  1. 3 consecutive JR STATE Champions won on my boat , thats right all those years you were on another boat :'( :'( :-/ in the State finals The Goose EGG is is right when you aboard
  2. Since I have repaired and rebuilt TIN2loose's trolling motor several times this summer I can attest that he can torture test a trolling motor. He is the only one I know who can fish on 100% and later say "I fished slow today" Those failures on Minnkota 80lbs have alot to do with the fact that people upgraded to them and the Minnkota 80lb motors draw the highest amperage of ANY 12-24 -36 volt motor. They draw 56 AMPS on the Minkkota spec sheet. While the wiring, plugs and connections may have been adequate before the 80lb Minnkota will find the wekenst link. If everything is ok then they are great motors. I run one and have installed 4 for friends. 3 years and it's like new. 2.9 gps on high no wind.
  3. Catt is right about location. But... just from my experience I used to have a serious issue like that were I could get my 5 in the boat no problem but I would come in no weight. Then I fished a tourney with my buddy and he ended up really turning me into a jig fisherman. It was one of those deals were I would throw to a tree with a senko or spinnerbait and pull of that little 12-14" keeper then my buddy would throw the jig and pull off the 3 pounder. Then we would go to anothe rpiece of cover and I would throw and not get bit and my Buddy with his jig would pull of another quality fish. It took me couple of trips where I would get my you know what beat bad to get me to start doing it. When I did eventually start fishing a jig I didnt get the numbers I used to but I got the quality. Maybe its just a New England deal, I really dont know, but I have been much more successful catching above average fish since.
  4. I would definatley go with those 2 rock reefs on the points that Low Budget pointed out and would definatley fish around the boat ramp by the visitors center. If the lake is pressured or sees tournaments the main boat ramp or ramps will always have fish in or around the area. Just find any type of cover or structure that looks like it may have fish on it and fish it.
  5. Deb, Welcome aboard, we are all here to help. Please feel free to write or call 24/7. I've read many of the post and threads and just want to say Hello & let you know that working with CAST is one of the most fulfilling times of my life.
  6. The only other thing I can say was that 2 weeks ago it was green like Roger Williams Park and now you can see down to about 8-10 feet. Just really strange.
  7. Its just really clear but there is more baitfish thats why I cannot understand why. There is just as many anglers as last if not less. I just cant figure it out. Like I said the two main ways to fish this lake that have always produced year round is the shoreline brush or the boulders, there is really no other structure or anything to hold fish the deeper water 12-18' is just beach sand.
  8. Ok fish a little 40 acre reservoir in Rhode Island named Curran. Last year it threw out all quality 2-3 pound largemouth usually 15-20 per trip and you would get a few shorts here and there. Now there is really only two ways to fish this place and catch large numbers of quality fish. Either flip a 300 foot shoreline with all brush or fish scattered boulders around the lake ranging from 2-10 feet. Here is the issue, this year you are lucky to pull a 2-3 pound fish every few outings but you will catch dozens of shorts with a 12 or 14 incher here or there. Any ideas? The place is much clearer than last and I have fished every inch of the pond hard and just cant find those bigger fish. No signs of dead fish ir anything. Just dont know?

  10. THe brown truck is here, the brown truck is here, nice video clip from Cableas on the revo sc.
  11. I agree with making it interesting, if it's a bad dont keep them out there for hours, if they have several days of hours of no fish, chances are they will no longer be interested. Let them learn about the bad days of fishing as they get older. :'( Find a good place to fish and remember to them 10 blue gils are better than 9 bass " most of the time" so you better be willing to fish the area where they are having a time of there life. Take them fishing not them watching you fish, pass the pole if your getting bites and teach them how to reel one in, catching the fish can come later.
  12. Those photo's are right out of a B.A.S.S. conservation powerpoint. Sat in on its first showing this year. It does make since and a added tip is to keep a bottle of MT DEW, yes soda next time you have a bleeding fish pour some MT DEW or 7 UP and the bleeding will stop immeadiatly.
  13. A black a white from Hart buzzbaits with the gold blades is all that I use, Everyone the see's them or tries them ends up with buying them. Buzzthrob just like last post.

