  1. Well, Deadliest Catch is the only show right now that I make a point to tune in to regularly (although you can really see it anytime you want). I was watching 24 until this season got boring. I even heard that it might not be back for another season (anyone heard any truth to this rumor). I guess anything on the History channel. I also have been watching more Food network shows lately. . . Iron Chef sticks out as one I watch more often. I'd love to have a favorite bass fishing show, but it looks like ESPN 2 has done a real good job of killing that (unless you want to get up at 4:00 in the morning to watch it). Hey, if I'm up at 4:00 in the morning, I'm GOING fishin, not watching it!
  2. "Shepherd of the Hills" play is a must-see. I've seen it twice in my lifetime and enjoyed it both times. My wife and I were in Branson on our honeymoon about 16 years ago (and yes, we DID see some sites OUTSIDE the hotel room) . We've been back some since, but haven't been back to the play or Silver Dollar City. Shoji Tabuchi (sp?) is the name of the Japenese fiddle player. My in-laws have seen him and enjoyed it. Be sure and check with the hotels because many of them offer good package deals for two or three attractions (SDC, the play, and a show) and your stay included at a special rate. One show that I remember going to on our honeymoon (at age 21; on a budget) was "Waltzing Waters". I think it only cost around 4 bucks a piece, but it was pretty good. If it's still there and cheap, it's a good place to go (but go to the bathroom BEFORE the show starts (if you know what I mean). AND, if you have time, BPS headquarters is only about an hour away and worth visiting. It will make your regional store look like a bait shack. Hope this helps. BTW, my family is pondering a trip there either later this summer or next, so report back to us on how it goes. -Fisher
  3. At least you didn't have to deliver it!!
  4. Riskkid, Good to hear you had a great time with the new boat. I can assure you that there are worse "spectators" than that at other lakes. It sounds that having the friend there on such a busy weekend was a wise choice. I have had lots of misfortune at the boat ramp and can definitely sympathize with you. -Fisher
  5. How about a "VETERAN's VENT" section where those 2+ year guys can fume about the newbies? :
  6. 100 days 3 hours 06 minutes 41 sec until opening kickoff! You bet man!! I sure hope we are stronger this year. If not for some VERY (bonehead) conservative play calling by Fran, last year could have been WAY different. . . at least we may not have had to face a Cal team that had our number. AND: A matchup with the 'Hogs. . . well, I don't think the Ags have played them since the SWC days, have we? That would be great considering my in-laws have lived in AK for the past 15 years. Gig'em Ags!!
  7. Sounds like you need to move a few blocks south!!
  8. Hookem'. Sorry to spread any mis-information. Hey, I'm a little biased (look at my hoody). I guess I get caught up in some of the aggie hype a little too much. Then again, you guys think aggies all "herd" goats for a living. ;D No harm was intended! I hear you about the tollways. (although a toll-less loop would be better) That's all they're talking about around DFW too. They probably purposely put off highway develop to make us want to pay for improvements. -Fisher
  9. "Great big globs of greasy, grimey, gopher guts. . ." Carl the Caddy ;D Try this: Take a stick of Wrigley's juicy fruit gum and leave in the surface holes. For some reason they can't digest it. We had one in the back corner of our yard a couple of years ago and this got rid of it. Thanks, Fisher
  10. Well, my wife tells me that she got up to around 87 yesterday. She went back last night and the website took the quiz off. Can anyone confirm this? My firewall here at school blocks it.
  11. Oh, yes. . . I'm sure my biggest have ALWAYS come when I was alone. . . and, darn, that camera just happened to be left at home. . . uh,huh!! ;D JK I'm like you Ceph. I like to go by myself so I can really focus and learn, but I do enjoy the company and fellowship that come with fishing with a partner. But, as far as being bummed about it or being bored? If you feel that way about it, maybe you need to fish somewhere else.
  12. Oh, as long as your not illegaly parked, it's OK. I'm seeing the same attitude that I see with many of my junior high students. . . "It's only wrong if you get caught!". Yes, I snuck into quite a few places when I was a kid. Yes, it was somewhat of a rush. . .as a kid. Now I've GROWN UP and realize that we ALL need to be respectful to the rights of others. I'm glad that most of us here realize that this is wrong. To the original poster: You mention that some of these places are in industrial areas of town. Well, they are owned by someone, too, and I'd bet that they really don't give a care if you fish it. . . which should be encouragement to ask. The same goes for golf courses, YOU NEED TO ASK!! BTW- Wow, I haven't seen a topic this HOT since the religion threads were closed down. However, I'm enjoying the posts and most seem respectful.
