Warmer water made for some good fishing in VA.
Hey, that is an awesome day to say the least! I definetly have to say it's the warmer water that makes them fight better. I'm down at lake Gaston now and have been for the week, and any fish we caught fought so well. Today I hooked into a 5+lber pretty close to the boat on a rock pile and she jumped 3 times!!! I was by myself on the boat and couldn't get the net unstuck from under the boat so I tried to flip her in which resulted in the jig popping out her balancing on the side of the boat and then flopping back into the water > She then sat there long enough for me to jump in mike iacnonelli style to relip her but couldnt get a good enough grasp. I got wet and almost lost my sunglasses and hat but whatever. Adreneline I guess :

What Ever Happened to "Be on the Lake at Sun Up?"
Everyone I know thinks I'm crazy. Tournament days I get up at 3:45am and leave at 4:00. I love it though, and I'm not even tired at the time. If I had to get up that early for school it would be a different story

Just found out...
Yeah! I really think I'm about over it. I just got in again from wakeboarding, not tired, not hurting, nothing. It scares me a little to think that back when I had it I could have ruptured my spleen. Oh well, I'm wakeboarding and just doin my thing this week. Go big or go home ;D (Fishing too) We've been fishing up at 5:00 am every morning, and that hasn't even made me tired. I have to be over this.

Just found out...
Thanks anglernfuego. I actually feel fine right now. I'm not even a bit tired. I wakeboarded a little bit yesterday and just took it easy. Now that I think about it, I was feeling really tired, and sick like 3 weeks ago. I mean REALLY tired, like I almost had my brother drive home from a pond because I thought I was gonna fall asleep ;D It was everyday too, I would just have no energy to do anything and I would have body aches and and I would just wanna sleep. Could I have had it 3 weeks ago and now I'm at the end of it?? :-?

Just found out...
I really hope I don't lose any weight. My step dad said he lost 40 lbs when he had it (also senior year). I have no weight to be lost . I guess I'll start resting up, maybe with all the sleep I'll be getting I'll grow a little bit ;D

Why am I an A-Hole?
HAHHAHAHA that gave me a good laugh. That was a good joke, but did you ever get the lizard or is it still in your room?? I'd sleep with one eye open if I were you.

Just found out...
Hahahaha nah, not yet she's not. All she has said is "If I get mono I'm gonna @#&$*%@ kill you!" I really think she's gonna get it though :-[ Oh well. You guys that had it, did it ever get worse? After you were sick for the week or however long it was did you progressively get tired? I really only have a little bit of fatigue and supposedly it should be extreme. Anybody?

Just found out...
I must not have gotten it kissing because my girlfriend doesn't have it....yet... Funny thing, all you guys had it Senior year, I'm going to be a senior this year ;D. I'm at the lake now, definetly not gonna wakeboard. I'm not too tired, everyone said how tired you get, but honestly I feel fine. I feel like I don't have mono but they did a blood test and everything last night.
-
Just found out...
I have mono. Yes, the kissing disease> Not only did I have mono, but I had a double infection, strep throat too. Thank god it's gone. Has anyone had mono before? I know I can't do any physical activities for a month which is really inconvenient because I'm in the car now for a week long trip to Gaston to wakeboard and fish. Now I'll just be fishing all week which is good enough for me. Anyways, I know there is no cure, but what were peoples symptoms? Did you have any other side effects or anything? Thanks Matt Strykul

DANG IT!!!!!!!!!!
Hey bud, I have a Giron too. I love the little thing. It's real fun to fish and you have to understand, if you're fishing it there is always the chance of losing it. Sounds like when I lost my first lucky craft. Honestly I was crushed! You should start fishing them on heavier line (I fish mine on 20lb mono). If you're really buying three, get them from ***, they have free shipping over $50 I BELIEVE. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

High Rock Lake?
Pigsticker, I just got back from highrock lake and you're right!!! I was catching 6-8 lbers on the flappin hawg 2's on a 2/0 hook on deep docks. When can we get together and fish????? If it's anything like Gaston, docks will always hold fish. Points and steep bluffs as well. Goodluck

No problem. It's deep between there, but you're actually gonna be fishing a part of the dam. They cut it down before they flooded the res. Last year when the water was down real low one of the guys told me if it got any lower you would'nt be able to get by because you would hit the part of the dam or something like that.
-
Fountainhead Last Weekend
Ryan's dam is the one to the right, it's the large cement object that has signs on it that says caution submerged structure. It's about a 5-6 minute ride. I've never caught anything off the dam itself but if you put your back to the dam and cast out toward the other shoreline you will get bit.
-
Fountainhead Last Weekend
Yeah, it's really BIG but I'll tell you this...You can sit at Ryan's dam all day and catch fish. I don't like sitting there during tournaments, but truthfully if you want to just go have fun and fish deep and catch em, that's the place to go.

Who's the man in NOVA
Yeah Rob, you definetly do know your stuff and I thank you for the info you share. WHEN ARE WE GOIN FISHIN?
-
Fountainhead Last Weekend
We are mainly hitting points and just staying REALLY far off of them. The res is deep (if you haven't noticed) and it's not hard to be in 40 feet of water REAL quick. We would just fish the points with the C-rigs and find the ones that had good cover on them, and then just beat em up. We know what points have brushpiles, rocks, ect.... Jcrazy, We actually only have a hummingbird max 90. It costed 80 dollars on sale, my brother got it for his bday 2 summers ago. I just bought my first "higher level" depth finder a few weeks ago. It is an eagle Fishmark 320. I'm putting it to the test tomorrow out on the Res. We haven't been fishing there in over a month. ~Matt

Fountainhead Last Weekend
aww come on, now your confusing me ;D j/k HAHHAA I knew you would get me on that!!!! I almost hit the edit button and wrote why, but I just decided against it. Remember about a month ago how we had all that rain? Well it made the Occoquan Res. rise about 7 feet. By the day of the tourney, the water was up a good 3 feet, and I felt because of this the fish would be shallow, and up in tight cover. Sure enough, they were. That's my explaination to the "real shallow" ;D Sorry for the confusion
-
Fountainhead Last Weekend
The fish in my avatar were all caught downlake in real shallow water about a month ago. We were pitchin jigs into tight cover and got em.

Fountainhead Last Weekend
No problem guys. I learned the same way as you guys, other people told me. They said fish deep or you won't have a chance. Started fishing a little deeper and did a little better. Then one of our friends was fishing with us in his boat and we were followin him and he was showing us a few spots and we were all c-rigging and we were just tearrrrrring them up. One day that week we probably had a 21+ lb bag fishing between 25-40 feet of water. I've never caught so many 4-5lbers. ;D