  15. Oceangirl is truly a complete concept targeted in getting, keeping and providing the tools; rods, reels, clothing, support and much more to young girls to WBT Pro Women Anglers. Owner John "Corky" Smith, and his team including WBT angler and Pro Staff Captain Darla Bardelli & Kelly back in the office have made a huge impact in the young girl and womens fishing world. After talking with them I could see their passion to get young girls involved with fishing as well as becoming active in the take me fishing program and other honest family projects. Long before Delainey had won the State Championship and rights to go to the National Guard World Championship OceanGirl was in the works of sponsoring her based on her fishing as well as her help with C.A.S.T. for Kids and other areas of fishing beside her performance at the scales come weighin time. Since this thread is tackle making time to stick to the topic, the rods. Head over to the website to get all the details but after all the looks, shakes, bends can I give that rod a try last week in Arkansas looks like they may need to expand the line to include some rods for DADS, Gramps and uncles but in a bit darker shade. My hats off to the crew over at OceanGirl for getting kids involved with fishing and a special thanks for their support given to Delainey.
  16. Well happy 40th buddy, welcome to the club. Ya know they say the mind is first to go and after your recent action at the CAST Alumni Day I think it may be going. You guys decide????? 19. Keep a bottle of MT Dew or 7 Up in the boat, pour it rigth down the mouth for a few seconds it will help immeaditaly. This was discussed at ou BASS workshops in Alabama this past Febuary. I have a complete slidshow on it maybe we can get Glenn to host it. We have permission to pass it along to anyone.
  20. If you want a matching triton seat let me know. I can give you a number to call.
  21. Hey buddy see if the prop is nicked up if so take a file and make it look new again. Try to take a even amount off both blades so it stays somewhat balanced. Large nicks on the prop blades will cause those bad vibes on TM.
  22. To the family of those involved my condolences. Even with PDF's NH water this time of year is pretty cold and must have been a factor. Being on the water you can never be too prepared but certain factors like weather and equipment are always a challenge. Here in Rhode Island our DEM & State issued a new PDF rule for mid 2006 and will be in forced in 2007. Pre 2006 10 and under must wear PDF's all the time. NOW all 12 and under must wear PDF's all the time unless the boat is tied to a dock, or over 65 feet, no exceptions. It's a good rule for all. Another note if you have an inflatable PDF and you are not wearing it you must have another regular PDF on board.
  23. USDA REVISES ITS FEDERAL ORDER REGARDING THE MOVEMENT OF LIVE FISH SUSCEPTIBLE TO VIRAL HEMORRHAGIC SEPTICEMIA WASHINGTON, May 4, 2007--The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service revised today its Federal Order on viral hemorrhagic septicemia (VHS), a highly contagious disease of some fresh and saltwater fish, to allow for catch-and-release fishing activities because they do not unduly increase the risk of introduction and spread of VHS. The October 2006 Federal Order was established to prohibit the importation of 37 species of live fish from two Canadian provinces into the United States and the interstate movement of the same species from the eight states bordering the Great Lakes. Today's revision of the Federal Order will allow for the catch-and-release of VHS-susceptible fish in waters that cross state and international boundaries. These activities include, recreational fishing, tournaments, competitions, fishing derbies or other types of contests where individuals catch, compare and release live VHS-susceptible fish. Catch-and-release fishing activities do not include the movement of VHS-susceptible fish intended to be used as live bait. APHIS issued the initial action in response to detections of VHS for the first time in fresh-water fish in several of the Great Lakes and related tributaries. VHS is responsible for several large-scale die-offs of wild fish in the Great Lakes region. The original Federal Order was issued in response to the rapid spread of VHS in the Great Lakes region and the potential impact of the disease on a growing number of fish species, including species of fish raised commercially in the United States. The intent of the Federal Order is to prevent the introduction of VHS into aquaculture facilities by controlling the movement of live fish species from the Great Lakes region at risk of harboring the VHS virus while APHIS gathers more information on the disease and puts in place a federal regulatory program that allows for the interstate movement of fish susceptible to VHS via testing and certification. The revised Federal Order will remain in effect until the interim rule is published. The modified and the original emergency orders putting these protections into place can be found on our Web site at http://www.aphis.usda.gov/animal_health/animal_dis_spec/aquaculture/. # Note to Reporters: USDA news releases, program announcements and media advisories are available on the Internet. Go to the APHIS news release page at http://www.aphis.usda.gov/newsroom. Also, anyone with an e-mail address can sign up to receive APHIS press releases automatically.
