I was reeling in a fish and a Musky ate it once, it closed my hook gap shut it bit so hard. Granted it was a crappie jig but I’ve had many buddies catch 40” + Musky with a crappie jig

That world record was killed in quite a maze of cypress in Alabama river. Every time I fish amongst the cypress I see and hear monster gators

well it took me several hours and wasn’t a DD or PB, but I got one haha I definitely Wouldn’t have been able to brave the elements if it wasn’t our dock and I could just run in by the fire occasionally

I think there are bigger ones in FLA, they just don’t have as good of hunting seasons

Coldest air I’ve ever fished in, got me a 6 degree channel cat edit: just got another , had to climb down and grab this one, didn’t want to dock flip it

32 lb canoe is definitely not meant for standing, note I said nearly any of them when you walk on steep roofs all day at work, balancing in a canoe ain’t so bad

I stand in mine , very stable no mods. 15’ alumacraft. Honesty you can stand in darn near any of them right out the box

You might want to let that gasket get good and seated and broken in before stomping on it. I don’t know if this is even true but it seems somewhat logical. 80 mph is out of my comfort zone haha

We rented some piece of junk in the Florida keys and me and my brother were fishing with frozen shrimp at every place we could find. We even rented some kayaks and apparently sat in shrimp juice the whole time we were fishing. We filleted some fish and took them home a few times as well. The day we went to turn that car in, it stunk worse than the downstream end of a hot dog factory. I tore it apart looking for a shrimp or fish fillet and I never found anything. I mean completely tore it apart. The rental company added a $75 dollar fee for stank and we felt like that was reasonable because I couldn’t find whatever it was hahaha

I should add, the small shallow rivers can be good after a warm rain when they get up into the 50s really fast. They will warm faster that deep waters, so they do have a place for some parts of winter. But I would much much much much rather fish a deeper river/lake with water temperature stability in winter , the fish seem to be more consistently hungry

My aunt in FLA used to have a grapefruit tree, she would bring us the whole trunk of her car full!! Not sure if that’s legal……. Can confirm it was tasty

That’s pretty cool! I’d like to fish Lake Michigan one day but I’ve always encountered it quite wavy. I tossed a couple casts here and there, caught a goby ……

Hilarious timing, I threw out my favorite earlier this week. It’s embarrassing I still had it, haven’t worn it in a decade or more. I took some photos for the archives, had it since 1992. I kind of felt like I should have some sort of funeral. I’m not even a redskins fan, not sure how I even got it but I wore the heck out of it (as you can see). this hat went fishing all over Jackson hole, WY when I was 12 years old.
