Best Pro To Learn From
OK, so I already asked this question. But here it is, in it's own special place. If you had the chance to spend a week at the side of one professional angler, on the water, off the water, which one would you choose? My choice has been made clear in other posts, I would think, but if you haven't been reading along, I would choose Kevin Van Dam. He probably snores (that's just my luck).

best present angler
What I was trying to say. And anybody who really thinks Ike was better because KVD got mad at Amistad... I'm sorry, your grown up now, so you don't have to ride the short bus anymore. ;D It's a joke. Gett over yourself. KVD had an off year this year, if you look at his standings he was not in the top 12 as much as usual, he was DQ' ed once, and he was still SO close. Let's ask this ? Who would you want to spend a week with, amongst all the top pros? Oh, wait, that sounds like a whole new topic.

My g/f doesn't either!

PLine CX Premium
I have a question, then. Why, if Ande tournament is the gold standard, aren't y'all fishing with Ande tournament line? I have never tried it, since I first found P-Line I have never had a reason to switch. The Only reel I have that isn't spooled with P-Line is my topwater rod. It has 17 lb Sensation. I am very happy with what I use, but if there were something undeniably better, I'd switch in a heartbeat.

Saddam Executed
This is the most intelligent post so far. Personally, I would have sentenced Saddam to death by BB gun. If we charged a buck a BB, we could pa off the national debt. Also, we didn't go there for the reasons that most people asume. Originally, we were after OBL(don't really think the name deserves to be caps), but somehow we wound up destabilizing a country that was already close. IMHO, and I said the same before the war, we are there for processed dinosaur bones. Now we are stuck in a mess. All because we didnt stick to the task at hand, catching obl.

American Rodsmiths
For deep crankin, I have what I believe to be the ultimate combo. A St. Croix fiberglass 7' rod with a Shimano Curado 5:1 reel. The rod is too havy for shallow cranks, and the reel is too slow. I see a G Loomis rod in my future, solely for shallow cranks and topwaters. I will pair it with a 6:1 reel and 12-14lb test mono.

Tournament fishing--a negative view
Here goes... I have a 14 ft jonboat and fish alot of big water. My worst experiences have been: 1: the bass fisherman who pulled off plane within 50 feeet of my boat, then stopped to retie within easy castng distance in front of me. He was obviously not a tournament fisherman, had a thirty year old boat, but he ranks #1 in rude. I really thought about ripping a rattltrap through his boat. 2: I'm fishing a point that runs out into the cove about 100 yards. The cove is well over 300 yards wide at that point. So why did that cabin cruiser decide to go up on plane within 100 feet of me? 3:while fishing a bank close to the launch ramp, a small alum. boat comes in under half power. I know he was TRYING to be considerate, but fiberglass rigs have blown by alot closer without throwing half the wake. 4: see #1 this guy really could have gotten shot that day.

Insert Joke Here...
Well, if BASS ever gets tired of him, he'll find out quick that he should have gone for the 100,000.

Cool BASS video
Super-cool video. One day I'll be in it.

What does Chartruse look like to a bass?
I really havent used it much in worms for LMB, but spots can't stand a worm tipped with chartreuse. I havent done enough smallie fishin' to say anything about them.
-
Lipless cankbaits??
I really like ripping a rattltrap over submergent vegetation in the spring. color does'n't seem to matter much on most days, because I am going for a reaction strike. But I like the rattltrap because I can hear it coming thirty feet away,so the fish can too.
-
Jig trailer colors - natural or bright colors??
About the only loud color I have had any luck with was a Blue Saphire trailer. Sometomes I dip the very tip in spike-it chartreuse, but that is a rare occasion. That technique has worked, though, in dirty water.

Deps frog??? Ever used it?
I WOULD!!! they are supposed to be real good eatin. I don't want them in my lake, but I wouldn't mind catchin some for the freezer. Also, that is one good-lookin frog. (OW, stop that!!! Let me GO, you durn MONKEY!) ;D

Shaky head rig of choice?
If you find a jighead that doesn't hang up in rocks, I sure hope you let the rest of us know what it is. IMHO, the spot remover is as good as any in the rip-rap. I have been meaning to try some football styles, but my "BAIT MONKEY DEFENDER" program has defeated that urge so far. Also, I have had serious problems with football jigs in wood, and these are the places where the fish are in the reservoirs here. I can't afford to have my jig hang up in the best brushpile on a rip-rap bank.

1# reel choice
As far as spinning reels go, I really like my Quantum Catalyst. With baitcasters, I don't really have a favorite. Hopefully my Scorpion I ordered today will fill that bill(durn monkey). I read about it here first.

pond fishing question
Small ponds are where I first learnedd to fish. I would throw senkos, flukes, spinnerbaits, and pop-r's in that order.

One Cast, One Pig...
I hate to even say it, man. Every time I go and catch a fish on the first cast, I'm screwed the rest of the day. First cast of the year?! I'll pray for you. ;D

Here's the Shaky Head Scenario...
I fish shaky heads on two different rods. My first is a BPS Johnny Morris spinning combo, with the 7' c-rig rod, and 10lb p-line flouroclear. My other is a G Loomis IMX rod, 6'6", ML with an Accurist reel and 12lb. Berkley vanish. Anything heavier seems to be too stiff to handle the lightweight jigheads. Some of my best fish have come while shaking a jighead through the limbs of laydowns. No 6-lbers yet, but lots of 2-3lb fish. As long as you check your line often, and keep the knot in good shape, you will be amazed what 10 and 12 lb. test will hold.

Your one best technique
3/16 oz with a zoom finesse worm, green pumpkin. When all else fails... 8-)

Any clubs in Atlanta, GA?
Hey, Fishbear, this club looks ideal to me. I have a 14' jonboat, but nobody in the back. The way I have it set up, I'm not sure that I want anybody behind me when I fish. :-/Is this club strictly for teams? Also, I live in Cartersville, and it looks like this club is set up more toward the eastern side of Atl. If anybody knows about a similar club on my end of town, hook me up. I really want to get back into the tournament scene, either this year or next.

I got minr at Wal-mart. No joke. The vision center has a few decent pairs of polarized glasses.Mine cost about 180 after taxes. This post might be a little too late, though. The year is over. The year has begun.

best present angler
KVD is the best right now. Before he is done he will be the best ever. He is the Micheal Jordan of bass fishing. Rick Clunn is our Dr. J. Ick is our Dennis Rodman.Like it or not, he IS a great fisherman, but the guy just has NO class.

Favorite Bass Pro
Roland Martin was great before he turned into the walking infomercial.
