  1. This one is going to be off the wall....But make friends with these guys. Tell them that it's illegal to fish there without you and if they do it they'll get in trouble. But on the other end, you have to invite them back to fish with you, unless it's the kind of pond that if you have permssion from a resident you can fish. Then just tell them that it's okay as long as they don't bring anyone else. It's always fun fishing with new people and learning new things. I'm sure they're good people that just love fishing. Just cause they're trespassing to fish doesn't mean they're bad.
  2. I would never have something against somone mounting a fish, but personally I just would not do it. I MIGHT get a replica, but to me a picture is all I need and of course the memory.
  3. AMEN!!!!! 8-) I agree normally ..... However, Game 1, with the Backstreet Boys ... that was a disgrace. They tried to put their own spin on it and even changed the wording around a bit. That's a big no no in my book. Just sing the thing like it was intended. It's already PERFECT. No need to put your own spin on it. Taylor Swift nailed it though last night!!!!!! I'm sure that's how some people look at Jimi Hedrix's spin on the star spangled banner......But I think it's pretty cool. Changing the words around is a little different though... :-X
  4. You're too kind Burley and I can't tell you how great this is.
  5. What's the price??? It's 12 am 10/24/08!!! I'm a bit anxious and putting off my current even project. Can you tell?
  6. Do you feel this really really helps you get more strikes?? I was actually thinking of buying several jigs just alike but making some of them long stranded skirts and some short. In other words, more than one of the same kind but all different from each other in the way they are modified. And do you use trailers (jig and pig)?? I don't know for a fact if it helps get more strikes, but I know it gives me confidence and it gives the jig a different look. Yes, I always use a trailer. I generally throw a GYCB flappin hawg 2 on my jigs, but sometimes I'll go with a reaction innovation sweet beaver. I'm going to start trying real pork this winter though. Another tip, before you trim the weedguard, flex it out by pushing it up and down 10-20 times. It really loosens them up. Matt Strykul
  7. I trim the weedguard to the hook point and trim the skirt up. I like to stagger the skirt and make some REALLY short strands, some medium strands and the rest to the bend of the hook. I do this so when it hits the bottom it flares up nice and the bass just can't resist it.
  8. I've got the 6'9 mh and the 7' XH. Both are spectacular rods, and they're my new favorite line of rods. Can't wait to try a spinning rod out.
  9. #1 You're gonna get backlashes no matter what! Don't let them get you down. Even the pro's backlash once in a while. The daiwa megaforce is a good reel. My brother has had it since last christmas and it's still working well! I've throwin it around at the lake and I thought it was pretty nice as well. Funny thing is I learned to throw a baitcaster because my Brother got a rod and reel combo that was a b/c I wasn't letting him get better than me!!!!He got it cause he wanted to look like my uncle Jack. That was when I was 12 ;D
  10. It's a great read. Fun and interesting.

  12. That's too cool, nice catch. I'd love to get into swimbaitin ;D
  13. I have experienced the blade breaking off from the head but other than that nothing with the hooks besides how DULL they are :
  14. Four to Five hundred. Just a rough guess
  15. Sweet fish Allyn. Cant wait til you nail a monster on that swimbait.
  16. I do think a thirty should be fine. Just watch out if you have it on the highest setting, it'll seriously push you around! ;DWe have a 42 lb thrust and we can't even keep it on 5. It will throw you off the boat.
  17. Awesome catch, sweet story too. You think you would've caught that fish if you hadn't gotten a backlash/helped your wife?
  18. The chump outfished me today gettin lucky on his new found "clear water" rig. : But they do work.
  19. Thanks for clarifying. I don't want to waste money on line that's gonna have the worst memory on the market. I'll just stick with trilene 100%
  20. Just fished a tournament there Sunday. Winning weights were 12, 10.5, 9.5, 9 and then we had 6 1/2 lbs. We didn't get a limit, but we did alright. Fish were in the grass, in mainlake pockets. Caught them on jigs, and trigs. No topwater action for us, but we stayed downlake. The water is Crystal clear, and I really think it's affecting the fishing. Alot of guys were catching them on weightless flukes overtop of the grass. Wish I tried that technique. Dropshots were doing good on Saturday, the bite wasn't there Sunday though. Good luck!
  21. I never broke my line dropshotting, but I broke it with 17 pound test throwin jigs. I am using 8lb Berkley trilene 100%. I might go down to 6 lb though for dropshotting. Tin, do you like the sunline? How does it compare to 100%? I saw a review of it on Tackle tour a while ago and wanted to try it. It's on sale at Tackle warehouse too..... ;)or atleast was last week.
  22. I just started drop shottin about a month ago, and it's really growing on me. I've caught some great fish on this rig, and I'm so glad I've finally taken the time to learn it. My first question is about this really weird bite I was getting yesterday while fishing it. It was almost like the fish would only grab half of the bait and just chew it! I tried changin color, but then they just wouldn't hit it at all. I tried waiting and letting them "hook themselves" but still nothing. My second question is for those who use fluoro like myself. Even though you're throwing fluoro do you still tie a palomar knot? I've been mixing it between that and a sandiego jam. I have only had the worst luck fishing a palmoar with fluorocarbon. I mean one time I tied a perfect knot, pitched my jig up into a tree and set the hook only for the line to break at the knot : Pigsticker was there to witness all the fish I missed because of the broken knot. Anyway, if you don't tie a palomar, what do you tie? Thanks Matt Strykul
