  1. I believe there is still an IMX Pro SJR721. not sure how much of a step down it is though. I've never fished a GLX only IMX Pro which I think are great
  2. Not that I can afford one lol, but the one set of rods that was missing from the old GLX line was SJR and MBR rods in the 7'6 lengths. The IMX Pro and NRX + have them but not in the middle with the GLX. It looks like these aren't included this time around either. Its very weird.
  3. I've already bought extra lottery tickets.
  4. I was under the impression that the 200 size reels were slightly wider than the 150 size reels
  5. that's cause they are still actually amateurs
  6. I have the Loomis IMX Pro SJR901S 7'6 Light power fast action. its amazing for everything small. very sensitive. not sure if its too soft for dropshotting though.
  7. i'd give my pecker away to upgrade my Curado 200i to a Bantam 150 mglA. but they are over $500 up here in Canada.
  8. Then definitely the SJR842. I used to own the GL3 version of this rod paired with a 3000 size Sustain and it was fantastic.
  9. I would get the 902S for all purpose use. I love 7'5 and 7'6 rods. I have the 901S in the IMX pro version, it is an amazing rod for all things small. for more general use the 902 would be amazing. the Loomis SJR tapers are so versatile.
  10. anyone know if it is actually a new blank? or is it just the LTB rod blank with different components and no paint job? St. Croix reworked the avid blank with the Avid X's by adding different components but I don't think they sold well as they sure didn't last very long.
  11. I won't be buying one of these as I bought an IMX Pro rod last year, but man, they have a 7'10 ML extra fast spinning rod in the line up. that length and ML power sounds awesome!
  12. people have long complained about the GLX reel seats, they are not an off the shelf item they are custom done for the GLX and a lot of people don't like them. TW is full of complains about them. I believe the IMX Pro has a standard Fuji reel seat (which I love) but Loomis feels the need to 'go custom' on their higher up models and I honestly don't think thats a good thing. Give me Fuji guides and a Fuji reel seat all day long.
  13. Palomar knot for me. I have straightened the hook out on a #2 Mepps with 6 pound test Sufix Siege mono using this knot. its crazy strong and so simple to tie.
  14. They were still using that GL2 logo design when I got into Loomis rods in 1998. So it may not necessarily be from the 80s. Just after than they changed the logo on the GL2s to the one with the weird 2 on it. No doubt you can find old G. Loomis catalogues online to verify. Loomis was sold to Shimano in 1997 so right around the same time as the buy out.
  15. Sufix Elite or Siege.
  16. ya i took a quick pic then released him, he took off like a rocket. I post the pic of me holding the fish on the muskie boards lol people would overreact and freak out saying he's dead etc. but thats not true at all.
  17. Question: what's the technique that these little reels are used for? It seems like things are getting smaller and smaller, like 200 sized reels are even becoming uncommon now, most baitcasting reels from Shimano are now the 150 size and now the 70s are becoming popular. is it mainly just a small reel for all purpose bass fishing? or is it something more specific like flipping where you don't typically have a lot of line out? thanks
  18. That is overfilled by quite a bit. should be able to just see the edges of the spool. that will help stop the overruns too. Also BG is not very limp. Try a better mono like Sufix Siege or elite. it will cast much smoother.
  19. Jesus y'all are a bunch of amateurs!! :))
  20. Does the Ci4 body flex more vs the aluminum frame of the Nasci?
  21. Thats the old Nasci though. the new one has the screw in handle, its a much better reel I have the nasci 1000 and its amazing
  22. for me it was my IMX Pro 7'6 MH Mag Bass rod with my curado 200i, 12 pound text Sufix Siege and a #5 Mepps Black Fury in line spinner in red and black. Caught my first muskie with this rig oh yeah
