  1. The problem that some have, is the hook set. There are some pretty good hefty hook in some 3/8 jigs. Set according! Have a buddy that struggles with this as he usually is using worms with light wire offset hooks. He can set a jig to save his soul!
  2. Snaps for hard bait, but I do retie depending on where I am throwing. I hate using O rings as no matter how much I retie, the line finds the sharp edge. If I was tying direct I would replace with ovals Edit....I change clips weekly as I change leaders weekly
  3. Overtones is having a 40% off sale with free shipping making it more reasonable.......code is ( July2017)
  4. No disrespect intended, but if the Uni didn't perform well, there was a flaw somewhere, because testers consistently rate it at 97% and if doubled, it is one of the few 100%'s
  5. No......I use 10#braid to 8# FC and have great success. The trick is to really tighten it every 1/3 and do 20 wraps. If it is slipping, is is usually haw you are finishing the knot Edit......I do believe that when lines get that small the benifits of the FG subside and often use uni to uni
  6. Time for a selfish stick
  7. The start of a fine day on "Golden Pond", Squam lake
  8. Timing is funny... I just left my buddy and he was telling me this....... " I normally have my marina do all my work, but their price was 50% more the the same service and it would tie up the boat for 2 weeks. I had the work done elsewhere and had it back in 3 days. The owner of the marina was so upset because he thought I went elsewhere because of the time loss on water. He brought a fruit basket to my work to apologize ". That is sincerity!
  9. Frankly the hardware on most of them such, that said most guys use way to much power in setting the hook. I have found that mist hook themselves and require little effort. It may be the combination of the two I replace almost every treble that comes stock
  10. No downside at that price, my top water doubles as a swimbait rod and it is an e6x that retails for about the same....just make sure it is rated for the weights you plan on throwing
  11. I use a net for ALL trebles and the rubber net make life easier for me and the fish. Will likely buy one with flatter surface area instead of the rubberized rope as the benefits outweigh the cons
  12. It doesn't sound like you have to be a rocket scientist for this fix, I would look elsewhere. Time on the water is valuable. That said, John is correct and what compounds the problem is the limited season. Regardless, I think the phrase that starts " fool me once......" Is appropriate. On a side note, I am going through similar situations with home improvement contractors, even an average contractor can't forsee problems along the way, and let's face it, some prioritize for their bigger customers. Look at this as an opportunity to look for other options
  13. The WP 110 is quickly becoming my go to.........fished it like a popper tonight.
  14. They do best on rock bottoms.....I have a baby and small and holds a 24 foot pontoon in 15 MPH wind
  15. I go with 10, but am considering lighter for summer fishing. Braid is strong stuff, that said if your looking for universal fishing there is little downside to 15
  16. Baby box. Collapses unto bag No chain 2/1 rope length Goes on sale often with free shipping http://www.overtons.com/modperl/product/details.cgi?pdesc=Extra-Small-Box-Anchor&i=38806
  17. Don't own one but used one 2 weeks ago with 1/2 ounce jigs and it was awesome. Buy with confidence!
  18. The larger fish on my lake are coming from OLD docks and deeper rock and tree cover. Jigs are bring in the bigger ones. Night fishing top waters has also been successful
  19. I have been a mod on a couple larger forums. In our cases, the pic issue and running slow was indicative of a needed upgrade. The last time it happened on a large cigar forum, a lot of info was lost in the migration. Usually notice is given by admins and mods. If this happens, I recommend backing up everything you deam important. Not saying this is the case here, but this was the precursor the last 2 times a picture issue and slowdowns happened. Al
  20. Great to see, and congrats. Several parks in my area removed the barrels with the thought that making them a "carry in-carry out" would take place. This has worked in our prestine areas, but failed every place out. The bottom line is that trash removal wasn't consistent enough. Glad this is working out for you.
  21. Best if applied as it is spooled, but no big deal if it isn't. For best results give the spool a cpl squires the night before and one an hr when fishing.
  22. For the price of a Starbucks Coffee, a bottle will last a month or more
  23. If this is of great interest to you, I can try to get all the details and any printed materials?
