  1. when joining braid backing to braid main I use a 4 wrap uni to uni and please a piece of scotch tape over the knot......smooth sailing from then on...
  2. I have them both and they DO get down to the advertised depth providing my electrics are accurate..my CB rod is rated to 1 ounce and they fly just fine. The weight on the bill is not a gimmick
  3. Great and thanks for sharing.....once you get used to slowing down, good thing happen. I also think it helps the rest of your game
  4. Just a side note, when I first loathe a real, I use VERY little,Ono backing and load the balance with braid. After that, when the braid needs to be changed, I pull off 100 yards and tie to the remaining only braid. Makes for a nice smooth spool and OK other are very small
  5. It is fine!, but given your water color your not limited as all greens would also work fine
  6. Stradic x 10......thing will last for ever!
  7. NEVER had an issue and I use the FG, Uni to Uni, and crazy Alberto. I do find rubbing the coting off the ends make it a little less slippery.
  8. @Hez is right, but the the lessens learned can be invaluable. I have a younger friend that was in a similar situation and he learned techniques that didn't interest him or wasn't applicable in his home lake. So in this case he saved some money. Side note........The boat owner doesn't expect much and has low expectations....relax, have fun, and learn the ropes. That is what local clubs are about if they are looking for members
  9. It is hard to say for sure, but my hookup ratio this year is significantly better than last with long cast with Jig and plastics with my 8/1's.....to the point that I am getting 2 more. Bottom line for me. All plastics get 8's Top water and swimmers get 7's All CB get 6's I am a recreational fisherman and should care less about the pro's, but in this case they opened my eyes and I tried for myself and liked. Note, most of my plastic movement is rod related, but the 8's help me set the hook set, I am not concerned with the fast retrieve.........
  10. Let me answer it this way. Regardless of time of year, if a friend wants to catch fish, it is hard to beat the a weightless senko any time of year. I have great luck, but I naturally like to fish faster
  11. Sorry not to answer your question directly ......smackdowwn!
  12. What would you do if it was your car? When the cost of repairs are 1/2 or Korea than a monthly payment, look to replace,.......but I am pretty good at spending other people's money. Side note.....at my age, time on the water is precious, so I would have to factor that into my decision
  13. In my mind, a worm/jig should be the first dedicated rod, because they do so much more......Medium/fast Everything else depend on type of water your on.........example, I love throwing CB but my deticated rod doesn't see as much action as my swimmer and topwater
  14. No simple answer But White and Black are the 2 colors you need......
  15. There are times that I carry a.380 but bullestic test don't lie 22..better than nothing .380.. Better than 22 9 mm..far better..380 40. Snappyness out weights benifits over the 9 45. Best if you have it and know how to use it. Military guys have a love for the 1911 that can not be described
  16. Folks, I am looking to make a bulk purchase of 3 inch salted senkos, the source I was going to use is closed for the summer. Any input is appreciated. Thanks, Al
  17. While I always have one tied on, my destination success is at dusk as they start moving up from the deep. I do need to get more 1/4 ounce for a lighter presentation
  18. 5:30 AM fishing 2:30 pickup family for a few hrs on the boat. After dinner cigars and cocktails at the Legion and VFW. Life is good
  19. I really like smackdowwn, 832 and Gamma Torque. 832 sinks the best. Gamma is the thinnest in most lbs and is 4 strand. Smackdowwn is less likely to dig in, but I have never had that problem with any of them If I could only choose 1 it would be 832
  20. The football field down the road doubles as my spooling station. It will take you 10 minutes and learning to do it is well worth it
  21. I am with Mr Farmer Today was a great example. One spot had fish suspended 15 feet down in 30 ft, and the wacky killed it. The next spot had the just off the bottom, and the drop had success. That isn't saying the other techniques would not work, but It did today for me
  22. Getting tough on a pressured 4th of July weekend
  23. Call them......off water mechanics could check out the big things in an hr so around here your looking at 95.00
  24. I will be going mostly with top water and swimmers. The rat really shines st night
  25. Look to the "used" market and get more for your buck. On that note, I am not a fan on trying to do so on the cheap. My first experience was with a ci4 and make the experience thrilling and easy. My buddy went another route to "try" it, and hated it. Now I know that techniques are more important than gear, but today's gear is so user friendly it is hard to ignore the difference. I know tons for guys that have gone from spinning to casting gear, and only a handful that have gone the other way and those that have, own top shelf spinning gear
