  1. Yes, and thanks for the correction, not sure if it is fat fingers or tablet setting. we agree!
  2. .....and remember to pull your bow anchor up before moving to your next spot......it doesn't play well with stainless props .
  3. If the Xl isn't working, I do see you being satisfied with the others. I am sure you have your reasons for not going to braid, but every teenage beginner, LOVES braid over the other options.
  4. The longest day

I have yet to meet any competitor that was an ass. Truth be told, they have gone out of their way not to ruffle the feathers of the locals. On an off weekend a couple came out to just spend some time on a quiet cove. Asked if they could join us in a private cove and taught me more about the sport in an hour that I have learned in a couple years. plenty of room on the water for all.....
  6. Lots of guys are complaining about S Blue leader breakoffs. I disregarded it until we had 4 failures with the 8 lb last weekend ......and 3 different guys were tying. Canned the rest, hoping is is an anomaly
  7. Not sure I would be complaining about that ratio. I find most hook them self. I just reel! To your concern........changing the hooks to 41's, 36's, might help Have also seen guys adding an 0 ring to drop the front treble lower
  8. Look at the ci4, great deals can be had and a step up from the 70
  9. If you want to KISS, the only knots you need to know is the Uni. From there it is Uni to Uni and doubled Uni. That said If I am on the dock tying FC to Braid, I like the FG.....on the water it would be uni to uni. I only tie braid directly to terminal tackle if it is surface or swim bait. If it is big, I use the doubled uni that can be tricky to learn. Side note......if the Palomar is easy for you, use it for braid only. Note 2..... Any knot tied PROPERLY will be fine since most of us are using bigger than needed line
  10. My lake usually turns over towards the beginning of August and creates other issues. I suspect I will have some questions at that time
  11. Standing on bags of plastic will "unground" you, so breakout the worms and craw dads
  12. Lightning is where I draw the line. Given the weather apps available, it is totally available. In the Summer I borrow a lightning indicator that our athletic trainer has. ( It's awesome) Like anything else, if you ignore you accept the consequences. To get back to my home dock, I have to get through 2 chanels and that's not likely if you wait till you hear thunder. Seasoned boaters know the law and will tie off to a vacant dock and wait it out. The last time it happened, the owner invited me in for coffee..........I love "Golden Pond"!
  13. I plan on comparing a GLX and NXR this weekend. Both MH worm and jig. Will report back

  15. Most of all this is anecdotal, and while there is some science, who really know. Frankly, I have a tough time keeping quiet on the boat, so it might be a mute point, and got to admit, sometimes I like a little background music. Today I witnessed LM in shallow clear water and NO amount of noise concerned these fish. I think it is because of the environment. I also believe that there are other areas of the lake that fish would scatter when hearing my motor... Thanks for all the discussion, it's quite an education for a life long trout fly fisherman
  16. I applaud the idea, But Flukes are cheap and landing an extra one, just isn't worth the effort
  17. GLX MH and GLX M, the Montes is more fun since most of my fish is in the 2 lb range
  18. Straight braid, 20 lb test.......this year top waters have my best hook up percentage
  19. Struggling with this myself. When AL, else fails I look for flats at the same depth that the fish are suspending at.....the worms and jigs
  20. Pop Max and WP 110 have been the best so far
  21. For those that don't like half hitches, Google FG Rizzuto finish. I stay with half hitches and a drop of glue
  22. @Glenn I have been in your shoes and when making updates and tweaking these site, a 1 sentence FYI goes a long way. Without the notice folks question their own devises, then all types of post like this pull your attention away from the matter at hand. Thanks for all you do, Al
