High School Bass Club
I am considering starting a bass club at my Prep-School. We are looking for input on the do,s and dont’s. It will be a Fall club that will run from September through November. Most of the kids will have their own equipment, but are their companies that give discounts for non-profit educational facilities? I have reached out to the state to try to obtain a group license. i suspect that the gear the school purchases will largely be spinning in nature with a one casting gear thrown in. On a side note, do round reels last longer last longer than similarly priced low profile reels, given both are properly maintained.? Any input is appreciated Al

Early Spring Tips?
The nice part of this time of the year is that you don’t need a lot of poles on deck. I have Jerks to 12feet hair jigs, painfully slow shakey head with red floating finesse worm

Preferring mid range over high end reels
Last night my Mrs was sitting next to me as I was looking at the JDM Calcutta conquest..... While I never considered it, she made the comment, “is that a reel that you could hand down to Everett ( grandson)”. I replied, hell ya.......and she told me to think about it..... Go figure!!!!!!

Swimbait rod for NH waters?
I too am struggling with where to go on this since we DO NOT get DD bass in NH. My current swimbait rod is a Loomis rated to 2 ounces and think that’s where i am going to stay. i don’t know one persons that has broken 10 lbs. A 7 is considered a monster. That said, for the baits you want to throw, you will need something rated to 5 ounces.

The Good, Bad and Ugly of Tournaments
Howdy Folk, My buddy and I just decided to complete in our first season of tournaments. It is a low pressure and fun series. My question is what are some of the biggest lessens learned ......things to do and things to avoid. Funny stories appreciated. Thanks

Nitro? Ranger? So confused now
You can’t tell the cost of something until the accounting period is over. Assume both boats were identical in every aspect....( they are not!) Boat A cost 5K more At the end of 5 years, boat A has a resale value 10K higher, clearly A is a less expensive boat.

Preferring mid range over high end reels
Let's be honest, there are needs and there are wants. It is about priorities. For me it is about comfort and aging. Higher end reels are lighter, fit better and can be used for a full day, with less pain. I will pay a premium if something allows me to enjoy one of the last of life's simple pleasures.. The way the sport is going, what is today's top end will be tomorrows mid range.

Calcutta D
Folks, I see the D's gets great reviews, but the issue with the non removable side plate seams to be an issue for some. That said, I seldom change breaks once they are set. Any first hand experience with these? Thanks, Al
