  1. Braid to co-poly leader.....don’t need the leader, but I get less fouled hooks with it
  2. Easy there....keep in mind we are all bass fishermen ?
  3. Got a few shops in the area and both say the same thing... ”If you want to make a little money, you need to start with a lot” Retail is retail, only the inventory is different. @Sam, got the last started and I would include a traffic/ feasibility study. Many colleges have business majors that will do this for free. Also keep in mind, that your volume dictates your margins, and start-ups struggle in that area. Good luck......I hope you can make a go of it, but don’t let your passion cloud your financial judgement.
  4. Tons of luck with flukes At this time of the year, I add a very small barrel swivel as the weight will get me to about 5 feet. In a few weeks it will be weighless or with a heavier hook I also use only while and a red hook
  5. Folks, i have been using CB rods, Swimbait roads, and MBRish rods for top water and want to have a dedicated setup for ounce. any input is appreciated. I have been eyeing the st croix avid 6’10 I do prefer a slightly handle . Thanks,Al
  6. There are several great lightning apps out there and we use them for athletics all the time. That said, ANY dock in a storm is legal and encouraged. I had an issue a couple years ago, when there was no way of making it through the channel so I was seeking shelter on the back side of an island. A home owner saw me out there and started flashing her porch light and dock light. I pulled in to wait it out and was invited in for a cup of coffee. While there are some real *ss’s in the world, there are some Good Samaritan’s too
  7. Thanks, I figured the fishing chart shading, and just had to go in and substitute that chart for the Nav chart in combos......very mush appreciate the feedback
  8. Folks, this bait has peaked my interest and the top water bite is starting. thoughts on size and colors? I am thinking White/bone, silver, black in size 128 Thanks Al
  9. Reading these post makes me feel a little better about myself. ?
  10. There is a lot of discussion about favorites baits, confidence baits, etc...... There isn’t a lot of talk about what doesn’t. For me, I seldom reach for spinners, as there always seams to be something more appropriate, thus lowering my confidence in it. The same is true for lipless cranks. After spawn I plan on spending days solely with those bait in an attempt to add some arrows to the quiver. Anyone else struggle with techniques that others seam to have mastered Just thinking out loud...
  11. @Sam, thanks for posting. I thought that would never happen. For me it was the easiest most reliable weapon I had. If It didn’t weight a ton it would be my everyday carry. Proof that a “loose” pistol can be more reliable than current “tight” tolerance pistols.
  12. I’ve heard that before, but believe getting kicked in the nutts is worse.......after all, women continue to have more kids, butt never heard a guy asking to get kicked in the nutts again. ?
  13. There are tons of great fishing without having to cross the broards. Moltonborough (sp) is much quieter than paugus bay and the Weirs areas
  14. Thule rack and save the car..........and it is much harder than you think. i would get a bolt on trailer hitch and used trailer and be done with it
  15. Absolutely! .....and you can come over to Squam for a day and join me on “Golden Pond”
  16. I’ve had 18 different surgical procedures and more than 20 cortisone injections. The worst pain was tearing my quad off my knee and the thought of it still gives me chills........and this doesn’t compare to the kidney stone pain my son get.......heck, stones kept him out of the Marine Corps !
  17. I hope when folks are using the words pocket pistols, they are referring to small.......not a pistol in a pocket with no trigger guard. I have seen more than a few mishaps with folks not using some kind of holster. I for one have grown fond of my thighs
  18. Having beers today with 2 teams to have the that very discussion. Other teams also had the same issue marking trout in traditional bass areas
  19. Candle lit, ?
  20. They have had some pretty good tournaments already.......There are some bays that warm up early
  21. First tournament today. Water temp high was 44 and it was a long 8 hours. Only caught lake trout on blades at 45 feet. The only thing that made us feel better was that 6 out of 29 teams were also shut out. Oh well, there is always next month
  22. All things even, fishing with passionate guys are enjoyable. That said, as the years have passed, I find myself content by myself. My wife believes I prefer fish over 99.9% of the people I know edit.....I plan on having permanent fishing partners as soon as my grand kids are old enough edit II....This Summer a couple of us are working with the local legion, and deticating 1 day a week to taking a vet fishing.....really looking forward to that
  23. I always knew women really think size matters...... i believe girth is more important than length. ?
  24. Chatterbait and you can rig a Swimjig weedless
