Caught a bunch of small smallmouth - Problem with getting hooks out
I second changing the hook and crushing the barb down. Ewg, round bend or straight shank, either way... Crushing the barb down will eliminate this problem .

What to use for leader.
Depends on what you're using as a lure ? Seagaur red label can be purchased at Walmart and works great for a leader material. I use 8lb for weightless plastics. And have bent out a 3/0 EWG gamakatsu with it being used as a leader and have caught many fish with it so I know this product is more than good enough. Sunline sniper if you feel like being fancy.

Big fish in small pond??
Yes. Definitely. I fish several ponds and one that I frequent has a LM that is 24"...confirmed, and the pond isn't even 4 acres. And hasn't been stocked in over a decade. Genetics and proper (also abundant) forage are most key. Not an opinion . This is fact.

10% of anglers catch 90% of fish- still true?
I don't think that "thinking you're skilled" is a "problem" anyway lol.

Skirted Grubs and Techniques
I use the GY brand all the time. My top two producers are a bare jighead , and weightless on a 2/0 EWG hook.

Auto Log-Out?
That's alright. At least you can upload pics ! I don't even have the option to upload. I did have a cap where I could only upload 1MB. Now I don't even have an "upload files " button like I used to in the bottom left corner of this box. Now there is one in there right and it says insert other media and I can only upload "an existing attachment" or from a "URL" .. I don't understand why. I have more than enough space.

So .. How much weight do you need to get your target depth?
No offense but using 2 bullet weights is blasphemous. Don't do that. Ever. There is a bullet weight (that can be made of very many different materials such as lead, tungsten, brass, steel etc ) that will weigh whatever you need your weight to be. As mentioned this depends on the desired rate of fall. Do you have sonar or depth finder of some sort ? At least a contour map? Try some mid to deep diving cranks , or lipless. Also jerkbaits that dive various depths. Don't stay throwing your t-rigs in the same waters at the same spots all the time. Your results will shrivel for sure.

Yes, There are Bull Sharks in rivers
As someone who grew up literally right by the beach on lake Michigan. Spent 20+years of my life there. That water stays cold. Unbearably cold fall through spring and still cold in the summer. Sure there are fundraisers like the " polar bear swim " and such but for bull sharks... Not happening. Doesn't mean some idiot couldn't put one in there.. someone tried with piranha. But they won't live long.

Pond help
Yea definitely not hogwash. I could type out a whole page explaining why I think so but I don't feel the need. So we can just see who agrees. Or maybe ask @A-Jay , @Catt(whom I've seen say the only lure they don't remember in scientific studies Is a plastic worm ) @Team9nine if they think bass remembering lures is hogwash. And also maybe a couple suggestions for the OPs pond productivity

The Road To The Super Bowl 2018
Truer statement has yet to be said on this thread.. they are a bunch of thugs. And the stadium atmosphere isn't much different. I always see a scrap every time I go, always people smoking in the stands. I can honestly say from experience Detroit has friendlier fans overall ! Detroit!

I'm building an every day tackle box - one that I can carry that can have a good majority of the lures I use. Looking for input!
You're exactly right. Just know if you visit the same "haunts" they'll learn about that structure bug or brush hog or whatever your go-to`s are. If you don't have access to many areas , variety will lead to fruitful trips.

Jerkbait for sure.

Pond help
You need to drag, hop and swim a jig around the whole pond. Pitch them to suspecting spots and cast it out far to figure out the cover and contour of the pond. Rage chunk and 1/8oz bitsy bug is hot for me all summer long.

Bending down the barb on a hook
Oh yea. One jump and shake of the head... Easily thrown. Still very possible to play the fish correctly and get her in though.

Braid guys - what's your take?
All my reels, spinning and casting are spooled with braid. The sensitivity, managibility and casting distance are the main reasons . The strength to diameter factor is nice too. That being said, There are quite a few advantages of using a leader other than the obvious and most raved about visibility factor... Using fluoro leader offers a slightly faster sink rate when fishing soft plastics which seems to be big for me in the summer. It will also help keep a jerkbait down on a longer pause... The biggest plus about a leader for me is I can break it off if I get hung up without wasting a bunch of braid. Mono leaders are nice for treble hook baits and its straight braid for me with any top water. I fished with straight braid for about 8 years and never found bass to be line shy... But the other advantages a leader offers has pushed me in that direction for certain applications .
