way quicker? so anyone using them and if so how you like em?
  5. There will be a slight difference in width between those sizes. All I can say is as long as it is in the right load range you should be fine
  6. You got it bud. Its your home lake and I know we both have been down similar paths trying to learn to follow the bass throughout the year. Idk if you remember answering a lot of questions for me about a year ago but it showed that you had truly spent time on the water. Don't second guess yourself and have fun. Good luck
  7. Few still on ledges
  8. Sorry I didn't read post well enough. With a chunk that doesn't get run up on the hook I would go with the smaller size.
  9. Honestly both. But depending on the trailer some can be shortened by biting some off
  10. Yes you can. The further the trailer is in the water the easier it will be. I drive mine on about 3/4 of the way and winch the rest but you can do it however you want. Boat slides better when carpet on bunks is wet
  11. With $500 bucks I would have 3 or 4 combos vs just one. I own all BPS pro qualifier reels and have zero issues. I also don't buy high dollar rods. All of mine are under a $100. I know many tournament anglers who use similar equipment and catch the same or even more fish than guys with expensive setups. Being a good angler has nothing to do with your wallet.
  12. If thats the case then all the good spots are takin. Its not uncommon for me to see a heron every 50ft on all the best looking laydowns
  13. I use braid for those but if I didn't it would be trilene big game
  14. Another vote for rage tail menace
  15. Try to answer some of these questions. The slow sloping from 5 to 9ft in 50ft is structure but its not what your looking for. In this particular lake you might not see many of the things Catt describes in his post. Hard to believe the deepest spot in that big of a lake is 9ft. Anyway I would say your best bet is to find cover but this doesn't have to be on the bank like you said. With a shallow depth like this I would guess the bass to be relating to cover almost all the time. What kind of vegetation are in the lake? Just guessing but I would think there is a lot of grass or pads since the sunrays should be able to reach bottom in most places? This is where the bait fish will congregate for food & shelter and the bass will too for the same reasons.
  16. That's pretty much what I thought but just wanted to ask since I never see any humps that size. Thanks
  17. @Bass_FanaticFanatic Is that green area on the map the hump?
  18. If I'm ever tired of fishing, a week at work normally changes that
  19. Getting a boat setup for you takes time spent on it. I customize all my boats so that they are setup for how I use it. Doing this always means taking it out and fishing. This is where the ideas come from. The thing a boat can never have enough of is space. When it comes to modifying aluminum Jon boats you should really check out tinboats.net. things can add up quickly and trying to mod a boat to be something its not will only end in dissapoitment so my advice is just get the best boat you can afford that will fit your needs the best the way it is. Then you can make smaller modifications to fit you better. Oh and welcome to BR!
  20. Me and you both buddy. Been saving a lot of vacation time for the next 2 months.
  21. Hmm let's see Definitely Catt at Toledo bend In the summer for structure fishing Everythingthatswims cuz this kid is one heck of an outdoorsman. And can catch whatever he decides too that day. Hootie cuz he seems like a character and would be fun to fish with A-jay cuz he has a nice new boat and shouldn't have any problem putting us on the fish Wrb to try for a dd bass That's all for now but I've got more
  22. This is wrong. I got these confused with the freedom swing heads. The hooks on this jig cannot be changed. Sorry
  23. Black/blue jig with blue craw trailer of your choice
  24. I too really like this new bladed jig. Can be fished basically anywhere in any cover but since I bought them I've only caught one fish although I haven't used it a whole lot lately but glad to hear its working for others.
  25. Good write up. They are getting me excited too soon as well. Its like how the stores sell Christmas stuff around Halloween.
