  1. I order a few rods from Amazon and they came just right that. So far all have been great, I only had to get one replace under warranty but I think it was my fault.
  2. I'm not sure if size is really matter on top water lure. I have WP 130, Super Spook and R2S rover 128. I have yet to caught anything on them. I don't use these a lot, in fact I have not use it at all this year.
  3. I only have one 90 and two 110, might get one 75 but not in a hurry.
  4. @BaitFinessewhich rod do you have? I've heard that happen with Fenwick Ateos and Fenwick Elite tech a lot. Luckily this has not happen to mine (Ateos) yet, knock on wood.
  5. I don't mind foregrip still have 3 full cork in service but I like slim low profile locknut and EVA foam better. Something like this This type rod is more comfortable for me when fishing jerkbait (rod between two fingers). I also Check out new 2018 Daiwa tatula rod and plan to buy one, but can't wait so I just get myself another old reg tatula 7'1 MH/XF.
  6. I have been doing that to my Fluke, insert into nose/tail of the fluke itself or attached to screw lock hook using shrink tubing. I even attach to the line with some plastic tube. I don't really see that those catch more fish than simple regular Fluke so I stopped.
  7. That's me too lol.
  8. @Bluebasser86, I still have my GoPro and tripod in the lake since last year, would you be kind enough to come and fish it for me? Lol
  9. My buddy and I did this two weeks in a row, from 1:00 - 7:30 AM on 14' jon boat. It was pretty fun and we both caught pretty nice bass. We just use reg head light but we didn't use it unless we have too. We have navigator light(red-green) on but turn of stern light unless we see other boat nearby. We also have spotlight for navigation and retrieve our lure from shoreline. Out target mostly shallow rocky area with weed pad. We did not bring a ton of tackle just basic bottoms contact weighted Texas rig/Jig with big chunky creature bait. Also we have top water tie on for early morning bite with is more active than night. Last night I got most of my fish on 3/16oz brass and glass Texas rigs with Missile bait D'stroyer, My friend got his on 1/8oz Texas rig Pit boss plus 2 blow up on live target frog.
  10. All my 3 spinning got 20lbs Daiwa J-braid. The smallest one is Shimano 750 size, the rest 2500. I'll use leader if needed.
  11. I might not be such a helpful here but I will second or third on box anchor. We do a lot of anchor on our 20' pontoon boat, I read a lot about anchor option and end up with box anchor. This is money well spent expensive up front but worry free and less storage room. We usually anchor in 15-20' of water but I ordered 100' 3/8 rope, just in case. I follow instructions that been given to leave at least 2-3 time rope per depth. The only instruction that I did not follow is bow and stern anchor (there are a whole bunch of discussion about one versus two anchor). I use only one anchor on bow side, of course my pontoon would swing according to wind but never move from spot I set anchor. On my 14' Jon boat I have 15lbs three fluted river anchor. It hold my Jonboat good. I anchored at inlet @ DVL lake while they let water in full stream and my anchor still stay put. The only down fall of mushroom type anchor is when sink in mud bottom, it super hard to pull out.
  12. Happy birthday bros, you deserve it.
  13. I guess CA don't have slot limit, State regulation is >12" 5 bass but most of the Lake regulation is 15" 2-5 bass.
  14. I'm a fan of Senko, why? It has been shown many times with Senko just let them sit in the water and do nothing still get bite. With that said recently I tried BPS brand and these do catch fish too. I save Senko for when friends and families wanna try a hand on bass, but myself I use BPS especially on weighted wacky rig.
  15. It is all depends, if you can find local reel repair guy, it might cost you some but might be a matter of small parts like spring. Ask if they will do estimate and how much it cost to just open up the reel.
  16. Promax? That bearing is there for supporting spool shaft only not for casting and yes it bigger that the shaft. Promax just like Daiwa reel on some newer Shimano reel with spool attached to shaft and another one on side plate that spin when casting.
  17. @soflabasserif I lived in Florida, I would called it a heaven of fishing. It happens to have 3 of my favorite fish to catch and eat. King mackerel, Barramundi and crown knife. I don't mind fishing for barramundi in pay Lake at all as long as I use artificial lures. Also those snake head, peacock bass and all those groupers/snappers, I am not even sure if I'm gonna target LMB if I live in FL.
  18. I would try both and see which one get you the most bite. It is also depends on how thick is vegatation in your Lake. Weedless worm, sometime is harder to cast and won't get you any distance unless you use spinning rod, even that it might not get your lure down to where the fish at. Shakey head, would be quite hard to work the lure thfru thick stuff, you would get frustrated very quick if you keep reel in grass after grass, and also you might have some hard time detecting the bite. Just this morning I caught one decent size fish with Zoom ol'monster on 1/8 slider head, but I've been fishing this weed pad for the past 2-3 weeks and used everything from mushroom head/ stand up jig/ weighted Texas rig and unweighted texas rig.
  19. Nice beautiful bass man. I envy you guys in Florida. You have so many kind of fish I would love to catch there.
  20. Thanks @A-Jay i hope I can post this video. This fish is a great pull, great jump and taste so d**n good.
  21. I bet the SLX would be the same size frame as curado K but with 150 size line capacity. Even with no dial adjuster like the K, but with heavier lure I don't see the need of it either. The only downfall I see on this reel is no Super Free Spool which help a lot in casting distance but with shallower spool the difference might be very minimum. The one that hit my eyes is the SLX rod. I like that very low profile reel seat lock nut, I wish it red accent instead of blue.
  22. This one here. My last trip to Thailand, I went with him a whole day hopped two big pond but didn't catch one.
  23. My favorite and most productive is the same, Soft plastic Jerkbait. It is my fav so I use these lure through out the year. I use Fluke in Spring and fall as search bait, where I fish faster in water column. I will use Fluke post spawn until summer where I fish slower and let it dance on the bottom. If I see a whole bunch of weed, I'm thinking about Fluke.
  24. I totally agree with you on two points and that happens in Canyon Lake too. 1.I got quite a bit of top water bite but I have to work hard for it, and the result might not be as good as fishing with other type lure. 2.I hardly get any bite on fast moving lures even with top water, I have to retrieve as slow as possible. I think may be water clearity have to do with it since here is so strain and murky.
  25. Don't quote me on this, since I never fish standing on my kayak, but a California guy on youtube that I watch him all the time, always sit down right when he knows he hook a good size fish, not when the bass already close to his kayak.
