  1. I use 30lb braid for jigs now. I use to use big game but I can feel so much more with braid. I can also pull most limbs up to the boat if I get hung really good
  2. I always been very serious about my skirted jigs but recently tried a shakyhead craw in its place and had a better catch rate. The other plus is as most know with jigs its always possible for a bass to throw a jig or not get the best hookset but not as often with the shaky head. Anyway what's your favorite plastic craw that isn't just a trailer? I was using a brush hog and did well. Saw Z-manns punch craw and thought it looked good, the elaztech is also plus. Anyone used it?
  3. I agree since I didn't ask anything specific at all
  4. Just yesterday I was coming in from the river and saw a father and son already loading up. As the dad was going to get the trick I asked the son how they did. He told me it was tough and they only caught a few. As I went to get my truck I asked his dad the same question and his answer was "we smoked em". So you never can trust people even with a simple question like that.
  5. Was out fishing my local lake the other day and it was slow. Ended up going into a few different small coves, some that I've never fished before and found one that was LOADED with bass. Anywhere from fry size to about 10 inches. I don't think I've ever seen so many in one area. There were also some panfish and minnows but I'm just curious why they were all together like this. Did the cove just provide all they need at the moment? Or is this possibly a spawning spot? How long will bass hang around where they were spawned? I went ahead and tied on a crappie crank and caught a few just to get them used to me catching them later on haha. Anyone else seen this?
  6. Pop r for me too but in black silver
  7. I know many here fish reservoirs and Im curious about dam generation times and how it affects how you fish. Do you keep track of the schedules and if so how does it change the way you fish during that time? How might it affect the fish? I always check when I fish the river below the dam but when I'm on the lake I've never gave it much thought since it isn't as noticeable.
  8. Only have problems with the thicker plastic baits. For those I also like offset hooks. But for most worms I have no issues with ewg.
  9. Agreed right now in south Alabama its all about threadfin shad. Still havent gotten on a great pattern right now maybe due to storm or long high pressure system but from what I've seen and the few I've caught. There all coughing up shad.
  10. A lot of cranks lately are advertising a "hunting" action and I believe it to be mostly marketing. Balsa wood cranks are the only baits I've had hunt as they say. As for the wild thang. It is as blue basser described. A hard big wobble bait with a huge lip square in shape. The digger is designed to dive quickly. I can't describe it much better that blue already has
  11. Was the same way here in Alabama. Caught 2 and neither were legal.
  12. Idk for certain. I think a hole in the lip would be better than gills tho
  13. I sometimes put them on slider heads and just slow reel or make small twitches. Works well around grass
  14. If you don't want to cause damage use the grippers
  15. Lot of good ones mentioned. I'll add the swim senko and kvd swimming shiner
  16. friend should of took the beetle spin, he might of out fished you. that thing catches everything
  17. I have nothing to add to this topic except that I want a pet bass!
  18. pretty disappointed. I wanted to see a pic of the 3lb crappie!
  19. I can't help myself and always go to them. Traps and flutter spoons work best. If you can see bass actively feeding why wouldn't you go? I always want to find the bass that are feeding vs the ones that aren't.
  20. Nothing wrong with those trailer setups. I also use grubs and flukes and another plastic called a subwoofer( can't remember brand)
  21. Me and the wife play gin, in the army we would play spades every night for weeks. Need 4 people for that. And coming up as a kid my favorite game was BS.
  22. I feel ya. Bought a house 2 years ago and copper plumbing was corroded and developed a leak under the slab. I had to re-plumb whole house. I'm 25 and had no experience but did it all myself. The new pipe called PEX is amazing stuff!
  23. Then I would definatley get a 30-30. I don't know where your located but a new marlin 30-30 in Alabama goes for about $330. Fun to shoot and is an excellent deer rifle. I will never sell mine.
  24. This would of been my exact advice if you had asked for other suggestions
  25. I'm with ya man, I've yet to try it and people are asking about a dedicated rod just for it lol.
