  1. Fish in the river are hitting jerkbaits fished slow. Allen
  2. I like the regular ones better as someone mentioned the panfish like to bite off the crazy legs. Allen
  3. I can post a pic of my boat cover with all the snow on it if you want. Allen
  4. The guy on the golf cart that uses his cane for the gas petal is the one that said something to me. It is nice to know you can fish there but below that dam is where you really want to fish. Allen
  5. STATIC GUIDE PLACEMENT By Tom Kirkman You need to read this article and you will be set. If you cannot find it I can email you a copy I have in word. Allen
  6. Do you know the mill owner? As you can see in this pic there are No Tresspassing signs on like every other tree in that area. I mention this because the last time i tried to fish there I was told it was private property and that I needed the owners permission hence the signs. The area use to be open but soo many people trashed it they shut it down to the public. Allen
  7. I looked them up since I have never heard of that one before. That looks like a proprietary spincast head that would be tough to duplicate. The closest thing Do-It has would be a Arky mold with a 60 degree straighteye hook. Allen
  8. Most of the bigger fish I catch are on a heavy jig but any lure can catch them. My best 5 fish limit were caught on a Zoom horny toad. Allen
  9. I think it was named after Beaver Lake Arkansas from what I have heard. My best guess as to what it looks like is a crayfish of some sort? Allen
  10. Green pumkin, solid black, watermelon candy are my top three but most colors work. Allen
  11. I will try to get my boat and gear ready this weekend and fish next. School and work has me soo far behind the power curve this year. Allen
  12. I start fishing local around this time each year with jigs and jerkbaits working the best. Now I do spend more time on the river in March because of the large SM that can be catch this time of the year. Of the 10 biggest SM I have caught in the past couple years 9 of them were caught in March. Allen

Original rattletraps, color didn't matter as much as weight. Those days they wanted 1/2oz or maybe 5/8oz but nothing lighter or heavier. Allen

How is the timing for this area, ice will be here in MI still so I can't wait. Jenga I have had several 50+ fish days in the spring using rattletraps in or around Mattawoman. Allen
  15. I have been told that a red rattletrap or crankbait is best to use pre-spawn but have never tried one. Since I have accumulated a bunch through trades or buying large lots I want to try them out. So when is the best time to use red? Allen
  16. If you move any batteries forward you will lose top speed as I did. I moved the TM batteries in my PT 175 into the compartment below the front petestal and went from 45 to 33mph. Electric only lakes it was nice and it jumped right on plane but I lost a lot of speed. Allen

Bring rattletraps and expect a lot of company. Allen
  18. I am not sure about some of those weights? Below are the weights of the 5 biggest LM I have caught and either I catch skinny fish or something is off? 24.5" I estimated about 8 even (left the scale in the truck) 23.5" 6-7 23" 6-3 22.5" 6-1 22" 5-9 Allen
  19. Do you have a boat? A lot of good places in the area. Allen
  20. http://www.columbiacoatings.com/store/c/72-Powders.aspx I quit paying those crazy Pro-Tec prices years ago, check out the link above they have 100's of colors. Allen
  21. Xpress X-18, it is a 18' aluminum boat with a 150hp Mercury outboard. You should see it a lot around Hagerstown as I try to fish as much as I can. Allen
  22. Water is too shallow for my boat. Allen
  23. Yes, they are nice to get to spots but they always need work. Since I have a prop and not a jet the only two places I can fish on the river are Four Locks and Big Slackwater. If you are fishing from shore I recommend fishing below the dams. Smithwick Rogues work really well below both dams and will catch walleye along with bass. The other bait to use is a white spinnerbait with a single silver willow as it will not roll as much as a double bladed bait. Allen
  24. My Yukon is in the shop, the only rods I own that have line on them are a frog rod and a flippin stick with 65lb braid so I really need to start getting my stuff ready. I plan on hitting Four Locks in about 2-3 weeks to see if I can catch some big SM. When does Black Hills open for the year? Allen
