  1. I like Sufix Siege mono in smoke green color in 12 pound test for baitcasting gear
  2. I think the Twinpower FD is the nicest looking reel shimano has ever made for a spinning reel so hawt
  3. I think a lot of the value is in the long term smoothness and trouble free use I fish with Stradics a lot and yes they are expensive but 10 years in my stradics are still super smooth and have never had a part fail. I just lube them up about twice per season and thats it. Im not sure the cheaper reels will give you that kind of service.
  4. I have the 5.8 gear ratio Tranx 400A and it is very powerful. I can retrieve big high resistant musky baits no problem. they made a 300 size and also a 300 size Curado as well. these might be better choices if you need something beefy I don't think the normal sized bass reels will cut it ??
  5. Very nice and congrats!! I upgraded an older E6X to the IMX Pro MBR 903C last summer and love it the IMX Pro's are incredible rods. I have mine paired with a Curado 200i and I use 12 pound Sufix Siege with it. Only issue is now I want to try an IMX Pro in a spinning model too LOL
  6. Ive gone the other way. use baitcasting gear for everything except the super light stuff.
  7. Thanks all, the rod I am looking to match this nasci with the IMX Pro SJR901
  8. What happens if I put a 1000 size shimano spinning reel (Nasci 1000) on a 7'6 rod? will it suck?
  9. well, for what its worth, I have the 400A Tranx on my pike/musky rod and its amazing super smooth and casts far and easily.
  10. I fit 8 foot 1 piece musky rods into my toyota corolla without issue. put the butt end on the floor in the front and the rod up through the seats in the back. dont put rods through the trunk thats a recipe for disaster. 2 piece rods suck lol
  11. Roland Martin used to show it on his show in the late 80s and early 90s when braid was just starting to become popular (spiderwire) but Roland still used Berkley Trilene mono at the time.
  12. I would check out the new Loomis GCX Lite rods there is a whole lineup of light and UL rods Loomis UL rods have always been great as they have true fast actions. Ive owned a few over the years. Most of the St. Croix UL rods were way too whippy for me. I prefer longer UL rods though. I have the TSR791 which is the Loomis trout rod (now discontinued replaced with the GCX Lite) and its a 6'7 rod.
  13. I use 20 pound test Sufix Siege from throwing big Rapala Jointed Shad swimbaits and tied with a palomar knot I Can't break it. i have to cut it you could probably downsize to 20 pound Big game, use the palomar knot and never look back.
  14. I have a 7 foot MH Loomis GL3 that I use for salmon pier fishing. its rated for up to 3/4 oz lures and I use a 4000 size shimano spinning reel with 12 pound test sufix Siege. it works very well.
  15. Sufix Siege for everything I do in various pound tests. but generally 4 or 6 for UL work, 10 pound for regular spinning gear and 12 pound for baitcasting gear
  16. I haven't fished the GCX but it is the same blank as the 2018 E6X models which are really good. the 2015 E6X's sucked. I am not a fan of the reel seat on the Victory Line, the casting models have thick foam where the exposed blank should be under the reel. SC really missed an opportunity here. The GCX has the exposed blank reel seat
  17. Sufix Siege is the best mono ive ever used and ive tried most of them its rare in that its tough and strong yet limp enough to use on spinning gear too its awesome stuff
  18. ah ok maybe thats an option i can explore. thanks
  19. Ya the reason i probably wont go that route is shipping the rod to them is a pain and also they will probably want to replace it with a GCX model etc. I have my heart set on my next spinning rod to be the imx pro. I got the imx pro MBR903 last summer and it is so awesome. I can't wait to try a spinning model
  20. Hi, so I have an 18 year old GL3 SJR 700 rod (5'10 mag light power) that the reel seat is basically broken on. I am looking for a replacement rod in the near future and I was looking at the IMX Pro SJR901S rod, it has similar specs and I think i will really like the extra length I have a 1000 size shimano Nasci reel I would use this rod for small crank baits and in line spinners. I know they make a 6 foot version (which may balance better with my 1000 size reel) but I have been getting longer rods as i have been upgrading over the last several years and love 7'5 and 7'6 rods. Any reviews on this particular model? ps pics of some tackleporn would be good too thanks
  21. or the Purple St. Croix Mojo rods ..Jeez lol
  22. palomar is the best and strongest IMO
