  1. the IMX Pro SJR 901 would be awesome for this. I have it and throw all kinds of small light stuff on it with a 1000 Nasci and 6 pound Sufix Siege. its rated for up to 5/16 oz lures. its pricey but amazballs
  2. best way to avoid braid wind knots on spinning gear is to use a good quality mono like Sufix Siege.
  3. St. Croix is pushing heavy marketing on these but I can't help but feel they might have missed the boat. for the same price, can you not get an SLX reel that has an aluminum frame, aluminum handle etc etc.? a whole lot of graphite on these?? Might have been better to try to include more metal and bump the price up a bit??
  4. back in the mid to late 90s, the Loomis IMX and GLX were arguably the best blanks available and they both had a 'carbon scrim' as part of their building process. nowadays, you never hear about this. is this still used??
  5. Amazing lineup. What line do you have on ? 20 pound mono or Floro?
  6. True, but this works to our advantage sometimes too: they still have yet to put EVA foam grips on any of their rods. Thank God for that.
  7. They have an entire line up of ultra light to light spinning rods out (the GCX Lite). So I'm not sure if they would venture into the BSF realm for baitcasting??
  8. Ya Tackle warehouse used to have THE BEST website in the business, now it totally SUCKS
  9. I thought since shimano changed the thumb bar design on the Curado 150 MGL and the Tranx 150 that they had moved away from that thumb bar design. But then they went and put it back on the Curado 200 M. The thumb bar design on the previous generation curado (the 200i) (and the one on the 150 MGL) is way better IMO.
  10. Congrats I think you will like the IMX Pro rods. I own two (one spinning and one baitcasting) and they are both amazing. Expensive but worth every penny.
  11. the one piece bail arm on the Ultegra is probably worth the upgrade. line always flows instantly smoothly onto the line roller with this design. Ultegra and up have this
  12. probably need to step up to a Tranx 300?
  13. any of the MBR taper rods can pretty much be used for everything. they are the taper that most other manufacturers have been trying to emulate for decades now they aren't just for bottom contact.
  14. My Loomis IMX Pro MBR 903C and Curado 200i with 12 pound Sufix Siege mono next to the musky it caught. released and took off like a torpedo
  15. I use a good quality mono (I like Sufix Siege) on my spinning reels. I use 4 or 6 pound on my 1000 reel 8 or 10 on my 3000 12 on my 4000 (reel for salmon) casts very well and its strong
  16. ok this i gotta check out lol ya that was the instant I got him out of the water. he was protected by the wet net and safely released. he took off like a torpedo.
  17. Only problem was, I had fished for hours with my actual muskie setup, and I took a break from it, picked up my Loomis Imx Pro Bass rod (7'6 MH) cast da mepps and wham. go figure lol Cast Da Mepps!
  18. I put all that stuff in my tacklebag then empty out tackle bag every 6 years or so
  19. I've never fished with an imx sw rod, but the folks over at Tactical Bassin love the 966 and I've seen other glowing reviews on it on other youtube videos. They say if you can get one grab it because they fly out the doors apparently. not easy to get.
  20. Even though its a 200 size reel, the Curado 200i is really comfortable and easy to palm
  21. is the blank exposed under the reel seat? I love the look of these handles though, looks really cool congrats!
  22. I would get a Loomis GCX SJR842 one of the best tapers for a spinning rod ever is the Loomis SJR series. I used to have the GL3 version and it was amazing. the GCX version is very similar.
  23. I loosen them after each outing because I put the snap of my leader on my hook keeper. Throwback to the 90s when everyone said you had to lol
  24. Don't rule out the IMX Pro rods either. they are awesome
