That's not the word I would have used to describe him... I was thinking the same thing.
  2. Fishing's the ONLY thing I'm getting at 2:12 in the morning. This kind of reminds me of the commercial that was out a few years back (Citgo gas, I think). The scene shows the guy dragging out of bed at like 6:30 a.m. on Monday, then again (later) on Wednesday, and finally it shows 4:43 a.m. (before the alarm can go off) on Bass-day (Saturday) and he springs out of bed in his fishing gear. There was alot of truth to that commercial. I'm exactly that way when it comes to getting up to fish.
  3. Russ, I don't think I've ever thought of that. We don't get that many packages from them though. Most of the time, they've gone before we can get to the door. I guess if I was in some kind of business and saw them regularly, I might tip them (at least with some goodies or something around holidays). We have given some goodies to our mailman before and given cold Dr. Peppers to the garbage men on a hot day. I guess that counts for something. Thanks for bringing up the topic.
  4. X2 Hang in there. . . this, too shall pass. Prayers sent, Aaron!
  5. I never knew bowling could be so technical! Maybe that's why I've always stunk at it.
  6. Careful there. . . or you'll be sitting down somewhere else for quite awhile!! ;D PUSH!!!!!!
  7. Cheddar here, followed by any of the Mexican food cheeses. . . pepperjack, monterey jack, goat, etc. I still enjoy plain old American, too. Someone gave us some pepper jelly once. You could eat it on top of cream cheese and a club cracker. Mmmmmm good!!
  8. I didn't take it that way. I just think they were being really silly. Thanks for sharing it with us!
  9. Here in Texas, game laws apply to public or private property, because the wildlife belongs to the state of Texas. Regardless of Arkansas' laws, I'm in total agreement that he's too young to be shooting a firearm. My daughter's arm's were barely long enough to hold my .22 rifle at age 7. I'm sure if you look into it, the kid may have pulled the trigger while dad held the gun. I'm also not aware of an age restriction here, except that a child under the age of 12 cannot hunt unless closely (within normal voice distance) supervised by a liscensed adult hunter. Only after age 12 AND completion of a hunter ed. course can they hunt by themselves. Also, X3 on shooting bears. . . unless you are eating them, why?
  10. Jimmy remembers that he and Kramer had a pair of those shoes. ;D That one's a classic, especially when Kramer goes to the banquet for the MR people. Jimmy thinks Elaine is kind of cute! ;D
  11. Well, that being the case, he's going from the frying pan into the fire. The Hogs (not that I follow them) have not been that bad of a team under Houston Nutt. I think they went 8-4 this year and even upset LSU, but haven't brought home a (very tough to acheive) SEC title. They'll get tired of Petrino and give him his walking shoes soon, too. You can obviously tell that no one wanted to go there. They've only asked how many to take the job and been turned down? 3 or 4?
  12. Funny stuff. ;D Thanks for sharing.
  13. This is a very enjoyable thread; I'm getting to know you all a little better. Well, our holiday starts (will start this year on Friday night. We'll cook a small turkey, have supper, read the Christmas story from the Bible, and open gifts here at the house. My wife and I buy my daughter a few gifts from us and let her open them a night or two before Christmas (she's not spoiled or anything) :. Sunday we'll attend church service and then travel to my grandmother's house. On Christmas Eve (Monday) we will have supper at her house and watch my daugher open some more presents from family (as if she doesn't already have enough). We'll then drive home (about two hours) and get her to bed around midnight. On Christmas morning around 6 or 7:00 a.m. we'll get up and see what Santa brought (for some reason I'm always very tired on Christmas morning) After she gets to play for awhile, we'll get around and drive up to my wife's grandmother and have dinner there. This will be her first year without her husband of 60 years. After visiting there for awhile, we'll drive back home. This is pretty much our routine every year.
  14. It's gonna be interesting, as Dallas showed some weakness today and the Pats over the last two weeks. The Packers looked better today, too, but then again at the hands of the Raiders. It is good to see them developing their running game. I can't wait for a re-match between both sets of teams in the play-offs: Dallas vs. Green Bay Indy vs. New England in the championship games (if someone doesn't knock them off earlier; football IS competitive).
