  1. Thanks Kent. We're happy to leave it at that.
  2. I'll be the first to ask it. Why? :-? He seemed like a nice fellow. Was he banned? If you're not allowed to tell us, we'll understand.
  3. When do the two meet up? That will be a great game to watch.
  4. Thanks guys! I'm considering just driving it down, or waiting until I see him at Thanksgiving or Christmas at my Grandmother's house. I might end up spending more than the things worth. It is a 70's model 870 Wingmaster pump 20 ga. The stock has been broken and re-glued and the thing has rust pits here and there. It was the first gun that he hunted with and he wants to give it to his son. I offered to give it to him, but he insisted on paying for it. I told him 50 bucks. I can't check into the website here at school (firewall- "gun" in URL address), but I'll look into it at home. Thanks again for the advice!! -Fisher
  5. Hey guys, I have a question. I live near DFW and I'm needing to ship a pump shotgun to my brother who lives near Houston, Texas. I've never shipped a gun before. Can anyone offer some advice? Do I ship it through the post office? UPS? etc? Are there any special forms to fill out? Any advice would be appreciated.
  6. Thanks guys. I've been itching to make the 1001st so I can be a "Posting a long timer", but I've been busy since yesterday afternoon. I had a discipline problem with a student yesterday and had a dreadful meeting with the kid's mom this afternoon. I needed a pick-me-up. I'm looking forward to 10,000 more posts here. I really enjoy everyone here!!! Keep me in your prayers! God bless, Fisher Let's see if this changes it.
  7. Hey Matt- I can't watch the video because I'm at work (blocked), but we have a little 6 year old girl who comes to church every Wednesday night who lost her (then) 23 year old dad on a crotch rocket about a year ago. The police said he was going 120 mph and accelerating as he ran into a lady who pulled out in front of them (she couldn't see them [yes, he and another were racing] coming over the hill at such a high rate of speed). Now his little girl has to grow up without a daddy. Was it worth it? You can still see the sadness in this little girl's eyes.
  8. NB and Matt, In regards to the Rangers, it IS a mystery. Even back in the George W. ownership days, the Rangers would find a way to fall short. It's always seemed that the Yankees and the Angels have had their number. When Tom Hicks bought the team, he thought that spending 240 million dollars (more than the whole club was worth at the time) for A-rod would fix these problems. He should have thrown that 240 million into four or five good pitchers. Since getting burned on A-rod, he just doesn't seem to want to let go of much money anymore. Throughout his ownership, we've never had any pitching, but tons of offensive talent (still do). I'm not crazy about his new "kid" GM either. One other problem I've always had with this club is that it doesn't seem that the DFW area wants a good baseball team. Everytime I've ever been to a game, the crowd (for the most part) is lame. No one gets excited and stands behind their team like the Boston or Yankee fans. Heck, unless prompted, there's no noise in our stadium. People kind of look at you funny if you yell out. I'll still put my money on the Red Sox to take it all this year.
  9. "Hey Vern. . . let me have some of your shake. . ." Do any of you Texas/Oklahoma guys remember his Braum's commercials? He'd be on a ladder at a window ledge reaching for Vern's shake as Vern would close the window on his hands. Ernest would fall backwards screaming his lungs off. Funny stuff!!! Maybe Russ IS Ernest? Maybe Jim Varney didn't die after all. :-?
  10. Very funny!! ;D I'll have to share that one with others. Thanks!!
  11. Olebiker, These opponents will be challenges for UK, but I think they have a real chance of pulling some more upsets this season. Florida revealed that they're not as good as last year, but LSU, I'm still not sure about. It seemed that Tulane could play with them for awhile the other day. That's what I like about college FB; you just never know! As for Kentucky, I've been impressed by what I've seen. Hey, they're in the SEC. What have my aggies got to worry about. I'll stay on their wagon all the way. Go UK!!
  12. Yes, indeed. Great stuff! Especially the "Gone Fishin'" movie poster. ;D
  13. KU, Are you guys really for real this year? I haven't seen ya'll play yet. I do know you have played some teams really close the last couple of years. -Fisher P.S. Hookem down, there's no smack. That's odd. I think both fanbases are so down, they don't feel like it.
  14. Two weeks ago I would have taken OU by 30 or 40, but after last week I think it will be alot closer. One thing I do know is with this game, you can throw out any rankings and past performances for this game. Both teams will bring it this Saturday. OU-35 Texas-31 I just hope my Aggies can outright gain first place in the Big 12 with a win against OSU. Then we STILL have a long row to hoe with Tech, OU, Mizzou, Nebraska, and Texas (not necessarily in that order). Anyone want to make a bet that the winner of the South will have two conference losses? Gig'em Ags!!
  15. I agree with slomoe. When I wear my aggie jersey out here in Texas, I catch it from UT fans everywhere. I guess the fact that my jersey makes them that upset is funny enough. I want to tell them to "get a life". You did the right thing. I've always thought it takes a bigger man to walk away from a fight and take control of his anger than a man who is quick to fight.
  16. For the most part, I like them, but the Eagle's yellow uni's looked pathetic. I agree, it's all about marketing. For some reason though, I don't think they'll be marketing many of those Eagle's throw-backs.
  17. File mob, Open mouth, insert foot. ;D
  18. I haven't thrown a jitterbug in years. Maybe it's time to try again. Yet another great fish, Russ!!
  19. Very healthy bass. I've only experienced those kinds of catch rates a few times in my life. They make great memories.
  20. . . . watch them dang skeeter's gettin' kilt in the bug zapper. Then I'll call it a night. Maybe tomorrow I'll be able to. . .
  21. Great to hear! Hope the overtime doesn't cut into the fishing time! I once had a job that paid plenty well, but after 70-80 hours a week, I never had time (nor felt like) to do anything.
  22. Yes, he revolutionized the guitar and rock and roll. His influence is still felt in music today. It is sad how his life ended. It should have set an example for so many others with celebrity status, but unfortunately it hasn't (i.e. Elvis, John Belushi, Kurt Cobain, etc.). Thanks for sharing that with us Muddy. I'm sure that was an awesome feeling to sit just feet away from the guitar-great himself.
  23. . . . herdin' my goats, but first I gotta. . .
  24. OK, I might not agree with the "under 21" concept. My wife was 20 and I was 21 when we were married and we've been happily married for 16 years now. However, the combination of these circumstances to marry before age 18 are usually NOT a good choice (although there are some exceptions). I'm sure there are many christian people who would not agree with me, but getting married is NOT always the best choice for a pregnancy situation. However, the dad in question SHOULD be financially responsible AND be a DAD to the kid. If the relationship continues for the couple, then marriage might be appropriate later on. I think too many couples immediately jump into marriage or (as you say, "shotgun" weddings force them to) that they later have differences that they may not have known about. This causes undue stress and emotional consequences for all parties, especially the children, as they get divorced. To all you young bucks here: First and foremost, be the MAN by making wise choices ahead of time. Do you want to be a dad at 16? 17? or 18? Are you ready for that responsibility? THINK before you :-* !!
  25. Salt works well (if you don't have any cuts). Even better than that is meat tenderizer. My college chemistry teacher taught me that. There are enzymes in it that kind of "eats away" at the very outermost layer of skin, taking the smell with it.
