  1. My boat gets stored in a barn and I cant seem to keep mice out of the boat. They just ate some more wiring which caused 2 tilt/trim wires to short out and run for idk how long. and im ready to burn it down. They've cost me 2 nets, a transducer cable, and tons of rope. What do you do to keep them out? I have tried a few different things. I can tell you for a fact that mothballs and dryer sheets do NOTHING! there was literally mothballs around a nest I pulled out. I have traps in boat but I would really like to prevent them from getting in instead of killing them afterwards. any help please?
  2. That's ok your from Eufaula. We understand. . . JK bud
  3. I like to call myself a jig guy. Its the lure I use 90% of the time and I have varying opinions. While I understand what Catt is saying about ROF the most important factor for me is to maintain a feel for the bottom, and I do this by changing weights. If the water never moved and the wind didn't blow I would only throw 1/4 ounce jigs, I only up weight when these factors cause me to not feel the jig as it moves across the bottom or brush. The other major factor for me is matching the color to the craws in my area. There are exceptions but for example right now in my area they are brown/reddish orange and anything with red or orange is getting slammed even by inactive fish.
  4. Go to college and sign up. I don't think they allow non students to join tho
  5. There was a tourney that day. The day before(Friday) is when I went to the river. Friend of mine from church fished in it and said he caught fish all day but only had a 5 fish weight of 8 something. The 2 guys who won it had 12 so not many big ones being caught right now on river. And according to him the big fish on the lake are on ledges. Until we get a chance to fish together I'd be glad to continue sharing info as this time of year is the toughest for bass fishing on Eufaula.
  6. Gotcha. well I don't get to go too much during the week and my wife normally comes with me but I always save vacation days for the fall and go during the week by myself. Be glad to have a partner for that. while we're talking have you done any good lately? last time I was out Friday before last I caught about 11 maybe only 7 keeper size and they all came between 5:30 and 8:30 in the morning.
  7. I fish Eufaula pretty regular along with the Chattahoochee river. Are you looking for help or just a fishing partner?
  8. Almost all fish will eat a cataba worm and there blood is a neon glowing color so I don't see why not
  9. In the Chattahoochee anything with red or orange is catching both spots and largemouth right now. Caught several last weekend with craws in there throat and they were a brown/orange/red color so that's probably why.
  10. I believe that and it just proves to me that the guy behind the bait is what catches the fish since my opinion is almost the opposite when it comes to jigs. There are no magic lures or presentations that catch all bass. The guy in the boat might tho
  11. A jig was the first purchase I made as a kid to cabelas out the magazine. Maybe 10 yrs old and never caught a fish. Once I got bit on bass fishing I got some more and I read about them and fish many times without any fish. Then one day someone told me that some bites feel as you move the rod like a leaf stuck on the hook. I caught a bass not long after that and for the next few weeks set the hook into dozens of stumps and dozens of bass before I could tell the difference. It is now the bait I throw 95% of the time. I'm willing to bet your getting bites without even knowing it.
  12. Its hard when you try to force fish. Fishing is suppose to be a relaxing hobby, if its not then its not fun hobby. If I was fishing strictly from the bank I wouldn't only be targeting bass. Don't forget the reason your there. Relax and catch some fish. Throw out a catfish line and bass fish while waiting for a bite. Have fun and just learn as you go.
  13. That's sounds right to me. That's crazy that all would sell.
  14. Dang Johnny Morris is one rich SOB. He is the Walmart of bass fishing now. I just heard the other day that he owns almost all the major bass boat brands now as well. Ranger, champion and skeeter.
  15. Yes those three along with a bladed jig and swim jig
  16. Pick 3 baits that cover the 3 different depth levels. Top, middle, bottom. You should be confident in all three of these baits. Switch between them for different locations and only change if after awhile of no hits. I might start with color first and then the lure. Point is pick 3 baits you have confidence in that match the local forage and fish till you find them. Adjust when you need to for the different conditions.
  17. Always a possibility with a frog. Bend the hooks out slightly. Don't set the hook till you feel them load up the rod
  18. Go to the fishing tackle forum and read the stickied post about jigs. I think there's about 30 pages and it has tons if good info on jig fishing
  19. Always use a trailer on a jig. Match the trailer to whatever your trying to imitate. Do bass feed on crayfish in your area? If so use a craw trailer to match the color. Jigs can Also be used to imitate bluegill, shad or any other baitfish you have. I would say that I catch more fish on a jig than any other bait. Its also the bait I'm throwing 90% of the time tho no matter what time of year it is.
  20. Always hard to tell in pictures but I would say 5 or 6 as well.
  21. Maybe you didn't use the best hardware but what you described is the "Santee rig" and its a great catfish setup. I remember as a kid fishing with a cousins older friend. I asked for a lure and I guess he didn't want to give up anything good so he dug out an old cheap swimbait with a single treble and handed it to me. I tied it up and started fishing, after a while of him not catching anything I hooked into a 13 pound mudfish. Not what we were fishing for but probably the biggest fish in that pond and I'll never forget the look on his face lol. And at about 9 years old I was pretty happy with it.
  22. never thought of this but seems like you could make something pretty easy with a starter solenoid or some refer to it as a starter relay. Just put it inline on the hot wire between both batteries and run an igniter wire with a switch in the dash.
  23. Y'all got it all wrong. Its always better to ask forgiveness than permission.
  24. While I don't deny any trailer hook might increase hookups. I can't believe that bass are any less accurate in there feeding just because its dark.
