  1. Yeah, I used one. A Trion. For half a day. It fell apart. Worst $100 I ever spent. I also had a Team All Star flippin stick. The guides fell out in the middle of a tournament. I've bought my last Shakespeare product, thank you very much. I've never had worse products in my boat, but I'll start looking for 2nd worst now.
  2. I use 8 or 10lb Flouroclear. When I get a good shallow crank setup I will use 14-17 either CX or Sufix or Sensation. My spinning combo will keep the 8lb, but the deep crank combo will vary from 8-12lb
  3. FYI, Dodgeguy, I own and use a Johnny morris combo as well. I would throw it in the trash for another Loomis/Shimano combo, if I could afford to.
  4. I'd like to know what knot he uses. 8-) I've had problems with flouros and palomars, and I am anal about my knots. Co-polymers seem to hold much better, but flouros need a uni or a double palomar to work right.
  5. I just want to clarify... G Loomis is still American made, right? I read somewhere recently that some of their rods are made in China. I really hope that isn't true.
  6. I recently had a BPS Extreme rod break on me on the water. I replaced it with a G Loomis IMX. The difference is unbelievable. I cannot begin to describe the added sensitivity, the benefits of the lighter weight, or the better quality of the rod overall to someone who doesn't know. All I can say is that I will buy high end whenever I can afford it, because the difference is easily noticed by someone who knows their equipment. The Johnny Morris series is good for the money if you buy the combo on sale. Otherwise, get a Falcon or G Loomis or another top name rod and prepare to be blown away.
  7. In my experience, a Quantum will outcast a Shimano any day of the week, but the Shimano will outlast the Quantum without contest. I still don't own a Daiwa, so I can't compare them. It is too hard to decide between usability and durability for me to vote.
  8. I was debating on these two rods for my next flippin stick, as well as a Falcon Expert series. I figgered since were already on the general topic, I'd jump in.
  9. I will not catch a fish on the first cast if I can help it. I will throw an idiotic lure to an idiotic location and bring it back in an idiotic way. I also like to stop at a waffle house on the way to the lake, but that is just because I'm gonna be there all day and tey are the only ones open.
  10. You left gut instinct off of your list. That is the best tool a fisherman has. I will never forget the day I thought I needed to fish one particular bank that was tough to get to with a white spinnerbait. Well, I couldn't find the trail to it when I got to that pond that morning. So I proceeded to throw my spinnerbait around the easy side of the lake, along with several other lures. About two hours in, I see a guy on the other side of the pond. He proceeds to catch 4-5 fish in the next hour, all caught on a white spinnerbait. The biggest was about 8 lbs. IMO, gut instinct is the key to catching fish.
  11. Hey, NCThompson, I was born and raised in Havelock. The first place I ever fished was the Neuse. 8-) The bite should really start in mid March, with the spawn being in early April. Of course, this is subject to change with the weather. Hope this helps. For right now, I would throw a jig-n-pig and wait til spring.
  12. When I'm fishing a spotted bass lake, I'm a deep water brushpile findin' shakyhead riggin' fool. On LMB water, I am a power fisherman, with spinnerbaits, crankbaits, and critter baits bouncing through every laydown I can find. However, I'm not any good at any of it, so I'd say I'm really not a fisherman at all. ;D
  13. I like laydowns and brushpiles. There isn't much vegeation on the lakes I fish.
  14. What a difference a day makes. We were 20 with a high of 40 yesterday, today we hit 60. The weekend forecast is low to mid 50's. Guess where I'll be. Cold- fish. Rain-fish. Combine the two- talk fishin online.
  15. What time does that "bass pros" show come on vs ? I haven't turned my tv on since I got on the internet, except to watch football. I am fed up with all the fishing shows. The last time I watched fishing on TV, Bass Saturday had turned into whatever saturday. Don't these people realize they are throwing buckets of money and ratings away?! I'd love to find a show that concentrated on the technical side of bassin', not the infomercial side. Also, pain, comparing Bill Dance to Roland Martin is dirty. Bill Dance fishes water that is easy, Roland doesn't fish.
  16. I have the original model. If you PM me your address I will send it to you free. It was worthless to me when I bank fished, now I have a boat with an Eagle 320C, so it is even more worthless. I don't know what I did with the little reciever thingie. Worst case scenario, you spend 20$ for the reciever, 5$ for batts., wind up wasting the same afternoon I did with it.
  17. Here goes: Clear water-slightly stained=green pumpkin Slightly stained-muddy/off-color=junebug C-rig red shad 7+" worms on points for summer largies. Throw Smoke/red flake tubes. Throw flukes in watermelon or pearl. Throw bubblegum trick worms weghtless. Adjust all colors to light penetration and water clarity. Blah Blah Blah. Green pumpkin. when all else fails
  18. Munkin, that is the box I was talking about. How do you keep your spinnerbaits from falling out of those little slots?. Mine is a Flambeau Bigmouth (I went and looked).
  19. 3 out of 4 aint good (bad). I wold never buy the software. The bait moonkey don't want me spending unnessesary money in other directions.
  20. Nobody has mentioned the original Lunker Lure buzzer. I like their jigs too. Their buzzers get better with age. My 2 cents.
  21. Apparently not much. You should have at least 50 of them rigged up every time you hit the water. THEY WILL CATCH MUCHO FISH. Love, Bait Monkey. ;D
  22. Use a watermelon or green pumpkin color in clear water. I haven't used the original yet, but these colors are what I use in the Yum imitation.
  23. I have one of those Falcon FTO spinnerbait boxes, but I wasn't impressed. My spinnerbaits stayed in perfect position until I closed the lid. I now use a bigmouth (brand unknown, stuffed to the gills) and the old fashioned way of putting them in the big box is the best method I have used yet. I am seriously thinking about getting a wallet style organizer, since it works so well with plastics.
  24. I use every thing I carry. It makes my aluminum jonboat heavier, so the wind can't blow it around so much. As to what I throw in the lake, pointers, topwaters, finesse worms, and lizards for spots. Largemouths will get alot more airtime this year, so ask this ? again in 12 months.
  25. I used to do this, but recently realized that I had WAY too many 3700's full of worms. If you don't plan on buying alot, it is a good system. On the other hand, if you decide you need 10 colors of 100 different baits, you better leave them in the original packs. Do like Crazed LI Fisherman said. That is the best way, and I am in the process of converting all my worms to this system.
