  1. Spot removers have my vote, they're the best.
  2. Socc, you should have come up and said hey. I'll see you at the next one hopefully. Did you go up or down? I know the guys that went down did well. The rez also has some GIANT flatheads. The record for VA is out of there. Sorry you didn't do to well, but neither did we and a whole bunch of others did poorly as well.
  3. By the way does ANYONE know where to find a topographical map of this place?!?! It's nearly impossible. GMCO made one but discontinued it.
  4. What a day it was....Pouring rain/lightning/DINKFEST. We caught 12 fish but only 1 was a keeper...and by keeper I mean BARELY pushing 14''. His tail was right on the line and that was after playing with the fishes tail for a while to get it just right. We went upriver where I was finding much better fish the last few times I was there but it just died. We caught most of our fish on one 75 yard stretch ;D. What a day, it was fun though and if I could redo it, I would have gone downlake. Socc, did you fish the tournament today???
  5. Thats too funny ;D ;D ;D Anyway, I'll run those scans....Next time I get the ad, I'll film it and post up a video to show you guys how annoying it is!
  6. I know that they are what keep the site going, but I'm just wondering if there is any way to turn off the sound without turning off my speakers with some of these advertisements. The pacman sounding one has to be the WORST. Anyone else have this problem? Thank you Matt Strykul ps sorry if there is a post about this already.
  7. Why don't you all fish the superline hooks by Gamakatsu????? Aren't they welded shut as well? Theyare meant for braid and what not....
  8. Haha, alot of guys that fish in the tournaments that I do have like 25 hp on a 9.9 restricted lake. They re decal, or just soup up their 9.9s. Older motors can be converted from 9.9 to 18 hp (it might be 15hp..._) Just by fiddling with the carberator It's funny to see two big boys in a boat beat me and my brother (200 lbs TOGETHER) with a "9.9 hp" ;D
  9. I go to Gaston all the time, we have a place in Peahill creek. Where did you guys launch out of? Americamps? Where did you fish all day? Matt
  10. Well I did launch at fountainhead, but I went down, but did go up at aroudn 2 oclock. It was a bad move, and should have stayed down. The last tournament was won upriver though, 21lbs. Caught "fishing the mudline"
  11. Hey guys, fished the rez yesterday with my girlfriend, it was a decent day. Rained on and off, and rained hard for a while. I caught 10, and my girlfriend caught one which was awesome cause it was her first fishing trip ;D. Most were small, but did manage a nice one on a Evolution jig tight to a tree in about 8 feet of water. It was about 3 lbs. This fish was so fat, check it out...
  12. Just lookin out
  13. I really like the colors! Looks great. Can't wait to see the finished product.
  14. The first one is just plain sexy. They all look great though!
  15. Everything fivebasslimit just said.... The other thing about Gaston is, you can get up in a creek (peahill, lizard) and not leave there ALL WEEK if you didn't want to. There are tons of good fish at Gaston. Good luck 8-)
  16. Hate to sound like a jerk, but you can just use dam, because that's what it is...a dam. About burke lake though, there are some HUGE bass there. I talked to a guy last year aroudn this time, and he showed me like 8-10 pictures of some bass 6-9 lbs.
  17. Hey that was my goal last year, it's a GREAT feeling. Congrats!! You only have more to come now 8-)
  18. Not gonna lie, you are probably never going to want to put the jig down...atleast that's my problem ;D
  19. Hey big boy I got my spinnerbaits today, theyre nice. I just restrung all my rods and what not too. I might be pre fishing tomorrow, I don't think Priscilla is gonna be to happy ;D
  20. Hey everyone, my brother and I have our first tournament this Sunday on the occoquan reservoir. It's a 10 hp and under reservoir in Northern Va. Anyways, the day we are fishing is supposed to be a nasty cold front, and rainy in the morning. I think I'm gonna be throwing a jig a good part of the time on deep points, but I need your guys help with any tips or advice on what to do! Anything will help, thanks. Matt Strykul
  21. P line CCXtra strong monofilament is my personal favorite.
  22. Woooo this is really late, but I feel like posting it up anyways...2 weekends ago at Gaston we did fairly well. Water was in the high 40's, and we saw 50. Caught 6 fish, all on jigs. Biggest was 5.2 lbs. Brother caught 4 and I caught 2. My 2 were 5.2 and around 3.5 lbs, and his were a little smaller. We pulled up to our 1st spot, and 3rd or 4th cast my brother had one on, and I netted it. Next cast, he catches another same size. I netted it again, and threw out right behind him and caught the 5 lber. This is where I caught the 3.5 lber the next day as well. It's a nice roadbed right out in front of a dock, really neat spot. Seemed perfect for the pre spawn fish. The water was unusually low, and I thought they would be letting water in from Kerr but they didn't the whole time we were there. I'm sure the water is back up though... Here are the pictures, can't wait to get down there for spring break.
  23. Nice lookin fish there.
