Hit a log/ new boat issue
Mercury mariner 150hp stainless prop. Will get numbers off of it tonight. I dont have any issurs with holeshot or speed just mid throttle cruising. I think the smart tabs are awesome but I'm scared to break them. I'm pretty rough on a boat.

Hit a log/ new boat issue
I think some of the problem is with the prop. I don't know for sure but I think its a high pitch since the boat seems to want to run fast or nothing. Problem could be solved with a 17 or 19p prop I'm not sure though. Care to explain about those tabs Catt? I know what they are but that's as far as my knowledge goes.

Hit a log/ new boat issue
Can only answer a few of these. Not same boat that I had collision with. Just bought this boat Saturday. No Jack plate, stainless prop with no pitch number. Has a few numbers on it but nothing that I can tell show pitch. Top speed was 62mph loaded with all the sellers junk. Around 5800 to 6000 rpm. This is the first and only run at WOT thus far. Cavitations plate is level with bottom of boat

Hit a log/ new boat issue
Just wanna share a short experience first in hopes to help others. Me and the wife went out 2 weeks ago in the evening to the river. It was daylight but overcast and while running about 40mph I hit a floating log that I couldn't see until it was to late. I was actually even standing up. Thank God we weren't hurt and the boat didn't sink but neither of us were wearing a life vest. Never thought it would happen to me but I'm hear to tell you it can. I will now always wear a vest while running. Now to my question. Just got a new bass boat. (97 Procraft 18.5ft). While trying to cruise at half to 3/4 throttle it seems I have to have the trim set just perfectly to either stay on plane or not porpoise up and down. I realize this is something I could get used too but wondering if there's anything I can do to help it. Never had an issue before but this is my first true bass boat. Do the wings you can add to the cavitation plate help this problem? My other boats all had them. Is it a weight distribution problem maybe? Thanks for any help

Boat shoes
Been asking my wife for a pair of Simms water tennis shoes that I saw in cabelas awhile back. Can't remember the exact name but they don't require socks and all water runs out and they don't hold water. Still waiting for em though

BASS FISHING LAKE EUFAULA, AL
Well I haven't been out in a few weeks maybe Steve could give you a better update but I'll tell you what I hear. Fishing is slow and your best bet is finding a school on the ledges or working the thick vegetation. I don't know the clarity but water temps in the mid 90's. Nights are better than days. Tight lines.

My dad's looking to buy a boat, any input on this one?
I assume your being sarcastic but if not it's a figure of speech meaning in this case well taken care of or clean.

Look like a jam up boat to me. I always tell people to test drive boats since they perform different on water then on the hose. On a side note and this is probably a stupid question but what does he mean carpet in the bunks. What is the bunk? Compartments?

Yea I won't lose any sleep over it. Let me ask you this are the evinrude V engines basically the same as the Johnson's? This might be to vague a question I just saw another stratos for sale with a 150 evinrude and I don't know anymore about it but I can tell its V shaped block.

I believe you and appreciate the help. On a side note, how do you like your javelin? How does it handle in rough water?

Considering buying a 1990 GT 200 Johnson V6
Yea I understand nothings cheap on an outboard. I just meant maybe a loose cinnection or bad plug giving weak or no spark. Along with the rebuild he claims stator, powerpack and coils are new as well but said he couldn't find paperwork for them. I was surprised that when looking it seems to just have one large powerpack feeding all coils. I imagine that things pretty high.

Plugs should tell the story wouldn't you say? If compression and spark is good on all cylinders what else could cause it? Don't want to buy a project. Are yall certain prop pitch has nothing to do with it?

That's kinda what I thought but he had paperwork of a rebuild just last year so that's why I questioned if maybe the 26p prop might of been bringing it down. Never ran anything over 19p. I will do a compression and spark test. Those 2 test should show anything that would cause it right?

Looking at a used javelin/stratos with above mentioned engine and just curious if anyone has any opinions on them. Never had anything like it. Owner claims it was rebuilt and bored .10 over with new everything. Seems to run good but had a little trouble starting on river. Had to choke a few times even after warm but once it started it idled fine. Pushed the boat pretty good around 47mph but I noticed at WOT rpm were only 4300. Idk if there is a problem or if its just over propped(26p prop). I haven't done a compression check yet. What numbers should I see? Any other comments please share. Thanks

Lakemaster info needed
I can only help with part of your question. First of all Lakemaster is awesome. IDK if you can get just TB but I know its covered in the either southeast or central states card(have to check). as far as features, I and many other on here can teach you about all there is to know. the Nav part is pretty easy to figure out. I also want to mention that I believe KVD gave a lot of credit to the Lakemaster chip for his win at the bend not long ago.

Slither rig
So I saw this thing in a BPS magazine awhile back and they advertised it as a punch rig and only offered 3/4 and 1oz. Then last night I was watching the classic on lake texoma and some guys are using it for flipping like a jig. Of course I see the similarities but wondered if there were any advantages to this? The one thing I thought would be bass hitting the rig instead of the lure when there not together. Anybody use this rig?

Distinguishing between rocky bottom and bites?
@A-Jay Ok guys I read this the other day and it stuck in my mind. Can one of you explain that last paragragh. I can't seem to figure out. I normally do the opposite, keep rod tip up and bring it down as I near the end of cast. What am I missing? Thanks
