  1. Hey BK. I must say I find your avatar very disturbing. I know selective harvest and all that, but do you have a reasonable explanation for killing all those bass? :'(
  2. I used to save up my yard mowing money and spend it there. I have been shopping with them for over 20 years and I, too have only recently noticed a dowturn in service. I hope they get their act together soon. Maybe they have gotten too big for their britches? Is Johnny Morris still running the show or has he sold out and/or turned it over to someone else?
  3. Raul, I don't remember ever disagreeing with you before, but there's a first time for everything. I contend that one does gain distance by reducing the number of centrifugul brakes. This obviously becomes more apparent as one decreases the amount of friction brake. I run my reels with the friction brake wide open and the difference in casting distance and effort between 0-2 and 2-4 centrifugal brakes is very noticeable. This seems very intuitive to me. On what are you basing your statement?
  4. A member of Keith Alan's legal team will be contacting you shortly. As we all know, Keith cannot complete a sentence without using this phrase and as such, he has trademarked the referenced words for his exclusive use. Please cease and desist immdediately or appropriate legal action will be forthcoming. Thank you. ;D
  5. That's ridiculous! I mean red rims? Really, that's too much
  6. Forum threads should be treated just like television channels. I know what I will see on Lifetime network will offend me, so I don't go there
  7. If you don't mind paying more, they are just YUM rejects. In other words, YUM mistakes (colors or moldings that don't meet spec) are packaged as Riverside and sold at a steep discount.
  8. You are so welcome. I was hoping you would take it in the spirit it was intended.
  9. Muddy, I applaud your courage. Thank you for standing up and expressing your opinion in the face of so much opposition. I think it's great that you admit you are unsure about the situation and you haven't fully formed your opinion. If you need absolutely any information (by that I mean gun nut propaganda ), I'll be happy to help.
  10. RW, you are absolutely correct. I only meant when confronted, don't nod your head yes and mumble something just to get out of the conversation. Also, if the lawmakers try to actually change something, then go into full attack mode. I don't mean now is the time to go on the offensive, of course not.
  11. Well, as I fully expected, the media is already pulling gun control advocates out of the woodwork who are more than happy to exploit the VA Tech tragedy for there own nefarious purposes. Watch the dog and pony show as it progresses in the aftermath of this situation. Let us all pray for the injured, the affected families and all those who were touched by this, but don't let them shame you into submission. Stand firm.
  12. ......said the guy with the Snoopy pole. Thank you. Thank you. I'll be here all week. Don't forget to tip your waitress. ;D
  13. OK. That's it! I give up. How in the heck did you decide to throw a watermelon shaky head in muddy water. That would be about the last thing I would ever try in that situation. If I did try a shaky head out of desperation, I certainly wouldn't have gone with watermelon. I would have tried junebug, black, purple or anything except watermelon. If you hadn't mentioned the success you had I would have thought you had lost your mind. I swear, the more I think I know about fishing, the more I'm surprised.
  14. What are these "backlashes" of which you speak? ;D
  15. I would like to give Dodgeguy credit for stopping the madness. After Avid and I responded less than favorably to his "stupid" post, he was quite diplomatic in his subsequent posts. It could have easily gotten ugly. Thanks, Dodgeguy.
  16. I have a BPS Extreme 7' 6" heavy flippin' rod and I am very pleased with it. That being said, I don't even use it enough to justify the purchase. I find myself pitching 99% of the time and for that I prefer a 7' 0" MHF.

For a setup, though, I would purchase the following: G. Loomis MBR844C IMX ($260) Shiman Citica D ($120) For $100 more you could go with the Loomis GLX in the same rod and you'd really be stylin'!
  18. In my opinion, the 5000s aren't as smooth, light or "sexy" as most of the new low profiles, but they are built like a tank and will last you forever.
  19. If there is a hole present where the hook was removed use that. Otherwise I place the scale carefully in the gill plate (only if you have the large, smooth, round hook, though).
  20. I'm just guessing here but maybe you could use something really bulky like a double tail Hula Grub threaded onto a 1/4 oz finesse jig with the flaired short skirt surrounding the head (like an Eakins). I believe the bulky Hula will both add enough weight to aid in the presentation as well as working in conjunction with the finesse style skirt to prevent the jig from digging in, both because it will slow the fall greatly and the large surface area/weight ratio will allow the bait to "float" on top of the muck.
  21. That would be awsome. If I could find a sub 6oz quality reel for $100, I would buy several. Hey Avid. Why don't you tell us how you really feel? Your post looks very similar to the one I first composed as a reply to Dodgeguy. I elected to erase my compostion and post the statement above with my tongue firmly in my cheek.
  22. I have noticed Basspro.com has been really slow for a while now and today many of the sale prices are screwy as well. Some of the sale prices are the same as the regular prices and some of the sale prices are higher than the regular price.
  23. Sweet! Do bass pros have groupies?
  24. I'd go with the Curado/Pro Qualifier for $270, or the Citica/Extreme XPS for $170. I have four of the latter and am very pleased.
  25. I just asked because it doesn't have a lip and from personal experience, it is much easier to place the lip slot correctly before you carve the shape. Just some advice for the future. It looks good by the way. Very shark - like
