St Croix Warranty
Is it me or does it look like St. Croix has been having a ton of breakage issues lately?? the Avid treks, the tidemasters etc. lately so many reviews of their stuff has been from people with broken rods?? Whats going on?

7' vs 7'3 vs 7'6
true but thats mainly because a 2 pound smallmouth fights like a 5 pound largemouth!

Braid On Everything?
Im the opposite, I use all Sufix Siege mono on all my setups in varying pound tests. its awesome. I tried braid and didn't like it, got wind knots on spinning gear, I look back and realize i was using too light of braid ( 10 pound 832), but Sufix Siege casts so well and is so strong in 10 pound test on spinning gear I can't see a reason to try it again in say a 30 pound braid.

7' vs 7'3 vs 7'6
Over the last few years I have slowly been changing out all my rods to longer rods. I now have a 7'6 MH fast action baitcasting rod, a 7'5 XF medium spinning rod and an 8 foot muskie rod (all one peice) I love the longer rods for the extra casting distance. I notice a difference between the 7 foot rods and the 7'5 and 7'6. definitely casts farther. I am a bank fisherman so the extra distance really helps.

Curado K Thumb Bar
ah yes! they loved the D series it was all metal and awesome. one of the last reels from the 'good old days' lol

Curado K Thumb Bar
ya i hear you, i have never used a G model, the guys a tackletour loved the I series but they didn't oike the G series as much (saying it wasn't a step up from its previous generation). go figure lol

Curado K Thumb Bar
I would totally agree on the K series as the thumb bar kept separating on lots of them and the dials on them were super stiff. However, the I series of curados are/were amazing. I haven't upgraded my 200i because I think the new stuff isn't better?? but I could be wrong.

Mono recommendations?
I love Sufix Siege mono, its the best mono I have ever used. I used it on all my rigs, both spinning and baitcasting. braid sucks lol I use 10 on spinning gear and 12 on baitcasting gear. slayed some smallies a few weekends ago with it oooh yeah diggit!!

Shimano Citica 200 HG Brake Issues
which dial are you referring to? the one with numbers on it or the tension knob on the star drag side?
-
Shimano Citica 200 HG Brake Issues
ok so I have a curado 200i which is very similar. so how i fish it is this: 2 red brakes on, 2 off dial on side of reel set to 2 and a half. try up to 4 if you are having issues then back off. tension knob adjusted so lure falls slowly when you press the clutch. try this setup . I never touch the dial or brakes ever, just the tension knob when changing lures. give it a try

What is the difference between "action" and "taper"?
medium is normally used in regards to the power of the rod. not the action/taper (which are the same thing). Action is given to a rod by its taper. words used to describe taper are fast, moderate, moderate fast and extra fast. words used to describe power are ulralight, light, medium, medium heavy, heavy and extra heavy.

Tatula vs stradic
one thing to consider is I know in some daiwa reels they have removed the line roller bearing. not sure if the Tatula was one of them but if so, it may not be as line friendly because of this??

A disturbing day on the water…multiple knot failure
I have found the palomar knot to be way better than the improved clinch knot, at least how I am tying them. I used to get the odd failure with the clinch knot, once I switched to the palomar knot I can't break Sufix Siege I have to cut it. Big Game would be the same its very strong. I would switch to the Palomar knot. its super easy and super strong.

Knot Tying Troubles
for a great colored mono, try Sufix Siege in Smoke Green color. its amazing

Reel for Conquest 905
for baits that big with heavier line I would try for a tranx 300. I have the 400A for musky and pike and its an awesome reel. the 300 size is slightly smaller but still big enough for heavy line and big baits.

Poll: Best high-end casting rod rankings.!
It may not be 'high end' but my IMX Pro MBR903C is amazing

Line Recommendation for Mid Cranking
12 pound test Sufix Siege
-
Are you brand loyal ?
ya I'm brand loyal. all my reels are shimanos, my rods are all either G. Loomis or St. Croix. I use Sufix Siege mono in various pound tests for everything
-
I need to order some line for several combos...
I would use 6, 10 and 12 pound tests mono respectively. I like Sufix Siege a lot on both spinning and baitcasting gear

Loomis IMX Pro MBR903C review
Hi, so I upgraded my 2015 model E6X MBR903c to an IMX Pro in the same model this summer. wow what a difference. The IMX casts better, is lighter, better balanced and is much more sensitive. I can feel the pulses of my #5 Mepps black fury that I never could with the E6X. this rod is the first 'higher end' rod I've ever owned (its definitely a step above my GL3s and Avids (and the E6X) I've owned in the past. I like the way the eyelets are slanted forward too. everything about this rod screams 'high end' to me. It's action is crisp, it casts like a dream. Expensive but worth every penny IMO. It slayed a good sized smallmouth on the #5 Mepps Black Fury for me this weekend: Highly recommended rod.
