  1. Hi, something I have been wondering is the imx pro SJR901S that I have is listed everywhere as being 'light' but the NRX version with the exact same specs is labeled 'medium light'. Is the imx pro softer than the nrx? or are they the same and its just a typo that has carried through on every website?
  2. I think the G. Loomis imx pro rods are underrated, they get overlooked in the lineup in favor of the GLX and NRX rods. However, they are light, sensitive, balanced and strong. They also have full cork handles and Fuji reel seats which I really like.
  3. from the bank. You can still catch great fish from the bank like this one: 7'6 rods help get your bait out there.
  4. I used to fish with St. Croix and Loomis now I'm all Loomis. Since the pandemic, reddit and facebook groups are a sea of broken St. Croix rods and reel seats falling apart. I have posted this before on here but get shot down saying its all "user error" even though the same groups are not a sea of broken Loomis rods etc. Its a shame because the early 2000's full cork Avid rods with the alconite guides were still THE BEST bang for the buck in the industry for a great rod IMO. Now they have cheaper guides and no longer full cork etc. They seem to be more brittle now than they used to be and they put cheap steel guides on avid walleye and panfish rods which is a shame.
  5. I tend to keep rods forever if i really like them. I sell stuff to help finance new gear. A few years ago I sold an 18 year old G. Loomis GL3 SJR 700 (was my favorite rod) because the reel seat was broken and the cork was worn down. I replaced with with an imx pro SJR901S. love the imx pro as much as I loved the GL3.
  6. A few years ago I slowly started moving up to longer rods, 7'6 and 7'5 rods from 6'6 and 7 foot rods and it makes a big difference in casting distance. I love them. I would try to go up to 7'5 or 7'6 if you can.
  7. I still think a curado spinning rod is weird lol considering there are no curado spinning reels haha
  8. i used to use big game until I discovered Sufix Siege. its as strong as big game but is 1000x more limp, you can use it fine without line conditioner on both baitcasting and spinning gear. the downside is that is way more expensive than Big Game.
  9. I use to own the 842 in GL3 and it was an amazing do it all spinning rod. I used a 3000 size shimano spinning reel and 8 pound Sufix mono.
  10. Hook keeper on these yet? they keep missing the boat.
  11. about 10 years ago I slowly started migrating to longer rods, 7'5 and 7'6 from 6'6 and 7'0 ones. They definitely cast farther and as a bank fisherman thats a real plus for me. The shortest rod I own now is 6'7.
  12. The Orange Legend Tournament glass rods are really heavy though wow
  13. i used to use this knot until I learned the palomar knot. Stronger and easier to tie.
  14. ya the 852s isn't the best caster. But the 892s is a great caster but it's not made in NRX.
  15. Me too. Over the last few years I have made the jump up from G. Loomis E6X and GL3 rods to the Imx Pro line of rods and they are quite a bit better than either the GL3 or the E6X was. I would give my pecker away to fish with the next level up, the new GLX rods but they are $800 up here in Canada and the NRX are almost $1000...😬
  16. last summer I bought a Stradic 1000 FM and its been amazing. Smooth, casts amazing with a very smooth drag.
  17. That is a late 90s Loomis Musky rod. They don't make any musky rods anymore.
  18. I use Sufix Siege or Elite 4 pound mono
  19. Are the Zodias and Expride the exact same rod blank just with different components?
  20. I use Sufix Siege mono on my rigs, 12 on baitcasting, 6 on spinning (1000 size stradic)
  21. I have the Curado 200i PG and its amazing. it was probably the last great Curado lol
  22. The Loomis imx pro rods both spinning and baitcasting are excellent as an alternative to the more expensive GLX and NRX rods. Nice to seem them getting a shoutout here. They seem to get lost in the shuffle with their more expensive cousins. I have two of them and love em.
  23. I have a Stradic 4000 FJ that I only use on my Loomis Escape travel rod lol no idea why lol
