Anna Nicole Smith - dead
Jon, I don't think anyone was trying to elevate her to a higher level. I have to agree with Tom and others that any death (especially at a young age) is tragic. Another thing to learn here is that no matter how good you think you've got it, no one is exempt from death. I agree that her life doesn't leave behind a very good legacy, but who are we to put her down for it. The most positive thing we can do is learn from it. What if she were your sister or daughter? Just another .02- Fisher

Crazy eye doctor!
My word, what a nut!! He needs ALOT of therapy. I bought a used TV (he promised a 90 day warranty) from a guy(TV repair shop) like that once. It broke and we went back to get it fixed. After taking it back about three times and asking for my money back, he threatened to "kick my ***" and followed my truck on foot threatening me and beating on my truck. Unfortunately the world's full of them.

TV show "24"'s creators and their politics
Thanks Dan. I've become a "24" watcher this season. I really like the show. I agree that there's alot of torture and violence (prime reason we don't let our 8 year old watch), but I don't see it as having an agenda. Even after reading the article, I just think the show creator has figured out what the audience wants to see. The American TV audience has enjoyed seeing "the enemy" suffer since the days of the old WWII movies. I don't think "24" is much different, just edgier. -Fisher <><

I hate Albuquerque and their stupid cameras
That's becoming the norm here in the DFW area. Speeding cams, red-light cams. . . all a source of easy revenue for the local govt's. A recent report in our local paper said one speeding camera in our county averaged 70 tickets a day. Even at $100 a pop, that adds up to over 2 million dollars for that small town annually. The mayor was quoted as saying this would help keep his city streets safe for his residents. :-? The major highway they set it up on runs around the "city" area. The least he could do was tell the truth.

Dallas Cowboy's new coach
One word: PUPPET Yes, I am surprised as well. I first thought Jerry would hire a young coach because that's the trendy thing to do. But after some thought, I realized that a younger coach might try to buck him. Toward the end, I thought he might hire a black man (again trendy). Now I realize he's hired someone who will do his will and earn 3 years of retirement money (just like Parcells). I see no improvement at hand until Jerry sells the team. 3 years from now they'll be looking again.

Anna Nicole Smith - dead
Muddy, you are a turkey!! Seriously, This just goes to prove that fame and fortune aren't all they're cracked up to be. I 'm glad God chose for me to be poor and fameless. Life's less complicated that way. Very sad.

BEYOND MY WILDEST DREAMS
Muddy, I sure wish I could come down for it. Our spring break is the week before (and I'll have to work). I'm about two and a half hours away from Fork. It sure sounds like you guys will have a great time. I'll be thinking about you. -Fisher

It's 68 in Decatur, Texas with no wind. Man I'd sure like to be fishing today. Go figure, we had 3 inches of snow on the ground on Friday. Cold front's supposed to be moving in later this evening. Did I mention I'd like to be fishing today! 8-) Darn this work!! >

Wal-Mart
My Wal-mart has about 6 feet of tackle and marine items on red-tag clearance. Of course it's a little game I play every year. They run through and mark everything down around 30-40% off, and I wait. They come back and take another 10% off. . . I wait. I will wait them out unless there's something I really want. Right now, I'm holding out for a Minn-Kota air/water temp gauge for my jon boat. It normally sells for $19-- and they've got it marked for $11--. I've vowed to buy it if it goes below $10. As far as worms, hooks, etc., I usually end up buying some things only because they are cheap and never fish them. I've been told that they will soon get tired of it being on their shelves and mark everything down to 80-90% off (alot of items for under 50 cents), although I always miss that day. As far as downsizing, I guess ours has a bit, but there's still a half an aisle of marine stuff, an aisle of tackle and an aisle of rods and reels. The glass reel counter is about 3 foot in length and probably contains around 20 or so models. I'm sure it all comes down to the bottom $$$. I think that's all that matters to Wally world now days. I'm sad to say that the customer is way down on their list as well. -God bless, Fisher <><

Beat Charlie Moore-We tried
I do have to admit that I'm shocked that they actually gave you a reply. That's way more than I expected. Like you said, Russ, there's no need to bash anyone for it. I think many of us are displacing our negative feelings toward the network (because of the downward demise of "Bass Saturday") toward this "Beat Charlie Moore" challenge. At least the "Charlie Moore" people were up front and honest with you and didn't leave you hanging with some automated "Thank you for your e-mail, we'll consider you" response. Russ, I give you props for trying and being persistent. God bless, Fisher <><

