  1. Is that a surface walker?
  2. If it's a magnesium toothpick with 10 ball bearings, I'm in.
  3. I prefer to keep my rod in the ready postion so dropping and reeling aren't necessary. If your rod is in the 9 to 10 o'clock position at all times, all you have to do is snap the rod up and the hook is set.
  4. I can't really use it, I just wanted to let you know that this is a heck of a nice gesture. Thanks.
  5. Forgot about the Presso, but still out of my budget. Thanks.
  6. Oh my! Hang on to your hat, buddy. You might get some slack since you're a new guy, but I can't guarantee it. Oh, and welcome to BassResource.com.
  7. That would be awsome. If I could find a sub 6oz quality reel for $100, I would buy several. I really want a reel like this, but I can't pull the trigger on a 50mg, Steez or Pixy. These are the only reels with this description of which I am aware. Any others?
  8. The correct answer is, "No Honey, it's not the dress."
  9. I suspect that the large bass are eating all the fry before they get established. Providing some forage for them is definitely the way to go. This will allow some of the small bass to grow up and will ensure continued good fishing for years to come.
  10. XPS Rattle Shad, XPS Professional cranks, Rick Clunn cranks, Stacey King jerkbaits, Stacey King jigs and most soft plastics. As for sizes and colors, you are going to get as many suggestions as people who reply. Personally, I use green pumpkin for clear to slightly stained water and junebug for stained/muddy in soft plastics. Jigs are blue/black in stained/muddy and green pumpkin or craw in clear. In hard baits, I use natural (i.e. shad, minnow, or craw in clear to slightly stained and something with chartreuse for everything else except red or dark seems to work well in muddy water. As for sizes, I subscribe to the big bait=big fish theory except for highly pressured situations or post frontal conditions or ultra clear water. As you can see, there is a reason some of us have more money wrapped up in tackle than in our cars (maybe our homes ). I always think I am keeping it simple until I actually have to spell it out. If I had to go ultra efficient, I would go with the green pumpkin, blue/black and shad, respectfully. These will work in most conditions to some degree. I am sure many will disagree with me. That is the beauty of this sport. There are no absolutes.
  11. It does increase the average temperature of the Earth, just not the temperature everywhere all the time. I, personally, realize that this is the case. It's just funny to juxtapose the panic many are expressing with the anomalous cold weather many of us are facing this spring. My personal opinion is that the Earth is certainly warming, but the anthropogenic cause of it is purely speculation. It could be cyclical, solar activity, or many other factors besides human influence. If we can make reasonable changes to reduce humanity's impact then I'm all for it. I just have a feeling that many environmentalists have an ulterior motive which is the reduction or elimination of capitalism via the decrease of economic output in the guise of green policies. Of course, I am not accusing you of this, I reserve this for those who are leading the charge.
  12. I remember when Limbaugh was on TV he had a camera crew go out and interview people on the street in a blizzard. They asked them about GW and the earnest responses were priceless.
  13. No way. I have to bargain my way out of business trips all the time because I can't bear to leave my wife and three kids. I'm sure that's not a good career move, but when we're all on our death bed, I bet none of us will say he wishes he had only worked more hours when he had a chance. Think about it.
  14. I have no experience, but the guys at Tackletour seem impressed. http://www.tackletour.com/reviewkistlermg.html
  15. I gave full price for mine and it is worth every penny. I only use it for mid to deep cranks, but that is personal preference. It is not as sensitive as 100% graphite of course, but the weight isn't bad at all. I don't notice any extra fatigue when using it. I think for $30 you'll not find a better rod for what you want.
  16. I was browsing the Lamiglas site yesterday and noticed that they make no distinction between spinning and casting blanks. Am I reading this wrong or do they have a different philosophy? http://www.lamiglas.com/blank_indiv.php?id=10
  17. Yesterday upper 50's and sunny. Today 40 and snow (I assume before we hit the high)..
  18. I did it, too and the difference is noticible. If I had read this anywhere else, I would have checked it out thoroughly before I did it. The credibility offered by BassResource.com, however, allowed me to do it without question. Thanks a lot!
  19. Love 'em. My favorite spinners.
  20. the_Conceited_ReDnEcK is correct. If you like to fish sot plastics or jigs, the higher dollar rods are well worth it. If you are throwing topwater, spinnerbaits, lipless crankbaits, etc. (i.e. reaction type baits) then then less so.
  21. Who uses Lamiglas and what do you think? I just received the XMG 50 Series 7'2", 1 piece, 1/4-1 lure wt., 12-20 line wt., fast action, drop shot casting rod. I was able to purchase it for half price so I took the plunge. I haven't been able to fish with it yet, but I am very impressed. I have BPS Extreme XPS and Loomis GLX as well as countless other lesser rods and I think this rod compares very favorably to the Loomis. It's extremely light and well balanced and seems ultra sensitive from what I can tell in the house. We'll see on the water. Opinions?
  22. You just reminded me that I have one of these somewhere. I used to catch some fishing shallow grass flats in clear water. I used it in situations where I thought a lipless crank might work but a more subtle presentation was in order (i.e. ultra clear water and/or high blue skies and no wind).
  23. Inexpensive shad imitators = Storm Kickin' Minnow or Panther Martin Vivif. Tackletour reviewed the Vivif. See below: http://www.tackletour.com/reviewpmvivif.html
  24. I hate to admit it, but I have a slight aversion to spiders (OK, I scream like a little girl if they get near me). I was on the water at sunrise one morning with my shades on my hat when I spotted one of those creatures from Hades crawling toward me. I instintively swatted it with my hat and the shades went flying ;D I don't keep shades on my hat anymore.
