  1. Once you do catch them, make sure you release them on that same spot so that they can go back to guarding the nest and therefore continue the cycle of life. Remember it is important to preserve this beautiful hobby of ours.
  2. thanks guys for the help. Looks like my first choice will be the Revo, if not in stock or on sale anymore, I will go with the Citica. If neither one of the two is in stock or run out of money before getting the reel I will get it on line, thanks to the members who provided links. Ideally I will end up with a Revo and a Citica, for better comparison of the two, in time I hope.
  3. I was thinking about getting the pay-per-view but I am glad I didn't.
  4. I like acustic myself, here is a link to a couple from Mexico notice the "druming", sweet.
  5. I keep reading and hearing people say that you have to pay attention to your line when you are worm fishing, like dropshot or t-rigs or most other worms. Also most sugest to use flourocarbon line for these technics, bucause it is hard for the fish to see it underwater. I get that, but my problem is that I can't see the smaller clearer flouro in sunny Az very good, is the green line they make easier to see? is any other company making some easier to see above water color that I can use? which is a good line to use? any ideas?
  6. Good question. I have only 2 baitcaster(one was a freebe) and they are both right handed, so I cast with my right hand and transfer the rod to my left after that. Crazy thing is, my spinning rods, I cast with my right and reel with my left so my rod stays on my casting hand. This does feel more natural to me and I am going to get a left handed reel this weekend. When I started fishing I was told I should use my stronger hand to hold the rod, so I had my spinning reels handle on the left. I don't really care to switch hands, in a perfect situation I should learn to cast with my left arm also so I don't have to switch.
  7. I have to say I am surprised to see the amount of members who like the foam grip better, just because when I go to any store, from Walmart to Cabela's or any other one I see 95% of the rods with cork handles. You would think a good marketing group would have done a better research. I think I only have 2 foam, and they are the catfishing rods, all others are cork.
  8. Thanks, since you mentioned the Citica, they also have on sale sor about the same price with the same rod, I wish I could get both and compare but that would not be possible, it would have to be one or the other.
  9. thanks for commenting everyone. it is good to come in to BPS with a plan, the hard part is to stick to it. ;D ;D
  10. thanks for the comments everyone. At this time my rods are either 6'6 " to 7'6" but I got a light action on a 6" and it feels funny to me.
  11. What are the reasons I would want to have a 6' rod compare to a longer one, say 7'6" or 6'6". I was told that it had to do with my own size, I am 5'7" but not sure how that relates to fishing. I know a longer rod can cast a lure further but other than that I don't know any other reason. help please!
  12. I was wondering what you all think about this reel, reliable? smooth? I have not had a baitcaster over$50 and it may just be time, since it is on sale... ;D with the Bionic brade rod for $159.94 good deal?
  13. for me to get to either one of the two I have to drive 3 1/2 hrs so by the time I get there I am happy to be there. This coming weekend I will be going to BPS in Vegas so I plan on having a good old time in there;D ;D like a kid in a candy store, if I could only get free samples...
  14. It would not surprised me at all. Have anyone notice how some times the fish they show is not moving at all? I don't think I ever just pull a bass or any other fish that was not moving/shaking when I grab it. IMO those may be the pre-hook fish they are completly exausted and they don't move anymore. Also they do have to put in a few hours of footage to come up with the best 30 min for a segment I would think. I don't think they just film for 1 hr for a show, they probably use a full day's worth of fishing.
  15. I don't take mine all the time because my aussie mix loves getting in the water and my shi-su doesn't do well in the heat of the summer. I do take them when I do some bottom fishing with live bait since I can keep an eye on them but if I am trowing lures I rather not take them because my aussie will follow me in to the water or just jump in there herself.
  16. Thanks for sharing Catt, I will print this up and look at my local waters to see how this relates. Thanks again.
  17. LOL, I certainly have not done that. That puts a new light on what SLOW really means. Great help everyone, thanks a bunch and I really hope to have some big ones to post pictures of.
  18. thanks for commenting. I should have said, I do use the baitcaster for the texas rig, but I was thinking about the jigs on the spinning combo. What I think I will do also is to cast the worm in the back yard and see how my retrive is, right now I am thinking it is medium and I need to slow it down more but I have a hard time "seeing" the worm move on the bottom. I do want to practice these technics so I can be confident about them. The one technic I know I can catch fish with is the dropshot, I use it most of the time and I can catch the fish doing that. Unfortunatly I am not very confident with spinnerbaits, (even when my first fish came on a spinnerbait) and the crankbaits and top water, I have cougth fish using them but I am not very confident I can't consistently do it.
  19. I like your way of thinking. My boxes have been in the livingroom waiting for the perfect time to be rearenged.
  20. that is funny but I know just what you mean, my wife has gone only a couple of times with me and she completly dislike it, she is not the outdoor type at all. I still do ask because I like to appear concern about spending time with her, you know what I mean my dog discovered she loves to swim so there is no way I can take her anymore, she would be in the water the whole time, I had been wading and she swims to me, I have to take her back to the bank but she comes right back after a few minutes.
  21. thanks for the comments. I know I need to work on my patience and slowing down. The few time I tried last year I lost concentration and started moving a lot faster. I don't take my dog fishing a whole lot anymore, unless I bring the kids with me because then I know I won't be doing much fishing anyway, more like babysitting out there. There is fishing with kids and pets and then there is real fishing IMO.
  22. I think as long as it is not cracked and leaks the acid it should be fine. I let the batery in my bike dry up and all I did was to refill it with electrolite I got at the auto parts store. no mixing just straight in there.
  23. I agree i hate him and his ugly,stupid,2 tone, diamond gusset jeans. Really who is going to wear those, and he looks so uncomfortable in them. I agree. Fishing university is no more than a 1/2 hour infomercial, always pushing his friends boats or lures.
  24. This will be my second year bass fishing, I have tried a few technics and cought some fish but at this point I think it has been luck more than know-how. This year I will learn how to properly use the Texas rig, shaky head jig and spinnerbaits. I have been reading articles on these lures presentations and stuff. For the plastics I have a few spinning rods, from 6' to 7' medium action and for the spinnerbaits I have a bait caster and a 6'5" medium action rod. My plan is to take only those lures on every outing and try them the whole time I am out there, I am bound to catch something, right? would you care to give some advice?
