  1. Did he at least give back your arrow? Is shed hunting considered catch and release? ??
  2. What he's saying is he wouldn't use a fluke at all. In murky water, you want something that is more easily spotted by the fish. A finesse lure in dirty water is like a blind guy trying to find butterflies. He'd have an easier time finding a rattlesnake by sound and you'd be better off throwing something that makes a bit of a racket and is more flashy.
  3. I had a Caddyshack gif I was going to post...but this is a family friendly forum after all....?
  4. I had a guy walk up to me after I caught a decent 3 lber or so bank fishing out of a reservoir in IL. He seemed unhappy and told me I should have kept that fish since you don't see them very often around there and I said that's because people don't release them...he was even less happy after that statement.
  5. LOL. Now we know you're just BFSing us! ?
  6. I'm surprised (and a bit miffed) that the BPS or Cabelas in NW Indiana aren't going to have them but Illinois will...?
  7. Shush now! ?? Between Wisconsin and Minnesota I think I pay enough. Remember...it's non-resident, so just think of the amount of time we spend on the water vs. a resident. I get up to MN maybe 3 times a year if I'm lucky for about 3 days of fishing each. BTW, on topic, I plan on hitting some hidden gem retention ponds in IL this weekend. I know one of them has a couple of 6 lbers in it. A lot of the ponds took a big hit about 5 years ago with the harsh winters. One pond in a sub-division my friend lives in had giants! He pulled a 7.5 lber out of it one day. That winter though...100% kill. Could have been avoided too, but they failed to maintain the aerator and all was lost. It had some of the biggest bluegills I have ever seen in it too. You could barely fit them in your hand. What a shame! ?
  8. PAD172HA or PAD174HLMA If you are using 3/4 oz sinker you also need to take into consideration the extra weight from the lure, hook, swivel and bead on a carolina rig. Getting into that 1 oz range the other's in that list aren't going to cut it (if you want some wiggle room - I find you really want that wiggle room and not have a rod you are pushing the limits on all the time).
  9. St. Croix on March 20th 2021
  10. I used to cast with right hand and then switch to holding the rod with my left hand on bait casters with right hand retrieve. I injured my left shoulder years back (rotator cuff) but wanted to keep fishing so I picked up a couple of left hand retrieve bait casters so all I had to do was turn that little handle with my left hand. I've since switched to all left hand retrieve even though the shoulder has been back in shape for years because even though it felt odd at first, after just a couple of hours of using them that way, it made total sense and ended up feeling way more natural. I want my right hand to hold the rod as it is my dominant hand. If you throw a ball with your right hand, sign your checks with your right hand...you should be holding your rod with the right hand.
  11. I have that rod. It's what I take to creek that feeds into the Kankakee river in IL. The smallies make a run up the creek when the temps go up and I use it for walking a Heddon Spit'n Image or I'll tie on a jerk bait. It'll work just fine for what you intend to use it for.
  12. You cannot go wrong with Daiwa. I have a Regal LT and the Fuego LT and they are true work horses for $100 or less range. Had an older Revros that took on many fish and I ended up giving it to my son who still uses it and it's as smooth as the day I got it. My friend was die hard Abu guy...I bought him an Exceler LT for his bday and he loved it so much he went out and bought two Fuego LTs.
  13. That Bass X is a decent stick as well. I also have a 7'1" MH F Bass X. It's a bit heavier than the mojo and the action out of the SCII isn't quite what you get from the SCIII on the mojo, but again, still a decent stick for the $. I'm currently looking to sell the Bass X as I have too many rods in this category and it doesn't get used any more.
  14. This is what I use for spinnerbaits. It's really a great rod at that price point. I have it paired with a Zillion SV TW so a reel in that 7 oz weight class would balance well.
  15. And this is why I scoured and found a Cronos for the Alphas SV TW I just bought. Just too much silver and I wasn't sure of the Rebellion line as there is little feedback on it. Though it seems to me the Rebellion is like a reboot of the Cronos, which means it should be an amazing rod.
  16. This all depends on how hungry I get. Nothing tastier than some power bait after a long day of fishing! ?
  17. I couldn't bare to watch him throw around a $700 reel.
  18. Question is what do you plan to use it for? I have two of the Tatula spinning rods but not those particular sizes...but again, the real question is what application do you plan for the rod?
  19. That's one to munch!
  20. Was he fishing on a one way dead end street? ?
  21. I'll have to pay Greg a visit soon. He's good people and takes care of his customers. I've been to Angler's Outlook as well but tend to give Greg most of my business when I can.
  22. I also get those exact license online without issues. I live in Indiana but work in Tinley Park. Last year I was in the work from home and then another facility for the pandemic scenario. Do you ever go to Fishing Connection on 159th? I didn't visit the shop last year.
  23. I use Berkley X9 crystal 15lb with about a 12 ft 8-10 lb fluoro leader. Works fantastic. Sight is not so much as issue for me...the sensitivity of braid lets me know what's going on. I've caught tons of fish with this set up.
  24. That could be it...or I could be thinking of something totally different. LOL. I texted my friend who still lives in MN and I go up there several times a year. He didn't know what I was talking about! Haha. The first place I hit in MN when I got my new boat in 2000 was Minnetonka. I've hit a lot of water up there. Must of my trips the last few years have been to the Mississippi river.
