  1. My favorite way to catch them.
  2. The fuego is on sale at American legacy for $78 (retails $130).

I use fluoro on my weightless plastics.
  4. Do you use o-rings or just put the hook in the bait? When I use o-rings I'd have some issues because the hook is in line with the bait instead of perpendicular.
  5. Wow, what a monster. Living in PA, it's so sad for me to realize that I will probably never get to catch a fish like that. Road trip!
  6. That pic makes that fish look 30lb lol.
  7. With spinning reels, which side do you put the handle? Buy the same side bait caster. I made the switch to casting reels several years ago and my first reel was a righty which felt very awkward so I sold it and went lefties and never looked back. It's more efficient for me to cast and engage the gears without switching hands. I work jerks baits and top waters much better with my right hand. I was already used to cranking with my left so it was a no-brainer for me.
  8. There's a ton of options. I'd say a 6'6"-7' medium/fast rod. Take a look at Fenwick elite tech, hmg, tatula or falcon bucoo. Can't lose on any of these imo.
  9. Courtesy, respect and common sense go a long way.
  10. Learn to tie the alberto or uni to uni. Take some time to practice because they are pretty simple and well worth the effort. Winding the swivel into guide will damage it eventually.
  11. I use 2 different combos for wacky rigs and one has 10lb fluoro and the other is braid with fluoro leader.

It's fatter and heavier than a hula grub. When you rig it skirt up it falls body down and when you pop it you get nice action from the skirt. They cast like a bullet. It's my second favorite soft plastic behind a senko. I love gycb.
  13. Sorry to hear that. Thieves are just dirt bags. Did they steal anything else? You could get a critical I or curado I if you are a fan of Shimano. They both are a considerable upgrade over the Casitas.
  14. I'm right handed and I use lefty reels exclusively. I don't understand switching hands and I have more control of the rod with my right hand.
  15. I prefer to be alone in my yak. I do like being in the back of my buddy's boat, but I don't seem to do as well.
  16. I feel confident with my nrx893 and metanium xg.
  17. In April with a chatter bait, 7.5
  18. Is it a general purpose rod and what's your budget?
  19. Keep wd40 away from reels. I use Bocas lightning oil and cals drag grease. Oil for bearings and grease for gears. I don't grease my drag because I want to be able to lock it down. If you don't want to get into all this maybe try just cleaning your drag stack. You can use some soap and warm water then dry it and reassemble. It might do the trick.
  20. I was really nervous about doing my own cleaning and luring at first, but I learned how. Just keep track of the parts and lay them down in the order they come off. If you really don't feel up to it then send it dvt. I'll bet he'll make it better than new.
  21. From all accounts the Falcon bucoo lizard dragger is an amazing rod and in your price range.

This is how I rig mine.
  23. A double Palomar works with smiller diameter braid for me.
  24. I do it all the time on my shimanos.