  15. Definitely, Plan your hunt and hunt your plan. . . and plan for the worst!
  16. I remember getting the Evel Knievel stunt stadium for my 6th birthday. I already had the little crank start motorcycle from Christmas that year, but the stadium was cool. I think it had a ramp and some little barricade things to jump over. My brother had the Evel Knievel dragster. We used to race them against one another. I really looked up to him as a kid. Very sad to see him go.

Man, I really laughed out loud at that one. No way that's staged. I've lived in East Texas and there's plenty of people down there that would do that. . . or worse. ;D ;D ;D ;D Man that was funny!
  18. I'm just going to sharpen the hooks and tie one of these babies to my line: http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_83930?cm_mmc=froogle-_-700-11-1-_--1-_-38-249-543-01&hvarAID=froogle&mr:trackingCode=D53C2D4C-3EA0-DC11-BE2A-001422107090&mr:referralID=NA The bullfrog spook is 27". What do you think? :
  19. Wish I could "get it". Each and every year, I set out to master the jig. I'll fish it for a few hours early in the season with no success, and switch to something else (usually a spinner, crank, or worm). I start catching some fish (not extremely large, but fish none-the-less) and never go back. I'm sure if I would go back to the jig when the bass get more active, I'd gain some confidence. As far as Senkos are concerned, I've not ever completely converted to them anyway. For the past few years, my seasonal pattern goes from plastic worm to spinner bait to lizard back to plastic worm/senko as summer approaches followed by topwaters. The senkos are good as the fishing slows down going into summer. I'm pretty much in a rut, I'd say. One of you mentioned that the "stick bait craze" is passing. . . remember Slug-o's? Someone's always out to re-invent the wheel, until we realize, "Hey, this IS a wheel!!"
  20. I'll bet the boss smokes, too. :-?
  21. 4-7 Pitt didn't seem to have any problems. I know that Pat White was hurt, but I really think that the OU defense is quick enough to handle him.
  22. I beg to respectfully disagree with you Matt. I'll give you the Al Harris take-away, although I don't understand "forward progress" when TO was going forward. They only give you "forward progress" when the offensive player is being pushed backward. On the pass interference call at the end of the game, I don't think that the Green Bay corner "\grabbed the arm of Austin. He put his arm in front of him, but I don't think that it in any way impeded Austin's ability to run. I think the leg tangling was mutual and incidental. The ref. on the spot didn't throw the flag because he saw that there was no grab. Why does the other ref. who is some 20-30+ yards away come in and make the call after the plea by the Cowboy receiver? Besides those two calls, there were at least 2 or 3 facemask calls that were incidental, not deliberate. This contributes to at least 10-15 less yards for Dallas and maybe two less 1st downs. Yes, Dallas clearly outplayed Green Bay (especially the GB DB's), but I think the game might have been different had these calls been made correctly. Perhaps the two will meet again? Either way, it was an exciting game.
  23. I thought so, too. . . or at least it used to be. :'(
  24. I teach 7th and 8th grade students. I used to use corporal punsishment in the past (I used to be a vo-ag/shop teacher), but I no longer use it as an option, even though our school district still allows it (I don't feel that I need to). I do have to admit, some of our kids could have used a "bustin' in the britches" alot more often than they got (if at all). The important thing is to institute a discipline plan early on (toddler years) and be CONSISTENT. Each kid is different and all methods don't work on all children. YES, I spank my daughter, although not very often. We only use it as a LAST resort, when all other methods have failed. Russ is right. When I was little, I never believed that it "hurt them more than you", but now I know it absolutely breaks my heart to spank her. Robby, you make good points about being calm. I also might add that you need to explain to your child what they did and why it is wrong. Spanking- all for it. Abuse- no.
  25. I saw today on GMA where a Carolina/California (one of these two) shopping mall is prohibiting/discouraging their Santa from saying "Ho,ho, ho" because it might be offensive to women and/or frightening to children. The alternative was to say "Ha, ha, ha". Give me a break!!! > This originated from Sydney, Australia. See link: http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20071115/wl_asia_afp/lifestyleaustraliachristmasoffbeat
