Bullfrogs in my pool…
- Rod for each bait/technique what else to add?
Now you just need add 2-3 more per technique so you have color options. That’ll shut the monkey up for a bit.- Growing grass
Well water here too. I could try and turn this place into a lake if I wanted to and nobody could say otherwise. I do that though I’d be getting a nice Christmas card from the electric company saying thanks for all the power usage.- Growing grass
We have utility locate requests for sprinkler systems here in Michigan until December. Obviously they don’t fire them up in December, but they’ll come back in the spring and fire them up the first time. That’s good to know it’s takes up to three years, but also a major bummer it takes three years. The bright side of things is as you’re driving down the street you see a nice green lawn! ? The other nice thing is the neighbor next door who started their lawn the same time we did, dropped $10k on a company to come in add a bunch of topsoil, put in a driveway, and hydro seed their lawn only to get a lawn that’s a tad better looking than mine. I did all the work, didn’t add topsoil, and did driveway work for under a grand so there’s that.- Casting accuracy?
It’s all about practice, developing the muscle memory. My golf coach in high school said, “perfect practice makes perfect”. You can practice all you want but if you keep doing it wrong you develop bad muscle memory. The other thing I realized a couple years ago is having the right rod. I used to use whatever rod and didn’t care about action or power. I started to upgrade my rods and match the proper rod to the technique and that makes a world of difference in accuracy.- if you know any Civil Engineers looking for a job...
I recently had a company approach me about throwing my hat in the ring for a construction manager position for them. Of course I was interested until I talked with them more about the job. I was absolutely grateful to the person who highly recommended me and extremely grateful for this company approaching me about it, but at the end of the day I let them know I wasn’t interested because this position was an office position. I need to be outside going to sites, getting my hands dirty. They did let me know there’s a field engineer position on the horizon which is more up my alley.- Growing grass
A little update. A fellow member sent me a PM talking about lawns so I figured I’d give a bit of an update. In typical 12poundbass fashion I had my hopes set a tad too high. This isn’t the greatest year to start a lawn and since we didn’t move until mid May I was off to a late start. The grass is growing but so are the weeds. The typical crabgrass is growing and two other unknown intruders. I did spray a weed killer concentrate in June sometime and that seemed to help a bit but it seems what died was quickly replaced. I’ve watered pretty heavily until about two weeks ago and I slowed down because we started getting rain. I haven’t done a fertilizer yet, so my question to you grass experts what are these two weeds I’m frequently seeing, do I fertilize, and what do you use to eradicate these weeds? I do plan to seed again in the fall. Weed 1: Weed 2:- Post a photo a day!
You how many times on the show Northwoods Law or Lonestar Law people getting busted because they posted their illegal activities on social media? Maybe they’ll give you a break because you were honest about it. ?- if you know any Civil Engineers looking for a job...
Tough sell, Napa Valley and civil engineer salary don’t mix well, at least here in Michigan, you’re doing it because you love it. Definitely not for the money.- Bass Tournaments - Profitable?
I’ve pondered doing little week night derbies around here maybe a weekend deal (not ready quite yet). I know I’ll be a donator, but they’re cheap enough and close enough, so even I were to lose I’m not out much at all. The way I look at it I’d be feeding my competitive nature which seems to be coming back pretty strong with my age and my son playing football. So I feed that, fish it with my son, and have a good time then it’s money we’ll spent! The lakes are plentiful around here, they’re small so not flying down a lake for miles to the furthest spot possible just because, I have more lures than I’ll ever lose I imagine, so it would be fairly cheap. I have no interest in doing anything bigger than a tiny 20 or so boat derby.- Anyone else a metalhead?

You mentioned your wife’s cancer in her spine, I had two types, Hodgkin lymphoma and non Hodgkin lymphoma. The non Hodgkin was in my bone marrow and spinal fluid. I’ve been through several spinal taps and bone marrow draws, and chemo injections into the spinal fluid. Maybe related, maybe not. Just throwing that out there.- Could use some prayers.....Update
Having beaten stage 4 cancer it’s an emotional roller coaster. When I was diagnosed at 19 I was in college on my way to a good life! Then bam! I went through the just give up phase at the beginning, then after a few days it was we’re going to roll with the punches, then I’m going to beat this. My parents were basket cases (rightfully so) but after the initial shock wore off I kept a positive attitude and here I am 20 years later. A positive attitude is everything! I feel that she’s going through the initial emotions we all do and she’s starting to come around. Being told you have cancer is something no one and I mean no one can understand until you’ve been told that. PM me if you’d like to go more in depth with this conversation. No two cancer diagnosis are the same but at the end of the day we can all relate in some way.- What are you scared of?

Me and heights have an odd relationship. I never had an issue climbing trees as a kid. Back when I did roofing single story houses up to a 5/12 pitch were fine but don’t go to the edge. Two story house wasn’t a big fan of. When we did siding, 10-12’ no big deal, above that climbing and extension ladder from the wobbly middle and up didn’t like it one bit. I did it was was super slow above the middle. No issues looking out the windows of big buildings, no issues flying. The big thing I do not like is change. I am a creature of habit and I’m not a big fan of venturing outside my comfort zone. I try not to hate because it uses too much energy but I do hate change.- Mega MIllions