  13. I haven't lived in either one, but have visited Austin numerous times. I haven't been to Nashville since I was a kid, so I'll offer some input on Austin. From what I hear, the cost of living is kind of high in Austin, and from experience traffic is pretty bad there (although I hear they may build a loop soon to alleviate some of that). Others are right about Austin's music. It is diverse and was where SRV cut his teeth. I've also heard that it IS becoming a liberal haven for those who practice an alternative lifestyle. Like Replica said, it might be a good place to live single, but maybe not for a family. There are some 'burbs there, Georgetown and Round Rock (within a half hour). The temps there are quite hot and from my experience in Texas, the farther south you go, the more humid it is. My advice would be to visit both and PRAY. I'm sure God will lead you to the right place. Just my .02, Fisher
  14. DUDE, Surely you're kidding. Pick-up lines are so fake and so far from being yourself, honest, and upfront. Tipp, don't use pickup lines. They make good shirts, bumper stickers, and jokes, but I'm sure most women wouldn't appreciate them. Also, Tipp, I saw where you said you wanted a women to "get out of the house." If you are looking for a women to "take you away from that", you are looking for the wrong reasons. You should be seeking a woman for companionship, not for a way out. There is nothing wrong with living with family. More and more young people live with them (at least through college, and college takes longer than 4 years these days). Everyone has offered good advice (except for the pick-up lines, IMO). Take it and go after a girl. You can never catch a fish unless your line is in the water! -Fisher
  15. Make that #78. Someone (other than myself) has waaaaay too much time on their hands to make this up. I wonder how many questions there are?
  16. My wife and I spent many attempts to make it to #71. That's definitely a challenge.
  17. Ed, that speaks volumes. Besides the video part, I have to agree with the other three. God bless, Fisher
  18. Danny, join the club!! Yes, I would have to admit that there's no other place on the 'net that can match the comradery and rapport of BR's members. Credit has to go Glenn and the mod's for helping keep it that way. Furthermore, most everyone are just GREAT people here. (or at least they put up a good front. . . I don't know about that Muddy Man. He's kind of squirrelly. ;D) Russ, I'm there with you, bud!! Tokin' up the BassResource.com fumes with the rest of you!
  19. Well you're quite welcome Tipp! Even though I haven't been on for a week or two, I've offered you some advice several times in the past. Being a teacher, I am in a position to counsel and offer advice to many students and former students alike. Your comment is encouraging to me. It also affirms what a great bunch of guys (and gals) or on this board. God bless, Fisher
  20. Well, Cigarlover Glad to hear everything's OK. . . for now. Thanks for the tips on CS from you and replica. I only had to talk to them when they shipped the wrong stuff when we first order the new PC. I DID get a set of surround sound speakers out of the deal though. I guess that might be worth four hours on the phone with CS. :-/
  21. Yeah Cravin, I'm waitin' for it. I wish it didn't start so darn late. I've got to be up early in the morning. I think tonight will be the hardest game to win. If we can even it up tonight, I think we can take another one at home. I hope Dirk decides to play like the MVP tonight, and not the assist leader.
  22. I've had a "17 flat panel for about 3 years now and no problems. Good luck with customer service. "Tank yoo fa cawing Dehhl custama suvis!!" ;D IF your lucky, you might speak to someone in Round Rock, Texas. Believe it or not, it happened to me once. . . once.
  23. CCR (That's Creedence Clearwater Revival to you young guys) I mention that to my Jr. High students and they say, "Oh, Cross Canadian Ragweed, yeah, their OK." I like alternative Christian rock too. Bands like: Kutless Third Day Seventh Day Slumber Skillet
  24. I don't think you have to worry about that. Regardless of your faith or beliefs, you have to admit that there's something "magical" about connecting with nature at sunrise or sundown. If there's ever a place to pray/meditate/gather your thoughts/whatever you want to call it, the fishin' hole is definitely a great place to do it.
