Nice! What are you making the lips out of? Have you ever thought of possibly making the lips out of epoxy? I am not sure how you could make a mold but I think itd be real nice if you could. Just a thought.... Matt

Its called a parasite clip, there is actually a topic in this section on it recently ;D. You can make them out of paperclips if you want to give em a shot, atleast thats what I'm trying. :-[

First trip- success!! (pb)
nice fish..What kind of boat is that? Why don't you mount your trolling motor in the front? It seemed to work better for us.

Started workin on our jonboat!
Hey man, I fished the spoils today with my brother and dad outta our boat! We didn't get anything but weren't there very long. We fished blue plains (if you've heard of it) and I caught 1 about 1.5 pounds. My brother missed one, and I had a few more bites throughout the night. TON of shad at blue plains, my dad said that they are always there jumping.

Started workin on our jonboat!
Hey LBH, thanks alot man! We have been so happy with this boat so far, it hasn't given us any trouble. She cleaned up nice, no leaks which was very surprising, and the motor which wasn't run for 4 years runs perfect.

Started workin on our jonboat!
I understand where your coming from about the rough water, but we will mostly be fishing with this boat out of the occoquan reservoir where it doesn't get to to rough. I really do like the boat though, thats neat you had one like ours. Did you atleast put wood on the bottom so it was flat? It's pretty hard fishing anywhere but the back (or standing on the seats) with the V bottom, it throws me off balance. How did you rig yours up?

Started workin on our jonboat!
Thanks for the responses! It's a blast workin on it with our Dad. That is the main reason that I really wanted to get an older used boat, cheaper, and we get to work on it with ol dad. RockvilleMDangler, we haven't fished the potomac in our boat much at all, just around the free launch near the airport in DC. We were mainly out there testing the boat, motor, and if we could deck the thing! We found that the boat is extremely stable, and can withstand some pretty heavy waves and wind. We have come up with some pretty neat ideas for the back, it is kind of hard to explain but I will try. We want the deck to come out past the back seat about 1 foot, so obviously we would need some support. My Dad came up with the idea that we could have a foldaway chair so when we want to drive, we fold up the supports and its a bench like seat that folds up, and when we want to fish, fold it back down and the support will be there. Thought that it was an awesome idea. We are going to get workin on the decks soon, this weekend we are headed down to lake gaston, and we will be taking the boat along with us. Its a little difficult fishing out of a V bottom boat without decks but I guess we'll have to deal with it. All ideas are appreciated! Matt Strykul

Started workin on our jonboat!
So here she finally is. We haven't done any work with the deck yet, just did a template of what it will look like so we won't mess up cuttin the wood. Cleaned her up real nice. No pics with the motor on her though, sorry. Ran her today at the potomac and had a blast, the 9.9 hp really pushed this boat FAST. I was surprised how it handled, it was really rough out there and it performed amazing. We bought it for $350, trailer motor and boat. Came with toho rig livewell as well. BEFORE Cleanin Mock-decking Finished for day

It came friday afternoon. didnt think itd make it, and i felt ripped off with the 2 day shipping, but it did come intime.

So I made a mistake...
I ordered a Mudhole Eglass special blank about a month ago thinkin it would work with a saint criox handle kit and boy was I wrong. This will be my 2nd rod build that isn't from a whole kit so yeah, I messed up. I figured that it will cost more to send it back and plus it was only 20 bucks. It is a 7 foot heavy fiberglass rod with mod fast action and I was wondering what you guys think I can do with this rod IF I can do anything at all. I was planning on making it a crankbait rod but I'm not sure anymore. If you have any ideas, could you help me with guide size, reel seat, and handle ideas? This rod is a monster, but I don't want it to go to waste. What do you all think?? Thanks for your time Matt Strykul

I hate being 15
I feel so lucky to have such a "go get em" type of Dad. My brother and I wanted to fish our 1st tourney up here in Va and our boat was down in NC and he went down at got it for us all by himself. He is not old, 45 since january and loves doing things for us. He doesn't spoil us persay, but loves being part of our team. He fishes with us all the time and loves helpin us as much as possible. I don't think I've gotten in a fight with him since I was probably 6 years old and over something stupid! Hes the greatest. Dont hate being 15, I just turned 16 3 months ago, it just gets better. Just be happy for what you've got going for you. If your in highschool, the years start flying! I was just a freshmen last year and now I'm almost a JR. Its crazy man.

New (used) boat!
We got a sweet 14' semi V starcraft with trailer and 9.9 4 stroke yamaha motor for $350 this past weekend! I am so excited to get some work done on it. It doesn't leak, but does need a paint job. We are going to put some casting decks on it as well. I saw a post a while ago and wheasle showed his 14' V named the chickmate, hopefully we can get it to look as good as that. Also, the price was a steal. It was an older man who had been through alot of surgerys or something and just wanted to get rid of it because he couldn't use it anymore. the 9.9 will be perfect for the lakes my brother and I fish, and especially for the occoquan reservoir Can't wait to fish outta it, pics will come as soon as we pick the boat up, and a before and after of course. Pre Tournament Jitters
This is a good reason why I'm so glad I am a competitive rollerblader. I've skated in competitions since I was like 8, so now I'm used to the feeling. I have yet to do my first bass tourney, but will this sunday. I'm not going to fish to win, just have a good time and relax (but of course I would love to get in the top 15) ;D

Lake Gaston and the Snow
Well comin from a week of spring break, I saw it all. When the cold front came through, the temp dropped 10 degree from what I had seen around creek pockets, which I found some all the way up to 72. Average was about 68 in peahill creek, not sure anywhere other than there.

Bass Tracker Pro Team 170 storage space
Cool, thanks alot. This one does have an upgraded outboard, trolling motors and fish finder. 1K is a great price, you cant pass up one like that.

Lake Gaston and the Snow
Sam, I was out there as well in the snow! I talked to some other boaters in the tourney, they were throwin lizards and we were in peahill creek. What you had was more than likely a striper, we caught 32 this past weekend on EVERYTHING. They were everywhere, had one about 9 pounds too on jerkbait. congrats to your partner and your 7th place, good job man!
