  1. "You're crazy, there's no fish in here big enough to eat that" I think I'd get kicked out if I quoted her tonight. She stood behind and to the right of me, well she wasn't happy when I hooked her jeans with my chatterbait...
  2. Up at 5am on my birthday a mile and a half hike totally worth it, even if they are dinks I'd guess him about a pound and a half, maybe closer to two. The picture doesn't do him justice. I hooked into a bigger one that threw my swimbait at the weedline
  3. That must be why I couldn't see your pictures in your boat thread.
  4. So the beyond in Bed, Bath, and Beyond is fishing tackle? Awesome!
  5. It depends, if the conversation starts with "there any catfish in here" I usually just keep my mouth shut, I had a couple young men start the conversation by calling me sir and acting respectful... I was more open with details about where to go with them.
  6. Congrats! I think we are fishing the same creek, just different areas. I noticed last night they were in the faster current in the deep areas, it's down so much the deep holes aren't very deep anymore!
  7. Got to meet @IndianaFinesse tonight, bought some mushroom head jigs off him, he threw in a shakey head, quality stuff, you guys should definitely look into it. Caught one small smallmouth on his shakey head. Unfortunately tonight was a bit of a bummer, I got informed I wasn't allowed to fish in the quarry I've been fishing all summer. It's unfortunately owned by the university here in town and they don't want anybody fishing in the quarry. I can still fish the creek, it's unfortunately not been very productive this year.
  8. That's a fat smallie! I guess I'm going to have to head to the creek tomorrow! I think I've only caught 4 or 5 smallmouth this year, it's been a real bummer!
  9. I guess I won't complain about 7%! Good grief!
  10. I've got to figure out where you guys are finding these pits that you can actually fish without fear of prosecution
  11. I generally just slow roll it fast enough to feel the thump, but you can vary the speed depending on their mood. You can rip it through grass, I was doing that yesterday and got a couple bites, but I wasn't doing it intentionally
  12. Got out for a couple hours after work this afternoon. Caught 10, all in the 1 1/2-2 pound range. They were loving the chatterbait until about 3, then that bite pretty well shut down, but they would go after it if I dropped it to the bottom and stroked it. Had a nice conversation with a couple university boys, most of the kids that go here are more your class millennium generation, but these two were looking for places to fish and hunt.
  13. Thanks guys. I don't know why I didn't think of that? He did put up a pretty good fight, I wouldn't have been mad if I caught a bunch more... of course he was the only one in the creek it seems!
  14. Ok guys, what is it? Looks vaguely like a green sunfish from my google search, or kinda like a warmouth, but doesn't really look either one.
  15. Most medium rods are 1/4-5/8, that can vary a little, so will go up to 3/4, some as low as 1/8 on spinning rods. I'd say if you don't go over 3/4 of an ounce you'll likely be okay.
  16. Follow the weight recommendations on the rod and you'll be fine.
  17. It probably never held a title. You will have to apply for a missing title. I'm not sure but I think you can make your own hull ID. I think you can have something engraved, but I'd definitely ask the bmv first.
  18. Impossible to tell without seeing pictures of its condition.
  19. The pad crashers hold up really good, I've ventured into savage gear frogs, they seem to be on par with PC, maybe not quite as soft but still a good one.
  20. Got out for a few hours today. This is the biggest of the day, got her on a jig. Caught a few more before they stopped hitting the jig, got a couple on my bluegill swimbait, then caught 4-5 more on a chatterbait, all were in the 1 1/2-2 pound range.
  21. I deliver dumpsters for people and a lot of them want us to call to find out where to put it, but probably 3/4 of the people we call won't answer, then won't call back. These are scheduled a few days in advance so it's not like it's a surprise. They usually call later wanting us to drive back and put the dumpster where they wanted it but wouldn't answer the phone to tell us
  22. Never read the book, saw the movie once around the same age. Never, never again! Holy crap I can't do clowns or spiders now! I don't think I slept for 2 weeks after that!
  23. I generally cast something small, Ned rig, weightless senko, upstream and let it drift down. The key is finding the seam between the current and slack water. That's where you'll find the fish.
  24. That was an interesting read, thank you.
  25. Interesting observations. I noticed a yellow tint to everything, like looking at an old photograph. The shadows were very sharp edged, like everything was under a spotlight. Of course we were in the 90%-95% range. I heard that birds would start to roost near the area of totality. I also heard my dog would stand up and talk... stupid dog never could do anything right!