I can't agree more, KU!! We had some icey weather here a couple of weeks ago which left us homebound for a few days. My school district was even closed for a couple. My wife and I went to Blockbuster (we're in the on-line club, so the trade-ins are free) and got the first episode (Season 1) DVD. At the end of those four straight episodes my wife immediately sent me back to the store to get the other one. I was abruptly told that that one was defective and they didn't have that DVD. Man, we were left hanging!! Well, this was Wednesday, and by Friday my wife talked me into buying the Season 1 box set. I'm ashamed to admit this, but we watched the rest of Season one between Friday night and Sunday night (more icey weather). Again, we are not the kind to get hooked on a show, but this one has done it. The only problem is keeping the storyline straight from (just starting) Season 2 to the current season. Burley, I guess I'll be more shocked with the "Mr. Bluetooth" development after we get caught up.

Remarkable Obituary
I can't agree more. I, too, got twice the punishment at home when I did wrong at school (thus, not doing wrong at school very much). I teach middle school kids, and the lack of parental discipline is quite obvious. As far as my own daughter, we spank her (only as a last resort). On ABC TV I laugh to see the "Supernanny" train parents to use "time-out" and see them put the kid in time out repetitively for 20 or more times. That only shows the child that "time-out" is a game. There has to be a bottom line (an ultimatum). And to echo other's sentiments, GREAT post G-man!!

Let's go for a ride!
Heck, I drive that way every day to work. I make 11 miles in 3 minutes flat!! NOT! ;D Thanks, Fisher

The Tuna has had enough!
The only way this team will ever be successful again is if Jerry sells them (or finally agrees to butt out of the coach's business. . . I don't see that happening).
-
The Tuna has had enough!
That's the thing with the Cows (as Randy Galloway calls them). Their only success came at the hands of Jimmy Johnson until Jerry started to meddle in his business. That's why Jimmy quit. Barry Switzer only rode Jimmy's coat-tail. Everyone else (except for Parcell's) has been a puppet. I'm sure at the onset of hiring Parcells, Jerry vowed to keep out, but couldn't keep his end of the bargain. I never could believe that Parcells would come here in the first place (other than to cash in on some quick retirement $$$). I guess I'm surprised to see him stay this long. Yes, Cabela10, very funny!! ;D

The Tuna has had enough!
Bill Parcells is stepping down as Cowboys coach. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2738949 Thanks Jerry. (not that I'm a big fan of the Jones' era Cowboys anyway) I wonder who the next puppet will be?

Pics from your youth?
Matt, That's a great idea! That pic sure takes me back, only it was my grandmother who took me to catch bluegills. My dad took me fishing, too, but my time with Grandmama was special. I know I have one of me when I was 8 somewhere around here. The problem is my dad and grandparents have all my childhood pics. I guess I should get some copies made sometime. <>< Fisher

any runners here?
Rockinfish, I must side with the haters. I would just love to be the kind of person who could go out and make tracks for about 6 miles a day, but I'm not. Come to think of it, I really don't think I've ever liked to run (just for the sake of running). I've always liked to play football, tennis, and softball, but not sports that have you running constantly (i.e. basketball. . . even though I like to shoot around). Since my back has been hurt, I really don't do any of those as much (and my waist-line shows it). I tell my students that, "If you see me running, you better get out a gun and shoot whoever or whatever is chasing me; or if you see me walking, you better stop and pick me up 'cause my truck's broke down." I completely respect you guys who do for your self-discipline. I have self-discipline in other areas, just not running. God bless, Fisher <><

Most Members ever online
Somebody already tried that once. It kind of fell apart. I think the time was around 3:00 when most of us were at work. Truth is, I don't think we'll need to plan it. As popular as we're getting, the numbers will increase themselves, just because everyone wants to be on this GREAT site!! (Thanks again, Glenn!)

You know, Burley, it's funny you brought that up. My wife and I have never watched the show until Sunday night. After four hours of it, we're hooked. That's all we've talked about since then. You can spend 8 bucks at the movies and not see that much action! I was very impressed. We've even started to rent the old seasons to watch from the beginning. If this show is this good each week, our Monday nights are going to be booked solid! <><

plastic frog hooks?
Thanks for the input guys!! All are good ideas. I can't wait to try them out when the frogs get active. Amazingly, I've been hearing some over the last few nights here in North Texas. I bet they'll crawl back into their holes this weekend though; the cold front just blew in here a while ago. I was so counting on an early spawn, too.
