I use them as a spinner bait substitute. Start there, and you will expand your confort zone

Yup, but the reverse is also true for many hard baits.....make little sense to me.

Rain gear shrunk over the yrs
Great point.....I was thinking uninsured since I like to layer, so your point is well taken. Thanks

12lb or 15lb line?
For what you mentioned, the 12 is perfect, especially given the stretch and the fact that the break strength is higher

LH or RH Baitcaster?
I was in the same boat as you but had not had the experience of my father. While I can real with either hand, I can hook set better with the right. I went with L hand reel Since then, many of my right cranking friends are reconsidering the change

Things that make you mad on the water
Putting the cover back on the boat. I also have to travel through 2 channels to get to the fishing grounds, and given the lake is aka "Golden Pond", every first time boat renter seams to travel well below heads way speeds and often stop for Pics.....

Question to all bass fisherman/women
I grew up as a trout fisherman. Fly rod, dry line, lead line, trolling, ect...... Took a 30 yr hiatus and joint my brother-in-law for some strippers....it has all been down hill from there

Rain gear shrunk over the yrs
Howdy Folks, It has been a few years since we have had rain for such prolonged periods of time. My LL Bean gortex suits are a little snug and am in the market for a something that will last. When searching, I see Cabelllas guide wear and BPS 100 and 200 mentioned a lot. I am interested in uninsured gear and am open to any suggestions. Thanks in advance, Al

Fluorocarbon Questions.
With everything you have tried, had you purchased Tatsu from the beginning you would be ahead of the game. Given you are using backing, tatsu could full your spool twice. Watch for sales, we should be seeing some around Memorial day

Spots and Secrets
There is a few of us on the lake that tend to know the hotter spots, but tend to reserve them for when we have guest and want them to have a good time. There are a couple tournaments on our lake, and if you really to get a head start, be on the lake for practice....... You will surely find additional places to fish. As far as what is working, almost anyone with the exception of the elite tournament fisherman will share.

There are areas of the country that require the conversation. Got to admit, it has crossed my mind

I want to try a baitcasting setup. Opinions?
I can't speak to that combo, but I was in your shoes not to long ago. After trying a lot of casters, I found that spending a little more really helped with the backlash problems. My first purchase was a ci4 and went directly to braid with no regrets as I committed to backyard casting for weeks. Starting with mono is definitely a great idea,......it is just that everything I demoed had braid, so it felt natural. My spinning gear has been repressed to finesse work, and casters get the call for heavy duty. Truth be told, I fish with gents far better and more knowledgeable than me that solely use spinning gear.........

Knot for light fluoro?
One of my fishing partners is a scientist/college professor with a molecular science background and he looked at a couple FC's and manufacturing process. Briefly stated, friction and heat still an adverse effect on FC line. He did say that some knots naturally creat less friction i.e. The uni ........personality, I have never had an issue so I will continue to slobber on FC

Line for swimbaits?
I don't throw anything larger than 2 ounces and am very happy with 30 lb braid and 25-20 lb FC. PP is cheap and good enough for this.

Anyone ever "started over"? (Philosophical musings itt)
If you find your yourse mid summer feeling the same way, there is no downside to thin the herd. That said, since your rerun on investment is going to be slim, considering donating it to a fishing club and get the deduction and feel better doing so.

Terrible start to the year!
I don't know if it is that water is still 49* and at all time high levels.....with no real sunshine in weeks, or me? No hits from any of the previously hot spots and have been throwing everything under the sun. i have seen a couple LM on the river, but they were bairly moving. it looks like spawn is weeks to a month behind normal.......Anyone else in the East experiencing the same and is this normal given the conditions? Thanks, Al

Knot for light fluoro?
@Team9nine, I am married to an old wife, so they are ok by me : ) While there may be no need, most Manufacturers of FC still recommend the method. I have found that chapstick on the line help knoting the larger lines.

Two handguns? :-)
Really wish I had my issued 1911. Never had a failure and it's accuracy has spoiled me when shooting my plastic guns. Would also love to get my O3 Springfield back too
